Francis cardinal George and pedophiles in the Roman Catholic Church’s clergy

Francis cardinal George (Chicago, 2012)

Francis cardinal George (Chicago, 2012)

Chicago’s Cardinal Francis George has issued a letter (read here and here) stating same-sex marriages are “a legal fiction” and that gay people must live celibate lives or risk the vengeance of a hate-filled, holocaust sanctioning and murderous God whose idea of love is sadistic: complete with the killing of babies and fetuses, denial of education to the masses, and demands that the poor give the godhead their wealth in exchange for salvation gained only by caving into eternal extortion, robbery, and mutilation.  Among the most biblically ignorant men in the Roman Catholic Church who possesses no stellar academic credentials, Cardinal George, published the abhorent birlling letter New Year’s Day in advance of an upcoming Illinois bill that would make same-sex marriages legal.  The craven cardinal added that the Church will refuse to bow to the will of the majority on marriage equality, but falsely foreswears that the Roman Catholic Church is not anti-gay—it cannot be—as there are too many priests, nuns, bishops, cardinals, and popes throughout history who have been homosexuals and lesbians—and are today.

“Civil laws that establish ‘same-sex marriage’ create a legal fiction,” George wrote. “The State has no power to create something that nature itself tells us is impossible,” the Cardinal schizophrenically stated, apparently forgetting that corporations are people and states are corporations and therefore can perform marriages at will.  George argued that marriage between a man and a woman follows “natural law”.  Six auxiliary bishops: Francis J. Kane (two bachelor degrees) Vicariate II, John R. Manz (M. Div.), Vicariate IV, Joseph Nathaniel Perry (M. Div. with coursework in canon or church law) Vicariate VI, George J. Rassas (MA) Vicariate I, Alberto Rojas, Vicariate III (originally educated in seminaries in Mexico); Andrew P. Wypych (M.Th, Poland), Vicariate V), none with any exemplary education or respectable publications showing in-depth research or investigation, and their sermons being plagiarized for the most part, penned: “Marriage comes to us from nature [sic; animals mate and plants cross-pollinate, but nothing in nature but mortal beings marry; read here and here and here and here for a legal challenge]. The human species comes in two complementary sexes, male and female. Their sexual union is called marital. It not only creates a place of love for two adults but also a home for loving and raising their children [sic: not all of nature cares for its young, as with salmon spawning, as do turtles, cukkoos, butterflys, frogs, flys, worms and rattle snakes, etc.]. It provides the biological basis for personal identity [sic]”.

University of Chicago law professor Geoffrey R. Stone wrote in The Huffington Post: Cardinal George insists that same-sex marriage is incompatible with ‘nature.’ One might just as easily say the same about celibacy. There is such a thing as right and wrong, but invocations of what ‘nature’ commands is no way to get there.”

Bishop Thomas John Paprocki (Chicago)

Bishop Thomas John Paprocki (Chicago)

Chicago’s auxiliary bishops quickly sided with the cardinal, as their own tarnished history of removing pedophile (defined as any adult who is sexually attracted to children (male or female) priests has dulled any luster their ministry might have had. Thomas J. Paprocki, one of George’s auxiliary bishops in Chicago who heads the Springfield diocese, wanted to be a bishop as a child and played at saying Mass, had a priest Father Tom Donovan from Springfield, Illinois, an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriages, get caught gagged and in handcuffs in his rectory.  Paprocki, who has a degree in secular law degree and a church license in canon law, gave a sermon October 15, 2007, for the Red Mass: a gathering of lawyers and jurists, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The bishop scorned the church’s escalating financial losses to victims of predatory priests. “The church is under attack,” Paprocki declared, comparing the civil litigation to Henry VIII’s seizure of “church property and kill[ing] those who did not accept his notion of the supremacy of the crown” and warned all listeners of “intrinsic evils” in the Democratic Platform.  Paprocki also examined the Republican Party platform and found that it has “nothing in it that supports or promotes an intrinsic evil or a serious sin.”  The platform’s support for allowing courts the option of imposing the death penalty in capital murder cases is not inherently opposed to Church teaching, the bishop claimed in agreement with Thomas Aquinas’ stand (following the Holocausts prescribed in the bible, especially the bloodthirsty Ps. 100:8, Aquinas argued that the death penalty (Summa Theologiae, II, II, q. 64, art. 2) was merited in cases of heresy (Summa contra gentiles, Book III, chapter 146) in the same manner as Sharia law mandates death for heretics, apostates and unbelievers, following Augustine (De Civitate Dei contra Paganos, Book 1, chapter 21), that would be used by Pope Pius V in his demonic Horrendum illud scelus (August 30, 1568, in Bullarium Romanum, Roma:  Typographia Reverendae Camerae Apostolicae, Mainardi, 1738, chapter 3, p. 33) that demanded that all homosexual priests be put to death (cp. Fifth Lateran Council chap. 4, X, V, 31), and would be followed my Martin Luther (Vom Schem Hamphoras und vom Geschlecht Christi), and other “reformers”), and cravenly cited the Catechism of the Catholic Church’s teaching that the death penalty is permissible if it is the only possible way to defend human life that has nothing in common with any teaching by the Jesus of the New Testament, but fulfills Pauline Christianity as invented by the Emperor Constantine I in 325 CE. Jesus of the New Testament was forgotten by the end of the First Century CE.

Catholic League president Bill Donohue

Catholic League president Bill Donohue

Priests who sexually molest little boys and little girls are not defrocked unless there is sufficient public outcry, an arrest, and a trial—but even these civil and criminal actions do not always lead to the Roman Catholic Church exiling, expelling, defrocking, or denying pedophile priests access to children because, as Bill Donohue of the Catholic League stated: “The refrain that child rape is a reality in the Church is twice wrong: let’s get it straight—they weren’t children and they weren’t raped … the most common abuse has been inappropriate touching (inexcusable though this is, it is not rape).” Those who are “post-puberty”, according to Bill Donohue’s definition, is that they are “young adults” who seek to entrap priests, bishops and cardinals in carnal knowledge and satanic sex (read here and here in following and defending despotic denials by Father Benedict Groeschel

Father Benedict Groeschel claims children seduce priests for sex (2012)

Father Benedict Groeschel claims children seduce priests for sex (2012)

Groeschel told the National Catholic Register that in a “lot of the cases, the youngster — 14, 16, 18 — is the seducer.”).  Little girls are especially dangerous as the Daughters of Eve who lead the Sons of Adam into sin (read here and here). Priests, bishops, and cardinals actually molest more little girls than boys (read here and here and here and here and here and here for Father Uriel Ojeda confessed to sexually molesting a teenage girl:  while Father Jaime Duenas admitted to giving “massages” to teenage girls; the Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) hired a priest (Thomas Harkins) who was accused of sexually assaulting two school girls in the Philadelphia archdiocese) convicted of molesting girls to pat down” children before it completed a thorough background check.

Father Felix Owino (West Virginia)

Father Felix Owino (West Virginia)

Father Felix Owino, originally from Nairobi, Kenya, is a member of the Apostles of Jesus missionary congregation, an African congregation of priests and brothers and a philosophy teacher at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia and as an associate pastor at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, West Virginia attacked an eleven-year-old girl who reported the assault to her parents.  Young boys receive more news coverage (read here for a conservative response that disagrees and here for more information).

Bishop Paprocki with John Paul II

Bishop Paprocki with John Paul II

Displaying the callousness that has cursed so many Catholic bishops for so long, Paprocki insulted the victims of the scandals, as well as the attorneys and judges in their cases, with these words: “We must use our religious discernment to recognize that the principal force behind these attacks is none other than the devil.”  It was as if Paprocki was living in the cloistered world of Umberto Eco’s Name of the Rose and is even more vile than John Paul II.  The speeches match those of Roman Catholic bishops who supported Adolf Hitler, as when Hitler greeted Ludwig Müller the “[Protestant/Lutheran] Bishop of the Reich” and the Roman Catholic bishops, led by Michael cardinal Faulhaber, praised Hitler “as a man of peace” (October 2, 1938)  in the Völkischer Beobachter, the official newspaper of the Nazi Party (cf. Billig, Joseph (1964).  Alfred Rosenberg dans l’action idéologique, politique et administrative du Reich hitlérien, Paris: Editions du Centre; Piper, Ernst (2005).  Alfred Rosenberg: Hitlers Chefideologe. Munich: Blessing).

Bishop Juan Arzuba (d. January 11, 2008)

Bishop Juan Arzuba (d. January 11, 2008)

Chicago underground papers list three of the auxiliaries in Chicago as being frequent visitors to gay bars within the city. Interestingly, as of 2009 the bishops who have been publicly alleged for sexually abusing minors include Juan A. Arzube of Los Angeles was accused of molesting an 11-year-old boy and forced the Church to pay out one of its greatest settlements.  Tod D. Brown of Orange, CA repeatedly sexually abused a 12-year-old boy in the name of giving the juvenile “faith”. Robert Brom from Duluth MN to San Diego CA,  molested a seminarian to teach the consequences of sin.  Paul Dudley was accused of molesting a woman in Florida.

Bishop John McCormack (Manchester) and NH Attorney General pressing charges

Bishop John McCormack (Manchester) and NH Attorney General pressing charges

John McCormick of NH won a distinction from the NH GOP leader who referred to the bishop as a “pedophile pimp”.  Thomas Dupré, himself a pedophile, introduced his victims to pornography prior to sex; he retired a day after being accused of sexually assaulting 12- and 13-year-old boys.  Joseph Ferrario of Hawaii who covered up Rev. Arthur O’Brien, the pedophile pastor’s penchant for ten-year-old boys (read here and here).  Louis E. Gelineau of Providence RI, similarly ignored accusations against pedophile priests including one suffering from schizophrenia.  Francis Joseph Green of Tucson, Arizona, had a keen fondness for youth as did Timothy Harrington (read here and here

Bishop Joseph Hart

Bishop Joseph Hart

Bishop Joseph Hart of Cheyenne, Wyoming had six sexual assault charges filed against him, filed by victims who were attacked when they were pre-teenagers, with at least one assault taking place at St. Regis Church in Kansas City, Mo.  There were at least two charges officially launched against the bishop.

Bishop Joseph Hart (1975-1976 at the time of the sexual assault)

Hart also molested three children while bishop of Wyoming and though retired still has access to small children.  Hart’s crimes were covered up from 1977 – 2004 by Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph Bishop Raymond J. Boland, and its Vicar General the Rev. Patrick Rush.

Howard Hubbard of Albany, NY molestation led to the exposure of Edward cardinal Egan whom Father Robert Hoaston, a priest, declared was an “active homosexual” and consistently covered up pedophile priests.  Anthony J. O’Connell (10 May 1938 – 4 May 2012, last diocese was Palm Beach, FL) allowed known pedophiles to serve on vocation committees, and admitted to molesting boys at St. Thomas Seminary in Hannibal, MO, where he served as rector or more than two decades, before resigning his bishopric in 2002.

Bishop James Rausch

Bishop James Rausch

James Rausch, bishop of Phoenix was named with two priests in pedophile cases and molested Brian F. O’Connor (whose drug addiction was halted by Msgr. Robert C. Trupia).  Later O’Connor and Trupia had a sexual relationship while O’Connor was growing into adulthood.

Msgr. Robert C. Trupia

Msgr. Robert C. Trupia

Trupia had a history of child sexual abuse that Rome covered-up for eighteen years at the demand of John Paul II.  John Paul II sought “forgiveness” for pedophiles and only toward the end of his pontificate began to feel any pain for the suffering of the victims of pedophile priests that preyed upon young boys and girls from Ireland to South America, the USA to the Philippines.

The Rev. Paul R. Shanley, who was indicted for child rape, kept quiet until recently about his own experience of being raped by a cardinal (Bernard Law).  George E. Rueger an Auxiliary Bishop of Worchester MA was the subject of a civil suit for running a pedophile ring and covering for pedophile priests (read here and and here.  It is claimed that Rueger was especially adept at getting young boys to go to clerical cottages and homes to offer “services” to “desperate priests”.  Rueger expected to get a “kickback” from any revenues the young received for their time and talents.

Bishop Daniel L. Ryan

Bishop Daniel L. Ryan

Bishop Daniel L. Ryan of Springfield, IL (read here and here) was especially active.  He liked males of any age, especially priests and male prostitutes.  He had no fondness for females and was always willing to pay using donations ot the church or save as funds for the poor.

Bishop William S. Skylstad greets students

Bishop William S. Skylstad greets students

William Skylstad, had been a parish priest since 1974 where he had been a co-pastor with Father Patrick O’Donnell.  Father O’Donnell was accused of sexually abusing young children, and some of O’Donnell’s victims claim that they had informed then-Father Skylstad in the 1970s that they were sexually abused by Father O’Donnell.  Skylstad took no action, but the memories and whispers about the abuse grew and filtered out of the parish and across the state.

When sex abuse became common knowledge in the Spokane diocese where Skylstad was its fifth bishop, and had taken an active role in reaching a financial settlement with the victims, Skylstad was asked to resign by prominent Spokane, WA,  Roman Catholics Donald Herak, Thomas Tilford, James Workland, and Ronald Caferro.  The four pillars sustaining the church of Spokane informed the prelate that they refused to pay “one dime to this unfortunate, costly and mistaken mediated settlement of $48 million dollar settlement” that led the diocese into bankruptcy for covering-up pedophile priests in the diocese. Skylstad claimed that the laity were the blame for the “sins of the clergy”.

Iowa’s Roman Catholic clergy and bishops have a long history of sexual abuse of little boys and little girls, and of women almost exceeds that of Pentecostal pastors in the state. Laurence (also spelled Lawrence) Soens of Sioux City, IA, himself a pedophile (read here and here).

Bishop Lawrence Soens (Sioux City, Iowa)

Bishop Lawrence Soens (Sioux City, Iowa)

Bishop Lawrence Soens was charged with 31 cases of sexual abuse against young boys (read here page 2 middle of chart with allegations of sexually abusing students at Iowa City Regina High School in the 1950s and 1960s, and at St. Ambrose Seminary).

Joseph Keith Symons of Palm Beach, FL, resigned his diocese after admitting to sexually abusing five boys during his 40 year ministry.   Many in the diocese stood behind him and claimed that the accusastions were false, despite testimony from the youths that the bishop attacked.  There was the mentality that youth encourage priests and nuns to abuse them as another means of demonstrating their own vulnerability to sin.

Bishop Christopher J. Weldon

Bishop Christopher J. Weldon

Christopher J. Weldon, Springfield, MA, abused William E. Burnett three times when Burnett was between ten- and 13-years-old at St. Michael’s Cathedral before Burnett committed murder and accused the bishop of molestation when he was nine years old.  There is a problem with the Burnett account, as the molestation occured in the 1950s, and was by more than one priest.  Other priests named include Revs. Bernard L. Doheny, George A. Berthiaume [deceased 12/3/1985], James T. Walsh and Oscar Gatineau, and a relative: Msgr. Raymond Page who, it was alleged, introduced him to the other priests.   J. Kendrick Williams of Lexington, KY, abused no less than 100 under-age males.

Archbishop Rembert Weakland

Archbishop Rembert Weakland

Archbishop Rembert Weakland, Milwaukee, resigned over sex scandals on May 23, 2002, paying $450,000 in hush money to cover up long-term abuse allegations and resigned. He admitted to being gay in 2009 and did nothing to stop pedophile priests in Milwaukee (read: Weakland, Rembert (2009). A Pilgrim in a Pilgram Church: Memoirs of a Catholic archbishop. Grand Rapids, Mich. : William B. Eerdmans Pub. Co; Weakland is also the author of Faith and the Human Experience: a Post-Vatican II Vision. Daniel F. Walsh brought to his Santa Rosa, CA, diocese a self-admitted pedophile priest:  Jesuit Father Xavier Ochoa.  Ochoa told the bishop he had engaged in rape and oral sex with young boys.  He had given full details of the encounters, but did not state that the youngest was age 5 or the oldest age 14–and he had been arrested with child pornography and cocaine.  They did not bother Bishop Walsh, who worried more about the priest than the victims.  Instead of turning the priest over to the legal authorities, Bishop Walsh allowed Ochoa to flee to Mexico. Lawrence Welsh spent most of his energy in protecting pedophile priests whom he ordered to undergo counseling and prayer.

Bishop Bad Boy (cover)

Bishop Bad Boy (cover)

George Patrick Ziemann, who was known in gay circles known as Bishop Bad Boy and was arrested for “shaking down a priest for sex” in Santa Rosa, CA, has been considered for higher offices in the Roman Catholic Church by the Vatican and John Paul II, even after stepping down for several other dioceses.  A police report reveals that Ziemann had a young priest orally copulate him on the eve of their joint celebration of a special Sunday Mass, while continuing to have the support of San Francisco Archbishop William J. Levada and Los Angeles Cardinal Roger M. Mahony who was elevated to the cardinalate by John Paul II in 1999. In clerical circles of pedophiles Ziemann, Levada and Mahony, who all went to St. John’s Seminary College in Southern California, were known as the Tricking Trinity, with Ziemann passing on to his South American toy boys who he took to seminaries in California to study for the priesthood while he was plagued with venereal infections.

Bishop G. Patrick Ziemann (before resigning 1999)

Bishop G. Patrick Ziemann (before resigning 1999)

Carefully plotting, in order to cover up seductions, Ziemann began to pay out, on a grand scale, to those who threatened to report the preying prelate to the authorities.  One-night trysts were rewarded with $50 or $100 notes, despite having a long-time lover: Father Jorge Hume Salas who he brought into California from South America and raised to the priesthood. Father Hume Salas won a settlement from the diocese of Santa Rosa in the amount of $535,000 when Father Jorge Hume Salas claimed that Bishop G. Patrick Ziemann demanded sex in return for covering up Salas’ theft from his Ukiah church.  Hume Salas’ theft was ignored.

When professionals put together a learned study on how to end pedophilia in the clergy, the Doyle Manual was ignored.  Instead bishops, archbishops, and cardinals throughout the USA began to clamor against gay marriages since, homosexuality was only considered “friendship with benefits” as intoned by Chicago’s pseudo-primordial primate Francis cardinal George while letting pedophiles stay in his house, with the claim that the unsaintly John Paul II (read here and for the Amnesty International report here and on the connection with Pope John Paul II here and Benedict XVI here).  More vile, vitriolic  and criminal than Opus Dei founder Jeanmarie Escrivá or his pathetic pandering protégé Juan Luis cardinal Cipriani Thorne of Lima (Perú), John Paul II did nothing, and appeared to have approved of his actions (read here and here and here).  On Benedict XVI’s connection, read here.

Cardinal George declared that gays “invited obvious comparison” with the KKK since they did not follow the Roman Catholic Church’s objections. George told Chicago Fox affiliate: “You don’t want the gay liberation movement to morph into something like the Ku Klux Klan, demonstrating in the streets against Catholicism.”  The Chicago cardinal wrote:

the organizers invited an obvious comparison to other groups who have historically attempted to stifle the religious freedom of the Catholic Church. One such organization is the Ku Klux Klan which, well into the 1940′s, paraded through American cities not only to interfere with Catholic worship but also to demonstrate that Catholics stand outside of the American consensus. It is not a precedent anyone should want to emulate

The Chicago Church’s handling of priestly cases with cardinal George ignoring complaints from parents (read here and here) . This short survey does not include bishops accused of sexual misconduct with adults, such as Archbishops Robert F. Sanchez, Eugene Marino, or Theodore Mc Carrick nor Bishops Manuel D. Moreno or James F. McCarthy (read here and here and here and here and here). The crass cavernous of Christianity in general reflects, embeds, and reduces homophobic religion to an absurdity that many will leave. The greatest error is the lack of knowledge of pedophilic overtures, actions, and results, as most victims and their abusers are unwilling to discuss their afflictions and inflictions. This must stop. The Roman Catholic Church’s regular release of statements on pedophile priests and pedophile nuns and protecting the young of the church are worthless (read here and here with the Irish government’s Commission report here:  cp. here and here).

What has not been said or printed by the mainstream media is the number of gay and lesbian “confessors and martyrs” who have been raised to the altar by popes as saints within the Roman Catholic Church.  This goes back to the original founding of the Christian Church (Paulinity) in the fourth century with recognition of same-sex marriages back to the first century CE.

The youth protection charter says that a priest accused of child abuse must be removed until his case is resolved. For bishops who conceal or move or condone such priests, there is no penalty. Bishops, archbishops, cardinals and auxiliaries serve at the pleasure of the pope. The problem has been that many popes throughout the history of the Roman Catholic Church have been pedophiles and/or homosexuals (i.e. John XII (r. 955-964) , Benedict IX: (r. 1033-1045; 1047-1048), Paul II (r. February 23 – August 30, 1471 who died in a homosexual activity (he was being sodomized by a teenage page in the Vatican); Deschner, Karlheinz (2007). Storia criminale del cristianesimo (tomo VIII), Ariele, Milano, p. 216.  Cawthorne, Nigel (1999).  Das Sexleben der Päpste. Die Skandalchronik des Vatikans, Benedikt Taschen Verlag, Köln, p. 171. Kühner, Hans (1977). Das Imperium der Päpste, Classen Verlag, Zürich 1977, p. 254. Rendina, Claudio (1983)  I Papi, Storia e Segreti, Newton Compton, Roma, 1983, p. 589), Sixtus IV (Francesco Della Rovere, 1414-84; reigned 1471-84; his nephew, who was his lover, persauded the pope to build the Sistine Chapel that, ultimately Michelangelo would paint passages from the Bible on the ceiling and walls).

Pope Benedict IX, age 20

Pope Benedict IX, age 20

Benedict IX (c. 1012 – c. 1056), born in Rome as Theophylactus of Tusculum, he was a nephew of Pope Benedict VIII and Pope John XIX and was Pope on three occasions between 1032 and 1048, the first time being a gift from his father,  Alberic III, Count of Tusculum.  One of the youngest popes in the official list ofpopes (he was 18 or 20, in the Catholic Encyclopedia, 1913–although some records have him being age 11 or 12 (Russel, Bertrand (1945).  History  of Western Philosophy. New York: Simon and Schuster, p. 412)–the first time he was enthroned).  Benedict was known for repeated sodomies that he “forced him” to proclaim it was proof of his election as a superior man given his “staying power”, and “other irregularities” that included the actual sale of the papacy.  The pope had a desire for any one who was sufficiently “ample”; cf. Damian, Liber Gomorrhianus; “Cuius vita quam turpis, quam freda, quamque execranda extiterit, horresco referre”), Pope Victor III (1934). Monumenta Germaniae Historica, Libelli de lite (Dialogi de miraculis Sancti Benedicti Liber Tertius auctore Desiderio abbate Casinensis ed.). Hannover: Deutsches Institut für Erforschung des Mittelalters. pp. 141, cf. Bishop Benno, “Post multa turpia adulteria et homicidia manibus suis perpetrata, postremo, etc.” He flaunted his homosexuality and delighted in orgies in churches, “adulteries and murders” making himself unwelcomed everywhere (“Post multa turpia adulteria et homicidia manibus suis perpetrata, postremo, etc.”Dümmler, Ernst Ludwig (1891) (in Latin), Monumenta Germaniae Historica, Libelli de lite, I (Bonizonis episcopi Sutriensis: Liber ad amicum ed.), Hannover: Deutsches Institut für Erforschung des Mittelalters, pp. 584).

Pope Benedict XII

Pope Benedict XII

Benedict XII (de Rosa, Peter (1988/2000). Vicars of Christ: The Dark Side of the Papacy. Dublin:  Poolbeg Press, pages 211-215), like other Pope Benedicts, Benedict XII preferred to hide his sexual excesses.  Born at Saverdun in the province of Toulouse, France, and christened with the name of Jacques Fournier (he is also known as Jacques Bertrand de Got).  Son of Pope John XXII and grandson of Pope Clement V, Jacques became a Cistercian, and ultimately the third of the Avignon Popes, when his father Pope John XXII died on December 4, 1334.  Jacques the younger was made Pope by the now dominant French Cardinals fourteen days later on December 20th 1334 at the age of 27 and reigned from 1334 to 1342, dying at the age of 35.  Benedict XII  issue papal bulls that were heretical on previous well established doctrine of the Catholic Church including a Papal Bull (since destroyed) denouncing the concept of Immaculate Conception since it has no biblical foundation. Contemporary records note that he opened churches for sexual orgies, and enjoyed the torture of children as an entertainment while he dined and was known for sexual exploitation of very young girls and boys. In  1337, Benedict XII sent soldiers into Bavaria, Austria and Poland to attack 51 Jewish towns.

Pope Julius II (by Titian)

Pope Julius II (by Titian)

Julius II (r. 1503-1513) the warrior Renaissance pope who commissioned Michelangelo and other artists, sculptors and silverworkers (read here and here) had a fondness for soldiers in uniform. Julius was universally known as a passive sodomite and the quickest way to rise in both the armed forces of the Vatican states or in the hierarchy of the church was to be active in all things, especially in bed. Most of the cardinals he appointed “came from the papal bedchamber” after “suitable and audible” groaning.  One characteristic that most pedophiles have had in the past and today, is Julius always kept a choir of young male voices in his bedroom to sing to him when he was weary or wanted company.

Pope Leo X

Pope Leo X

Leo X (r. 1513-1521; Falconi, Carlo (1987).  Leone X: Giovanni de’ Medici, Milano: Rusconi, 1987) who was pope at the time of Martin Luther (who also had at least one male friend), and believed Luther to be a “mad monk” who could be enticed with Vatican “appeal” to denounce his own theses.  Leo X was convinced that he could win the allegiance of Luther with well-placed gifts.  He was the last “non-priest” (he was not a priest at the time of his election, only a deacon) to be elevated to the papal throne.  Francesco Guicciardini, considered one of the major political writers of the Italian Renaissance (cf. Gilbert, Felix (1985). Machiavelli and Guicciardini: Politics and History in Sixteenth-Century Florence (Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press), wrote, “At the beginning of his pontificate most people deemed him very chaste; however, he was afterwards discovered to be exceedingly devoted – and every day with less and less shame – to that kind of pleasure that for honour’s sake may not be named”.  Bishop and writer, Paolo Giovio, explained that Leo seemed to have “an improper love for some of his chamberlains” especially the very young and those with a “well turned [muscular] thigh” (McCabe, Joseph (1939). History of the Popes. London, UK: Watts & Co., p. 409).

Pope Julius III

Pope Julius III

Julius III (1550-1555; Burkle-Young, Francis A., and Michael Leopoldo Doerrer. The Life of Cardinal Innocenzo del Monte: A Scandal in Scarlet, Lewiston, N.Y.: Edwin Mellen, 1997) was a a homosexual pedophile who  preferred males 11 to 13 year of age, unlike many of his crony heterosexaul pedophile cardinals who preferred young girls.  One notable scandal surrounded his adoptive nephew (“nephew” was a title, not a family distinction in the Renaissance), Innocenzo Ciocchi Del Monte, a 13 or 14-year old beggar-boy whom the future Pope had picked up off the streets of Parma some years earlier and with whom he had allegedly fallen in love.  The pope showered the youth with gifts and found no place too sacred to have sex.  Julius III ultimately making Innocenzo a cardinal in the Roman Catholic Church and primary pimp in the Vatican.

Throughout the sordid history of the papacy, the popes have protected themselves by protecting other pedophiles. While traditional marriage advocates cite Scripture as the basis of their objections to civil unions and gay marriage (while in the Bible there is no rule that marriage is reserved for one man + one woman; read here and here), Roman Catholic leaders have been highlighting their belief that same-sex relationships violate natural law, which it does not as more than 1500 species practice homosexuality regularly and repetitively (read here and here and here; cp. Sommer, Volker & Paul L. Vasey (2006). Homosexual Behaviour in Animals, An Evolutionary Perspective. Cambridge, UK: Cambridge University Press) and is especially common among herding animals (where both genders are available). According to the tradition of “natural law”, every human being must seek a fundamental “good” that corresponds to the natural order to flourish and propagate, that Francis George bases on Tomas Aquinas Dark Ages ideology (Summa Theologica IaIIae 91, 2, 94, 4; 94, 6, but were modified by Thomas Hobbes (Leviathan, xv, ¶35, ¶36, ¶41).  Natural-law proponents say heterosexual intercourse between a married man and a woman serves two intertwined good purposes: to procreate and to express a deep, abiding love. Based on that absurd definition and there are species that experience “virgin births” (parthenogenesis: παρθενος, “virgin”, + γενεσις, “birth”.  The primary objection by religion is that it takes away the necessity of there being a male in the birth cycle; theologically it means that no man would have been necessary any more than any deity for Mary to conceive and give birth as it would be a dividing and evolution of cells), they say, homosexual relationships are not equal to heterosexual ones.  That fact is that there are fewer gay divorces than there are straight divorces. “It is physically impossible for two men or two women to consummate a marriage, even when they share a deep friendship or love,” George writes in psychological and intellectual ignorance (Kurdek, Lawrence A.; Schmitt, J. Patrick (1986). “Relationship quality of partners in heterosexual married, heterosexual cohabiting, and gay and lesbian relationships”. doi: 10.1037/0022-3514.51.4.711 Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Vol 51(4), October, pp. 711-720; the stagnation between differences (heterosexual and homosexual) are the focal point of Greenberg, Leslie S. Nazi Extermination of Homosexuals. New York: Stein and Day, 1981. pp. 105-107; Giles, Geoffrey J. When Father Andrew D. McCormick of Philadelphia was arrested for molesting one boy and later confessed to molesting five boys, the cardinal of Philadelphia did nothing, but followed precedent. McCormick made a number of trips to Poland with parish boysMcCormick made a number of trips to Poland with parish boys, and it is believed he molested several.

Father Patrick G. McCormick of Philadelphia was arrested for “patronizing a prostitute.”  The priest tried to bully parishioners into “forgiving” abusive clergy, but many would not.

The same is true when Father Daniel McCormick of Chicago was arrested in 2007, for molesting boys (plural), but in the case with the cardinal of Chicago involved, George fired the principle, Barbara Westrick (read here and here and here), who reported the abuses to the police since the cardinal refused to do anything (but later said he was not informed of the molestation), and changed the name of the school from Our Lady of the Westside School to St. Agatha’s School (named after a lesbian saint).  Daniel McCormick was ultimately transferred to a mental health center as a sexually violent person in Rushville, IL. This came after October 2005, when George ignored his own archdiocesan review board’s recommendation to remove McCormack.

George allowed the self-admitted pedophile priest to continue teaching and coaching. George’s ever increasing ignorance and pretense of lack of knowing what was going on in schools to his own house cost the Chicago archdiocese $3.2 million to one victim, another $1.5 million to pay off one of the young male victims, with some declaring that the cardinal was in bed with an altar boy while the money from congregations continued to hemorrhage for more than 186 victims from the torn tithing extorted from ignorant faithful who supported their cavorting cardinal.

George’s payoffs were quickly matched or exceeded by other bishops throughout the USA, including Bishop Tod Brown of Orange County paying $100 million to 90 victims, Cardinal Roger Mahoney of Los Angeles paying $660 million to settle 500 cases, Bishop Robert Brom of San Diego paying $198 million to 140 cases, Bishop William Skylstad of Spokane paying $48 million to settle a non-disclosed number of victims, Bishop Martin Amos of Davenport, Iowa, paying $37 million for 157 cases, and the Society of Jesus in Oregon paying $50 million for 110 cases (read: Jason Berry “Is the Church really this blind?” Los Angeles Times. 11-11-07 on-line.  Paul A. Likoudis (2002).  Amchurch Comes Out – The U.S. Bishops, Pedophile Scandals and the Homosexual Agenda,” Petersburg, Illinois: Roman Catholic Faithful, Inc, inside cover. The New York Times online, February 2, 2005). George still refuses to admit the seriousness of the problem of pedophile priests, and even invited several to stay in his house in Chicago over the protest of parishioners who knew what the guests had done in previous. “People live out their sexual identity in different ways, but the Church offers the means to live chastely in all circumstances, as the love of God both obliges and makes possible,” George’s letter states, meaning gay people should live celibate lives or risk going to Hell.  John Paul II rejected the existence of a literal (real) hell. On July 28, 1999, Pope John Paul II noted that the Scriptural references to hell and the images portrayed by Scripture are only symbolic and figurative of “the complete frustration and emptiness of life without God. ” He added, “Rather than a physical place, hell is the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy.” He said hell is “a condition resulting from attitudes and actions which people adopt in this life.”  Benedict XVI brought back a physical hell to further intimidate dissenters.

Curiously, Cardinal George’s letter, which was also signed by six Illinois Bishops, adds that if same-sex marriage becomes legal in Illinois, it will be challenging for him and, supposedly, all Catholics, to maintain their respectability. George is worried same-sex marriage equality will make the public label Catholics who don’t support the new law “bigots.” The dictionary defines “bigot” as “a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.” (Collins English Dictionary – Complete & Unabridged 10th Edition 2009). “We will all have to pretend to accept something that is contrary to the common sense of the human race. Those who continue to distinguish between genuine marital union and same sex arrangements will be regarded in law as discriminatory, the equivalent of bigots. This proposed legislation will have long term consequences because laws teach; they tell us what is socially acceptable and what is not, and most people conform to the dictates of their respective society, at least in the short run.” George, mocking the very concept of civil rights, also pretends that the Bible gives him this authority (this is a rank misreading of Matthew 16:18: κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ πύλαι ᾅδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς, a verse that was transmogrified in a ninth century monastery in Dark Europe with a papal reinforement of the nineteenth verse: καὶ δώσω σοι τὰς κλεῖς τῆς βασιλείας τῶν οὐρανῶν καὶ ὃ ἐὰν δήσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται δεδεμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς καὶ ὃ ἐὰν λύσῃς ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἔσται λελυμένον ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς), and that his bigotry is merely “God’s law,” and the law of nature: “If we ignore in law the natural complementary of man and woman in creation, then the natural family is undermined. Our individual lives become artificial constructs protected by civil “rights” that destroy natural rights. Human dignity and human rights are then reduced to the whims of political majorities. When the ways of nature and nature’s God conflict with civil law, society is in danger. It is to that danger that we direct your attention.” He adds: Marriage [defined as a social union or legal contract] comes to us from nature (but animal: fowl, beast, fish, etc. do not marry, and 90% of all observed birds (especially trumpeter swans) do mate for life as a source of sex and because of altricial offspring, which require large amounts of parental care for survival (like humans), demand the efforts of two parents and therefore are more likely to be found in monogamous species, but marriage is not natural as there is no record of any observation of a ceremony being performed by or for any animals, save the one case in Lima, Peru, where former Congresista and erotic dancer Suzy Diaz married had her dog marry another dog. Marriage is manmade). The human species comes in two complementary sexes, male and female. Their sexual union is called marital [sic; it actually means “married man”. Haviland, William A.; Prins, Harald E. L.; McBride, Bunny; Walrath, Dana (2011). Cultural Anthropology: The Human Challenge (13th ed.). Cengage Learning. Bell, Duran (1997). “Defining Marriage and Legitimacy”. Current Anthropology 38 (2): 237–254. Bell describes marriage as “a relationship between one or more men (male or female) in severalty to one or more women that provides those men with a demand-right of sexual access within a domestic group and identifies women who bear the obligation of yielding to the demands of those specific men.” This inbreeds the ignorance of the writers of the Letters of “Paul” and early misogynism as in Colossians 3:18 Αἱ γυναῖκες ὑποτάσσεσθε τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ὡς ἀνῆκεν ἐν κυρίῳ, cp. mulieres subditae estote viris sicut oportet in Domino and Nevestelor, fiţi supuse bărbaţilor voştri, cum se cuvine în Domnul, and Жены, повинуйтесь мужьям своим, как прилично в Господе] or the 1569 version of the Sagradas Escrituras Casadas, estad sujetas a vuestros propios maridos, como conviene en el Señor. It not only creates a place of love for two adults but also a home for loving and raising their children. It provides the biological basis for personal identity.” Exposing extreme ignorance of the reality of psychology and science, George finalized: “It is physically impossible for two men or two women to consummate a marriage, even when they share a deep friendship or love.’ George ignores that LGBT people engage in sexual intercourse and have the same commitment and emotions as heterosexual couples (Herek, Gregory M. (2007). “Science, public policy, and legal recognition of same-sex relationships”. doi: 10.1037/0003-066X.62.7.713b. American Psychologist, Vol 62(7), October, pp. 713-715; Thyer, Bruce A. Even Regnerus himself acknowledges he wasn’t comparing apples to apples: “I realize that one same-sex relationship does not a lesbian make, necessarily. But our research team was less concerned with the complicated politics of sexual identity than with same-sex behavior.”‘ are elaborated here).

What the Roman Catholic Church in the USA is doing, is what is happening in Germany today–with the German hierarchy stopping all investigations into child abuse by its religious leaders: priests, nuns, bishops, archbishops and cardinals.  In an interview with public broadcaster “Deutschlandfunk,” Christian Pfeiffer, the head of the KFN institute accused Church officials of hampering his team’s research efforts by continually attempting to intervene in and control the investigation. In an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper he spoke of censorship. In an interview with public broadcaster “Deutschlandfunk,” Christian Pfeiffer, the head of the KFN institute accused Church officials of hampering his team’s research efforts by continually attempting to intervene in and control the investigation. Satanic Verses, Islam, Allah and his Daughters, Homosexuality and Koran

Charles Gilbert Chaddock

Like the Torah, the Bible, and numerous other religious writings, there is no word for ‘homosexual’ or ‘homosexuality’ in the Koran. The word was not invented until 1892 by Charles Gilbert Chaddock and then was used in a psychological framework (ref: Chaddock, Charles Gilbert (1892), trans. Psychopathia sexualis, with special reference to contrary sexual instinct: a medico-legal study by Richard von Krafft-Ebing. Philadelphia, PA, USA, and London, UK: F. A. Davis Co. Original was published in German in 1886 under the title Psychopathia sexualis : eine klinisch-forensische Studie and the neither the word homosexuelle nor the word Homosexualität appears in the first edition; the one cited here is an authorized translation of the seventh enlarged and revised German edition).  Professor Warren Blumenfeld, of Iowa State University, was kind enough to send me a note that the words “homosexual” and “heterosexual,” actually were coined by Károly Mária Benkert (a.k.a. K.M. Kertbeny) in 1869.  I am not fortunate to have an original copy of it, but learned of him from a Spanish work Pioneros de lo homosexual (Rubí, Barcelona : Anthropos, ©2007, Spanish). I will try to find a copy of the original edition as I am not fond of redactions or reprints.

Hanging gays in Iran

The original word in the plethora of sacred scripture that was usurped by the hybrid is ‘indecency’ that had a double standard: women condemned of it were sentenced to stay in the house until they died, while males were to be punished according to the Book Women in the Koran (al-Nisa 4:15-16), hanging nor stoning were demanded. In The Heights (al-A’Raf) 7:74-84, the word used is ‘indecent acts’ and is a reference to slaughtering a female camel as a form of worship that required “nakedness”.

Taliban execute two Afghan women

Etymologically, the term awrah derives from the root ‘a-w-r’ that means “defectiveness,” “imperfection,” “blemish” or “weakness.” In Persian and Kurdish (Persian: عورت) as well as Urdu, the word awrat is derived from the Arabic awrah, and had been used widely to mean “woman.”

Muslim youth executed as gay for being handsome

The alleged sin of “indecency” was with the woman and had nothing to do with sex but with her beauty being an entrapment for men of “weak spirit” who could give up Islam (submission) for the sake of sex with the woman, and later any beautiful male who exposed his beauty by not growing a long and scraggly beard to cover his face.  This posed a problem as there was no such prohibition in pre-Islamic Arabic where the love of beauty was praised.  The prohibition came with the advent of patriarchy in a once-matriarchal and matrilineal society that occurred with the invention of the novel religion of ancient Egyptian mercenaries known as Is-Ra-El (Israelites named after the Egyptian Trinity of Isis, Ra, and El—the latter word meaning “master” or “lord” and was associated with an employer as well as a god, usually Horus) when the Koran borrowed heavily from the Torah.

Qadesh goddess of fertility

As in the Torah the word “indecency” that is now associated with sodomy actually meant in its original format a disrobing in front of an individual in quest of sex as a religious ritual to please the gods.  Many times we find this word used to describe Quedesh (also spelled Qadesh) that was and remains a popular name for Egyptian female babies, but also referenced the nude goddess of fertility and wealth ().  The defectiveness of the “indecent acts” was the desire to bring women into the worship of the gods.  To this end, the rule of Islam required women to pray segregated from men so that men would concentrate on their prayers and not on the derrières of the women who might be kneeling in front of them.  Anuses are reserved for the pleasure and view of the gods, but not mortals (ref. The Cow (al-Baqarah) 2:223; cp. Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2159).

al-Uzza daughter of Allah

The word awrat, frequently penned or printed alongside the word za’ifeh (that derives from Arabic za’if, meaning “weak” and sometimes “passive”), has long been associated with femininity and women who lived under the protection and prowess of a man who in the ancient Arabic world found great pleasure in raping his wife to prove his authority and superiority. Any form of femininity in face, figure, mannerism, or especially speech, was considered evil since the gods of the desert, from which came Allah (originally a pig herder) and his three daughters (read: The Star (al-Najm, hereafter cited as Sura 53) 53:19-20: Lat, Uzza, and Manat.  While Allah became, over time, the chief god of Mecca, his daughters were as powerful and popular.  It was not until the sixth century CE (1 HE), that the daughters of an over-sexed Allah were considered evil and the authors of the Satanic Verses.  These are the Satanic Verses:

Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-‘Uzzá
and Manāt, the third, the other?
These are the exalted gharāniq, whose intercession is hoped for.

According to legend, these verses (that still appear in some editions of the Koran) were put in to appease Mecca, a city Muhammad was fighting.  Later, Allah changed his mind on their appropriateness, and rescinded their inclusion  in Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj) 22:52.  Much later, as the Koran was written over the period of Muhammad’s lifetime, Muhammad resumed his attack on Mecca, and belittled the daughters of Allah, in The Star (al-Najm) 53:19-21.  Neither Allah nor his Prophet Muhammad could ever make a decision and stay with it, as the fickle nature of both god and prophet was like wind, constantly churning and turning.

Mannat appears as Artemis

The Bedouin god Allah was sexually connected (sometimes the word is “married”) most of the time to al-Uzza, “the Strong One”, The Most Mighty”, “The Mighty One who was a pre-Islamic Arabian goddess.  Al-Uzza was believed to be a virgin warrior and venerated as the youngest in the triad of goddesses. Al-Uzza was one of the most venerated Arab deities, and the Goddess of the Morning and Evening star: the planet Venus.

Ishtar Semitic goddess

Ishtar Semitic goddess / al-Uzza

Al-Uzza is the counterpart and equal of the Middle Eastern goddess Ishtar, whom the Greeks referred to as their goddess Aphrodite Urania (Heavenly Aphrodite: purest sexual orgasm).  In other Semitic societies, especially those of Ethiopia and what would become Coptic groups, Al-Uzza was Beltis (a word that translates as “Lady” and is used by other Semitic goddesses associated with the night star who would wed the Morning Star: Satan, a Samarian and Babylonian word for Advocate, not Betrayer, but one who enable others to see what they really were).

Money was developed in order to support the worship of Ishtar

A blood-thirsty goddess, Al-Uzza requires regular ritual sacrifices: both animal and human, and is the deity that demanded the mythological Abraham to slay his son in her honor.  Al-Uzza is still venerated secretly by many desert Muslims, especially Bedouin tribes, and even has a small following in Iran (ancient Persia).  The greatest challenge for Allah was to keep his daughter-wife away from her sisters with whom he also had sex, when not penetrating mortals. Being a god, frequently drunk on wine like the mythological Noah, he was entitled to penetrate any orifice even though mortals had to experience only coitus intercourse.

Al-Uzzá , Allāt, Manāt, Nemesis required sacrifice by Muhammad

Even his alleged Prophet Muhammad, according to the Koran, recognized this three female Trinity. Hisham ibn al’Kalbi writes in his Kitab al-Asnan (Book of Idols): “We have been told that the Apostle of Allah once mentioned al-Uzza, saying, ‘I have offered a white sheep to al-‘Uzza, while I was a follower of the religion of my people’.” (p. 17)

When Muhammad forced conversions to Islam (a word that means submission; few conversions were voluntary as noted in the Koran), Muhammad denied his claim, although he required his Remembrancers to repeat it frequently so that their future students would ultimately write it down when the Koran was finally written.  Muhammad stated that the words were put into his mouth by Satan and called the verses the Satanic Verses (read: The Star (al-Najm) 53:19-23).

Satanic verses – Top banned books of all time

Neither the semi-literate Remembrancers nor history has forgotten that Muhammad was a pagan and repeated the verses frequently.  This did not change until former camel driver became powerful, invented Islam after returning from his travels in the desert, and forced his hybrid faith on hundreds of thousands by the sword.  We read in Tabari, Annals 1.1192-1193 = Tabari vi: 108-109: “When the Messenger of Allah saw how his tribe turned their backs on him and was grieved to see them shunning the message he had brought to them from Allah, he longed in his soul that something would come to him from Allah that would reconcile him with his tribe. With his love for his tribe and his eagerness for their welfare, it would have delighted him if some of the difficulties which they made for him could have been smoothed, and he debated with himself and fervently desired such an outcome. Then Allah revealed (Sura 53) … and when he came to the words “Have you thought al-Lat and al-Uzza and Manat, the third, the other?” (Sura 53:19-20) Satan cast on his tongue – because of his inner debates and what he desired to bring to his people – the words: “These are the high-flying cranes; verily their intercession is to be hoped for.” When the Quraysh heard this, they rejoiced and were happy and delighted at the way in which he had spoken of their gods, and they listened to him, while the Muslims, having complete trust in their Prophet with respect of the message which he brought from Allah, did not suspect him of error, illusion or mistake.”  By his admission, Muhammad acknowledged Allah was not yet omnipotent, omniscient, nor omnipresent (all-powerful, all-knowing, or everywhere as his elevation to the status of an only god was not yet ready and Allah shared the altars and prayer rugs with a plethora of pagan deities). The rise in the status and stature of Allah would not occur until Arabia would be conquered, synagogues and Christian gathering places closed, slaves taken (women for harems and Blacks as forced workers).

While today’s Iranian ayatollahs (Iran being among the last nations to cave into the invented faith of a purified and sexless Allah) rant against the Satanic Verses and those who even utter the two words are condemned to death by fatwa (read here and here), the Islamization of pagan Arabian religion, the fervent Muslim version of Allah has never escaped from his two daughters al-Lat and al-Uzza.

Iong before Islam, the Sabeans in Arabia worshipped a moon-god that became Allah’s daughter al-Lat

Both of these superior goddesses continue to appear on top of nearly every mosque and even on the flags of several “Muslim nations” in the form of the Crescent (sacred to the goddess al-Lat: The Cow (al-Baqarah)2:189) and the Star or Planet (the symbol of the power of the goddess al-Uzza:  العزى‎ who had her own temples or mosques, long before Allah was granted similar dignity and reverence).  None of Allah’s daughters were ignored by Muhammad, because Muhammad continued to see the goddess as interceding angels (Sura 53.26-29: see especially verse 26: How many so ever be the angels in the heavens their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him. Verily it is they who believe not in the life to come, who name the angels with names of females: But herein they have no knowledge: they follow a mere conceit; and mere conceit can never take the place of acceptance of truth). Compare The Ranks (al-Saffat) 37:149-50 and Ornaments of Gold (al-Zukhruf) 43.18-19. True Islam is polytheistic as it is barbaric and blood-thirsty.

Tashkent, This is one of the oldest Quran in the world over1300 years but 100-200 years after Muhammad died

Current copies of the Koran are corrupt, their corruption actually being noted within the Koran itself. The unholy Koran reads in the chapter entitled The Cow (al-Baqarah) 2:106” Such of our revelation as we abrogate or cause to be forgotten, we bring (in place) one better or the like thereof”. Repeatedly Allah makes mistakes, changes his mind, and incorporates superior worship and deities within his own pantheon of mythology according to the principle of nasikh and mansukh, abrogating and abrogated verses, by means of which Allah revokes and alters the announcements of his will; this results in the cancellation of a verse and the substitution of another for it.  The belief in the incorruptibility of the Koran is totally unfounded and imaginary because the Muhammadan records in the Hadiths prove that the Koran that we have today has little resemblance to what Muhammad had in mind in his days.

The fact that Satan deceived Muhammad at least one time proves how easily this pretender prophet was prone to deception.  If the Satan deceived Muhammad one time, why would not the Satan deceive Muhammad other times, as we find in other Muslim literature?  The Satan of Muhammad was the same celestial advocate in the Babylonian accounts of The Advocate and frequently torments men on order of superior gods and goddesses, as in Job 2:1 where the deity is plural, and in Arabia were the Trinity of Three Daughters as they were in Crete and other ancient civilizations.

Allah became the deity of choice for Muhammad (in much the same way as most early Christian saints were pagan gods or warriors, such as St. George of the Dragon) in a way to win followers to his invented religion.  Al-Uzza was the best choice as she was also the goddess of the Canaanites who styled and named her as Asherah who the daughter of Leban sat on in the tent of Jacob (Genesis 31:19-35; cp. Ide, Arthur Frederick (1991). Yahweh’s Wife: Sex in the Evolution of Monotheism: a Study of Yahweh, Asherah, Ritual Sodomy, and Temple Prostitution. Las Colinas, TX: Monument Press).

Asherah’s worship was decidedly homosexual (same-sex) and exceedingly popular among females who used her phallic shaped statues to comfort themselves when alone.  It is for this reason that the early prohibition against indecency was directed against women who used the statues of the goddess as artificial penises that proved more comforting than “the staff of life” and “Tree of Life”, both euphemisms for the reproductive penis on which hangs the “fruit of life” to continue reproduction, male community members used for rape and instant sexual gratification.

Burqa-clad woman on a Dagestani beach

The word awrat, as it is used in the Koran has the singular meaning of “vulnerable”.  A hadith (a purported saying or deed of Mohammad that explains the correlation between the Koran term and a woman) reads: “Awrah refers to anything that can easily be harmed just like a bare or exposed place. It becomes clear that the body of the woman is referred to as vulnerable because it is like a house that contains no walls and can be easily harmed and must be covered with appropriate clothing.” This gave rise to the burka or niqab as a way to designate women as unworthy, weak, and vulnerable.  Here the issue of sex refers only to the sexual weakness of women.

Use of a burka-clad woman suicide bomber by the Taliban to target a United Nations aid centre in Pakistan.

In a patriarchal and authoritarian state where women have no rights, women have no choice but to wear the hated clothing that makes them appear like pillars of salt mirroring the mythology of Lot’s condemned wife, they are slaves to the whim of any man, subject to honour killings and stoning for an alleged adulterous affair even if it was only removing the veil or touching a male who was not a relative, while the male (“who was tempted”) is subject only to a whipping. Chauvinism and sexism is as relevant in Islam.

Honor killings (Islam)

Honour killings not only consumes freedom in pandering Pentecostal and evangelical extremism in Christianity but rapes freedom in the Ultra Orthodox Jewish, Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox community where the senior religious officials, especially bishops in the Ukrainian church encourage people to throw stones at those individuals its bishops reject as “unworthy” and are “indecent” or presumed to be homosexual.  The Russian Orthodox Church is even worse, sending priests to the USA to instill fear and hatred pretending that each is a virtue.

Honor killings in India

The absurd insanity of honour killings are not only within the Muslim world, but had their origin in Hinduism in India.  Today there are frequent honor killings, especially in crowded areas that are feeling the reality of diversity and multiculturalism as in Bombay and Calcutta.

Hindu religious fanatics have the same cold-blooded thirst for revenge against what each person considers to be a threat, as do Muslims throughout the world.  Hindu honour killings are usually more brutal and frequently include murdering an entire family. Women are the first to be attacked, but males are also targeted by the ignorant steeped in religious mythology that is Hindu, Islam, Christian, or Jewish, for hatred knows no theological boundaries but attacks like starving wolves the defenseless.

Arizona honor killing

Today it infects and inflicts families throughout the USA, from Arizona to Georgia and beyond.  Arizona has become one of the most hate-filled states in the USA, closely followed by the southern tier of states: Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia where theology takes precedence over science (with Louisiana Governor Bobbie Jindal leading the charge to reestablish creationism and define evolution as a myth at worse or a theory at best, despite nearly 100 Nobel Laureates writing disclaiming his antediluvian views in support of quality education that nearly no longer exists in the state).

Honor killing in Georgia

Georgia has an increasing number of such honor killings as if it was filled with adulterers and misfits. Where honor killings occur those who commit the honour killings claim that it is their right to freedom of religion.

Honour killings are gaining support among evangelical extremists in Christianity and Ultra Orthodox Judaism.  Islam is extremely violent in large communities and where any study of diversity and cultures is silenced, downplayed, or scoffed at, especially by politicians who seek to capitalize on the differences, as seen in the baiting of Congressional Representative Michele Bachmann (R-MN).

Koran and Islamic bigotry, sexism, gynophobia and misogyny were engrained in Bedouin and Arabic cultures by Jewish traders who were infested with various ancient Abrahamic myths, beginning with the transmogrified fairytale of Adam (the Hebrew word אָדָם‎ translates as “red earth” but in Islam the Arabic is آدم‎ that is transmogrified into “clot of blood”) and Eve (Hebrew: חַוָּה, or Arabic: حواء‎) means “source of life” and was etymologically, linguistically and in annals of interpretation the superior of the two who shared Gan Eden.

The Arabic word awrah or awrat can easily be traced back to the Torah and the last book written that composed the Torah: Genesis.  In Genesis 9:22, anyone can read the painful misogyny in the Hebrew “nakedness”, “nudity”, “shame”, and “indecency” in the word עֶרְוָה (‘ervah). ‘Ervah has the root of ‘arah, which means “to bare” or “to expose oneself”.  By the time the numerous fanatics who penned the myth of Noah and incorporated this worldwide fraud into both the Torah and later the Koran, it meant “genitals” (primarily the penis) that fable declares Noah’s son saw, leading the drunkard to curse not Ham who had been blessed earlier, but instead Ham’s son and Noah’s grandson Canaan.

The curse was the illogical result of Ham allegedly seeing his father’s penis and scrotum.  Exactly what happened there is no record; some have conjectured that Noah was having intercourse with another woman (since there would be no law prohibiting adultery at that alleged time) but the ark only carried his family and his son’s wives, so if that was the case, the other woman would have been his daughter-in-law, and that was forbidden in Leviticus.  He could have been sodomized, but that, too, is implausible, for Ham told his brothers and they did not stone him for the act; therefore, it did not occur.

The simplest solution would be a repeat of the alleged sin on Onan “who spilled his seed upon the ground”: masturbation only figuratively as the actual act was coitus interruptus for we find no formal demand for execution of masturbators before the eighteenth century, but in either case the “loss of seed” would prevent the fertilization of an ova and lead to new life that the destroyed planet so desperately needed.  This would have constituted murder and Noah would have been the criminal, and would have died like Onan (Genesis 38:9; cp. Peter Wagner [sic] also printed on some versions as “Anonymous” (1710 and 1712). Onania: or, The Heinous Sin of Self-Pollution, and all its Frightful Consequences in Both Sexes, Considered. London: N.P.; by 1750, the book had gone through nineteen editions, each longer than the last, with the final pages written testimonials on “the vice” that was prohibiting “Virtue and Christian Purity”.  Much of the book is plagiarized from the 1670 publication by “a German physician” who wrote that “mansuprationem” [sic] led to gonorrhoea. Much of this shows the mental imbalance of such frauds as St. Peter Damian who warned people that the “wrath of God and eternal damnation” came to those who touched their “private parts”.  There were numerous calls from clergy (Roman Catholic and later Protestant) to meet the vice with the “force of the Muslimen [sic] and treat it as a form of murder).

What the records state that when the drunken Noah awakened naked in his tent (a prototype for the womb and rebirth) from drinking new wine, he found himself compromised.  It was this compromise that Ham saw, and his viewing it passively made Ham indecent, possibly because he was with his son.  The Talmud goes further than the Torah and takes the word to new lows of sanity by claiming that ‘ervah also means that a woman’s voice is “shameful” as well as “indecent”.

Gender-segregated Islamic prayer in NJ, women relegated to the back

The Hebrew concept of indecency led the man later Christian writers define as Saint Paul to demand that women remain quiet in church (1 Corinthians 14:34), and following Hebrew mythology that forbade women to sing in the synagogue as late as the thirteenth century CE (Kaftor ve-Perah, ed. Abraham Moses Lopez {Jerusalem 1897}, vol I.) so as not to sexually arouse males and lead to thoughts of coitus that was not vaginal (as reflected in the fable of Onan) but the mouth that was considered unclean to receive the “rod of Jesse” (Isaiah 11:1, out of which would come further and future generations) or the penis and the sperm that emits from it when the male was sufficiently aroused to the point of ejaculation.

Hittite Hebrew אוריה החתי was a soldier in King David s army (possibly Uriah)

The evil that the Abrahamic myth stirred in the Middle East came with the arrival of patriarchal patrimonies from India and Egypt that were protected by Hittites and their Israelite mercenaries who destroyed any sign of femininity then encountered, especially in the worship of Asherah, the goddess of love and fertility, who was known elsewhere as Venus.  Although two prophets of the Old Testament allowed women to sing (Isaiah 54:1 and Zechariah 2:10), the practice that was condemned by Samuel as a curse that would lead men into sinful wanton pleasure was intensified in its vilification by early Christian apostles and their self-serving successors the Paulinists who transmogrified Christianity into a religion of hate by self-appointed bishops, such as Justin Martyr, Irenaeus of Lyons and Augustine of Hippo and his bastard son (uniquely named Adeodatus) by a common whore who had no concept of the teachings of Jesus of the New Testament.  Augustine, “a wild fornicator, with many mistresses, and a bastard son” only lived on the fantasies and distortions of the Pauline school.

Emperor Constantine I burns Arius books from medieval codex

As I argue in another article, it was this school that issued Letters to congregations redefining and grotesquely distorting the tracts that originally were in Q and various Gospels that the Emperor Constantine I burned along with the writings of Arius and others who declaimed against the imperial church and the ruler who led it and destroyed original Christianity in favour of Paulinity. The original sees of Antioch and Jerusalem were ignored for the more novel and imperial backed backwater basilicas in Rome and Ravenna. This attack on the voice of the female continued throughout the Middle Ages and led to the castration of young males with “beautifully pitched high voices” so that men would not be musing on a woman’s singing (John Plummer ed. (1981), Vox Feminae: Studies in Medieval Women’s Song. Studies in Medieval Culture, XV. (Kalamazoo, MI, Medieval Institute Publications, p. 3; cp. Eric Werner, “Hellenism and Judaism in Christian Music,” Hebrew Union College Annual 20 (1947); p. 443).

Sodomy was a religious rite in nearly every society in the ancient world but was used primarily among married heterosexual couples as a form of birth control.  Male-male intercourse was a ritual within many religious communities where special priests were set aside as Qadesh Zadokite (dog priests or “Enariae”  later defamed as “dog priests”; the word “dog” in its original format translates as “loyal”) who were holy vessels to receive the liquid of life as recipients for the gods.  Muhammad borrowed from this to get the famed Black Stone (Kaaba) that originally housed Arabian gods. The origin of Kubaba may have been kube or kuba meaning ‘cube’: the stone associated with Cybele’s worship. Cybele was later called Allah in Arabia – and worshipped as a part of the CUBE, giving Allah, for a time, dual genders.

Y alchemy used with Kaaba rituals in pre-Islamic Mecca

Hubal (هبل: a pre-Islamic god who had a human form and was thought to control divination) was a lunar deity who most likely originated in Syria and was the son of al-Lāt, grandson of Allah, and the brother of Wadd (known variously as Ilumquh, ʻAmm and Sīn, was the Minaean pagan moon god whose special sign and token were snakes. Snakes were believed to be a sacred symbol and stood for knowledge and medical cure. He is mentioned in the seventy-first chapter known as Noah (Nuh) verse 23, as a deity of the time of the Prophet Noah who was the antecedent of Baachus, the god of wine and drunkenness), Cybele, and Allah were worshipped in pre-Islamic Arabia, notably at the Kaaba in Mecca.  An entire theology was built around this, including Allah who was both male and female, similar to the original YHWH.

The closest to the contemporary reference of the Qadesh is in The Poets (al-Shu’ara) 26:160-173, but it is ritual fornication. The reference in The Ant (al-Naml) 27:45-49 merely condemns men who were not prudent, until v. 55 has Lot stating that men were with men, but this is a gloss (although the Koran is correct in calling Lot’s visitors men, as the modern translation of them being “angels” is a fabrication and not linguistically justified). The only other reference is in The Spider (al-‘Ankabut) 29:27-28, but it is a general lamentation. Lot, again, speaks: “You commit indecent acts which no other nation has committed before you. You lust after men and assault them on your highways.  You turn your very gatherings into orgies.”  The words are simple but the message is obscure.

The clause “indecent acts which no other nation has committed before you” demonstrates that it was not sodomy as that has a long history depicted in art, engravings, and writings for thousands of years before the myth of Lot was written. Genesis 14-19 shows the Cities of the Plains to be at war, that commerce was hostage to brigands, and that favor with the Kings was rare unless, as with Abram, it would be cultivated by a comely woman.

Abraham sells sister/wife Sarah to King Abimelech

The “gatherings” were commercial profiteers who were male who had come together to sell everything from camels to fabrics, as detailed in the robberies of Abram who sold his wife into sexual slavery (Genesis 12:11-18 ff) only to claim bounty when he threatened extortion and war against the buyer.  Again the “sodomy” is a response to a beautiful (unveiled) female who was traded for cattle and hard goods.

For the “lust after men” it is a reference to a dark desire to have what another man or person has (Exodus 20:17 sq).   It has no relationship to the fable of Lot in Genesis 19, for that tale details how “all the people, men and women, of Sodom” came before the house of the sojourner to learn the

Lot and his daughters at Zoar (Genesis 19)

identies of the men who crept into the town like thieves at night.  While the Koran makes no references to Lot’s drunkenness nor his incest with his daughters, the Torah does include the account (Genesis 19:1-30) of the tryst in the mountains outside of Zoar.

Khadijah bint Khuwaylid was the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad

Khadijah bint Khuwaylid was the first wife of the Prophet Muhammad; this was her home (Rumah Nabi Muhammad Saw dan Sayyidah Khadijah)

“Lust after men” is synonymous with greed, the “men” being common and poor people (commoners and people of the street: the poor and criminal elements found in most societies where the division of wealth is acute and unbalanced).  This lust leads to theft of purse or camel and has no relationship to committing rape on any road.

Aisha age 8 and Muhammad age 54

It is not a sexual reference nor a threat or promise of any form of coitus if the bargain is between men, but rather a subtle warning if one of the traders was a woman, as with Muhammad’s first and far older wife Khadijah (he was 23 and she was 40) whom he married and took over her camel caravan (of 8000 camels) trade. At most it is a term used by predators who few wayfarers on the highway as weak and vulnerable, and thus are taunted and raped as if they were women as women had less value than men (Bukhari 62:58; on Muhammad’s twelve wives, one—Aisha—only seven years old, and numerous concubines, read here).

Afghanistan Muslims behead convert from Islam to Christianity (required by Allah in the Koran)

Since most of Islam is hybrid the “gatherings” were public meetings, as in an open market and the orgy references to haggling over price, a common custom but which was better understood as the negotiation of Jews who were merchants and thus considered unfit for salvation (obtaining a commission on a trade or sale). There is no death penalty for any of these alleged homosexual acts anywhere in the Koran, even though the Koran is the most violent, bloodthirsty volume told to the uneducated who lived in a world of violence. Muhammad became one of the great butchers and pedophiles of the world, massacring entire villages and desecrating corpses.

Muslim intolerance (2012)

Even though every chapter in the Koran begins with the pious ejaculation: “In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful”, there is no evidence in the Koran that Allah has or exercises any of those attributes.  The reverse is true, unfortunately, but in keeping with the gods of the Bedouins, Jews, Christians and numerous other cults. Allah rules by threats of violence and death, he is the ultimate Satan (Advocate) to weigh the soul of the individual and damn it to “the Fires”.  “As for the man or woman who is guilty of theft, cut off their (sic) hands to punish them for their crimes.  That is the punishment enjoined by God” (The Table (al-Ma’idah) 5:38).

Many Muslims love Hitler

Allah becomes the prototype of and for Adolf Hitler who many Muslims revere as fulfilling the promise of the Koran in ending the Jewish problem and enabling the disbelievers who had not accepted Allah to feel forever the Fires of Hell: “For the wrongdoers We have prepared a fire which will encompass them like the walls of a pavilion.  When they cry out for help they shall be showered with a water as hot as molten brass, which will scald their faces. Evil shall be their drink, dismal their resting place” (The Cave (al-Kafh) 18:29).

A man convicted of theft had his right hand and left foot cut off as required by the Koran.

Allah promises that those who make war on himself or Muhammad will be killed or crucified “or have their hands, and feet on alternate sides cut off” (5:33). Allah promises, in the second chapter (sura) of the Koran, known as The Cow (al-Baqarah), to torture nonbelievers “forever after they die” (2:10), and will burn those who attempt to compose a sura “better than those in the Koran” thereby rejecting private authorship (2:24). “Allah will shed human blood while angels praise him in heaven” (2:30) as “there will come a day when Allah will refuse all prayers and help no one” (2:48) as Allah brags about drowning the Egyptian army (2:50).  “Christians and Jews will suffer in this life and go to hell in the next” (2.85). “They [the disbelievers] have incurred anger upon anger. For disbelievers is a shameful doom” (2:90, 104) “Allah will make disbelievers’ lives miserable in this world and torture them forever after they die.” (2:114). “And you will not be asked about the owners of hell-fire [they are the non-Muslims]” (2:119). “The doom of the disbelievers will not be lightened” (2:162). Allah says that you must keep fighting until there is no more persecution [of Muslims] and everyone on earth is a Muslim. They you can stop killing people (2:193a). But if there are any wrong-doers around after you have killed off all the disbelievers, persecutors [of Muslims] and aggressors [against Muslims], then you will have to kill them, too (2:193b).

Islam is to dominate the world

Islam is to dominate the world.  All people will become Muslims or be killed.

War is ordained by Allah, and all Muslims must be willing to fight, whether they like it or not (2:216).  In Chapter 3 The Imrans (al-‘Imran) Those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, theirs will be a heavy doom (3:4). Those who disbelieve will be fuel for the fire (3:10). All non-Muslims will be rejected by Allah after they die (3:85). The fourth chapter, Women (al-Nisa) Allah decrees that Muslims are to have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them (4:89).

Muslims vow to kill all Jews

For the wrongdoing Jews, Allah has prepared a painful doom (4:160-161), despite the fact that Muslims argue that they are directly descended from Abraham and his bastard son Ishmael.  Abraham and Ishmael are revered as prophets, and the Jews are even called “People of the Book”.  That does not deter today’s Muslims from open warfare against Jews either with suicide attacks, murder, or poisoning with bombs set off within hospitals and schools, even if it means the slaughter of other Muslims to “rid the world of Jewry”.

Child terrorist

No age is respected as both females and males of all ages are subject to the ravages of jihad and Islam’s code of genocide. Children as young as five years of age have been sent girdled with explosives to blow up Israeli buses and checkpoints.

As if Martin Luther were writing the Koran, one reads the repetition that centuries later is used by the German Augustinian when he demanded in his catechism that Christians had to stand in “fear and trembling” before god, as the fifth chapter of the Koran: The Table (al-Ma’idah) dictates: “Fear me!” (5:3). Christians will be burned in the fire [of hell] (5:72). Those who deny the truth of Islam will be punished by Allah (6:6) an integrated part of the chapter entitled Cattle (al-An’am).  These Mephistophelean ministering by the madman Muhammad continue throughout his pornographic infect volume unabated, his god a whoring war monger more evil than any mortal measuring from Cassius to Hitler, and the paradise of the Muslim world a brothel of bating, badgering, bigotry: Entire nations have entered the Fire. Some get a double treatment (7:38 in The Heights, known in Arabic as al-A’Raf), but even the allegedly saved have no guarantee as the Koran goes further: Those in the Garden will plead with Allah not to be cast into the Fire (7:47) … Those in the Fire will cry out to those in heaven, saying, “Pour water on us” but All has forbidden that to disbelievers (7:50).

The Koran is nothing less than a bad plagiarism of far older writings, especially matching those of the Jews of Mecca he visited with before he went insane and fled into the desert like Moses haunted by the sacred Egyptian calf (Yah; the original Yahweh was a Samarian bull god): “Those who worship the calf will suffer terror and humiliation from Allah” (7:152).  The promise of divine wrath for “changing the word” is but a repetition of the promise in the Babylonian Book of Daniel (cf. 12:9 which is a reinterpretation of an Assyrian myth), and the revision by another lunatic: John of Patmos who penned his Apocalypse (Revelation 22:18-19).

World control

As with all other Middle Eastern religions, the emphasis was on strict adherence to the gods of the tribes, and to produce male children who would become warriors for a vengeful and hate-filled god. It must be remembered that the Koran was given to an illiterate camel tender, Muhammad by an angel who “revealed” the Koran to him, unlike Moses who YHWH physically chiseled and gave stone tablets to on his way out of Egypt. Muhammad’s angel’s name was Gabriel, the same Gabriel in the Book of Daniel (but the writers of this tale call Gabriel a man; Gabriel foretells the birth of Jesus and John the Baptist in the Gospel of Luke (1:11-38).  Gabriel is elevated to the status of archangel by the Imperial church after 380 CE, and is the prototype of the angel that comes to the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints: Joseph Smith who received his golden tablets from Moroni the son of the warrior-priest Mormoni (Book of Mormon, Moroni 1-3 read here) and had to translate them with stones from Moses’ brother Aaron’s breastplate  (Leviticus 8:8: האורים והתומים‎; they were actually from the far older civilizations of Assyria and Babylon, cp. 2 Samuel 28:3-6) with his head buried in a hat or standing behind a curtain) for the singular reason of developing a cult of personality.

Like Joseph Smith, who ran for president in 1844, Muhammad could not read nor write, he was not a great orator and what prophecies are accorded to him can be found in other Arabic (pagan), Christian, Jewish, Greek and Latin literature; but Muhammad had his Remembrancers memorize what he said.  Over the next two hundred years before anything was codified, numerous marginalia were inserted as part of the actual Koran (a word that literally means “recitation”)—a book, like the golden plates, special glasses and sorcery stones of Smith, have since been lost. Unlike Joseph Smith who received the entire book of Mormon at one time, Muhammad was entrusted with the Koran over a period of twenty-three years, beginning in 609 CE and ending with his death in 632 CE.  The Koran had several variances and redactions.  It was not until the third Caliph Uthman that there was any effort made to standardize the work, allowing for various innovations and insertions to change its text and meaning. Like the Christian Bible that started out with fifty copies as ordered by the Eastern Emperor of the Bishop of Caesarea, Eusebius, the Koran originally had only five copies with one sent to each of the major Muslim cities that had only outward allegiance to any of the others.  Rather than being a book of guidance, the Koran makes no pretense that it is also an enfeebled attempt to write hortatory history and embellish on reality emphasizing moral significance of an act rather than explaining narrative sequences of the day.

Fighting for Allah

The murderous mad maneuverings of Arabian ayatollahs (archbishops) follows only the distorted dicta of the corrupt Koran, repeatedly rewritten and changed, its scribes adding and subtracting at will as old Remembrancers forget what they had memorized or move words to fit the current situation or hold back on the evolution of time in a manner matching the meanderings of the German pope and former Nazi Youth Josef Ratzinger.  Their toil transmogrified whatever was the genuine message of hope (that Muhammad forfeited early during his bloody crusades against other Arabs) into a blast on the trumpet of perdition and discord. This is keenly known in Iran, a nation devoted to a paper product rather than a counsel of assistance to those less fortunate.

Iran military women

To counsel with or make privy social intercourse with Iran is equal to bringing a boar in a tuxedo to the dinner table hosted by the Tea/Republican Party in the USA, that, intellectually like Rush Limbaugh, Michele Bachmann, and Mitt Romney  is four cans short of a six-pack.

12 Apostles: Constellations, Numerology, &Theology in the world’s religions: Quest to Understand Origins; a study of textual criticism, translation, interpretation and linguistics

Christianity, like all religions, gives credence to numerology, and over the centuries has attempted to create perfect unions of numbers with beings. In order to fashion the perfect union, Christianity borrowed most of its theology, ontology, theophany, and religious ideology from other religions, philosophies, sciences and mathematics, and the writings the past contained.  From this plagiarism came the invention of a church created in 325 CE by the Emperor Constantine I.  It succeeded only by silencing the opposition, burning their books and their priests, and condemning those who do not accept as heretics, or those who leave the world of priestly disenchantment apostates.

1520, German religious reformer Martin Luther burning the papal bull

These practices all religions and secular and sacerdotal dictators have used from the beginning of recorded history in an effort to erase the past so they can rewrite it in their own image that was fanciful and lacking fact.  The belief continues that if a “reformer”  erases the words and the scriptures or volumes written by those you oppose, the opposition with melt away and be forced to join the new cult.  It was the raison d’être for the holocaust by the Hebrews in their war on the original inhabitants of Palestine: Canaanites, Palestinians, Philistines, etc., through the carnage of the crusades and Inquisition of the Roman Catholic

Taliban terrorists destroyed the Buddha statues with artillery and explosives in 2001 (carved ca 500 CE)

Today evangelical extremists and religious fundamentalists, especially among the Baptists and Pentecostals, burn comic books, magazines, books, films and whatever they cannot censor: seeing in the unwanted media “pornography”–which has led even to the destruction of centuries old statues, as when Islamic radicals (Taliban) dynamited the famed Buddhas along the Silk Road in Afghanistan in 2001.  The statues had been carved more than 1500 years prior to their destruction, but when Islam conquered Afghanistan after numerous blood baths and the butcher of women, children and the elderly, the theological students (Taliban) of the new faith (Islam) began their systematic destruction of the famed statues.  This did not abate, for religious zealots continued to hurl stones against the great Buddhas who preached peace while Islam called for war (jihad) and demanded the destruction of all images–even though the images of Imams and the Prophet Muhammad continued for more than 1000 years: appearing in books–even the Qur’an–and papers (as I have in my private library).

Constantine accelerated by burning the writings of Arius (that, based on what slender information that exits, was closer to the New Testament Jesus than the Jesus of the official catholic [universal] Church).

The Emperor Constantine and the Council of Nicaea, with Arius's books being burned, below. (Drawing on vellum. From MS CLXV, Biblioteca Capitolare, Vercelli, a compendium of canon law produced in northern Italy ca. 825)

Constantine I (known as “the Great”) was a firm “pagan” who was far more devoted to the worship of Mithras than any other deity.  He created the catholic [universal] Church to win over the growing number of converts to the new cult out of the Middle East in an effort to stabilize a decaying empire.

To buttress the Imperial state, he called together a small number of congregational leaders that history has deemed to be “bishops” to meet at the city of Nicaea.  At Nicaea the “bishops” hammered out details that led to a united group–coming out of the wreckage of various splinter entities that originated in Jerusalem and drifted away to Alexandria (the largest ghetto), Rome, numerous Greek πολις (polis: city-states), Egypt and other appendages to the empire.

Christianity and its various sects with different ideologies 325 CE

Constantine tried valiantly to get the various communities of “Christians”  (chrestianos and christianos) to come together.  His solution, was to incorporate as many of the various rites, rituals, adiaphora contents, and so forth into what would emerge as official “Christianity”—but with little in common with the Jesus of the New Testament.  Instead, Constantine’s “church” quickly took on the tapestry of Paulinity: complete with doctrines that are nowhere to be found in the Sayings of Jesus, but popular throughout the Roman Empire: End Times, Apocalypse, and numerology: especially glorifying and elevating the number 12.

A group of twelve things is called a duodecad. Twelve was an appropriate number for the religions of the empire, as it represented a common reality: the number of months in a year in the Western and Eastern European provinces, and the division of the skies represented by constellations reflecting the annual movement of heavenly bodies. Since education was weak to non-existent for most of the people of the empire, religion created mythologies and gave rise to numerous serendipitous superstitions and rank religious beliefs that were piled on top of respect for the number 12.

Zodiac : the constellations on the celestial sphere

Fortuitous fantasies and subsequent superstitions concerning signs of the Zodiac and life events have been, recently, comprehensively shown to be false. However, the shibboleth of ignorance brought with it a phylactery of priestly classes, pastors of congregations, and rabbis of writ to the detriment of learning, all disguised with the mask of the number 12. Eschatological symbolism in Judaism, as with the 12 Tribes of Israel (each being named after one of the twelve sons of Jacob) and early Christianity (with its invention of twelve apostles) was deeply indebted to the number 12, as will be discussed shortly.  But the debt that both Judaism and Christianity owe to this “divine number” goes beyond each of the religion’s history and antecedents.

Zoroastrianism was the religion during most of the Persian Empire

The ancient Zoroastrian religion had twelve commanders (depicted with wings) on the side of light (light being a symbol for the sun).  The ancient Zoroastrian holy book, the Menok i Xrat, says that the “twelve Signs of the Zodiac, as the Religion says, are the twelve commanders on the side of light” (Sagan, Carl (1995). Cosmos. Originally published 1981 by McDonald & Company; the 1995 edition was published at Avenel, NJ, USA: Wings Books: Distributed by Random House Value Pub.; another printing is by Abacus a division of Time Warner Books UK, at London, UK.  p. 58).

Ahriman tried to destroy Ahura Mazda's creation by starting a battle

Zoroaster’s commanders are like archangels: fighting against evil in a battle for the fate of the world, and their invention came with the introduction of the mythology of End Times, Apocalypse and a universal war.  According to Zoroaster, this Final Battle, the ultimate universal war, would be with Ahura Mazda (Ahura means “light” and Mazda means “wisdom” in the Old Iranian language. Ahura Mazda is the “lord of light and wisdom” a creator god who had no beginning but is now and will “forever be”) ultimately triumphing over wickedness and evil. Ahura Mazda’s counterpart is Angra Mainyu, the “evil spirit”.

Angra Mainyu is the creator of evil who will be destroyed in the Final Battle.  Zoroaster’s account antedates John of Patmos and his Apocalypse by 3000 years.  Zoroaster relates that Ahura Mazda gave the gods unique attributes: omniscience (all-knowing), omnipotence (all-powerful) and omnipresence (being everywhere).

Zoroaster’s Apostles spread out over the known world, following the same injunction that the followers of Jesus of the New Testament required of his believers, and matched in the nineteenth century CE by the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons).  The Twelve Apostles are the second highest ranking group in the Mormon church. and are known as the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

The First Presidency (must be selected unanimously) and the Twelve Apostles in September 1898. Reed Smoot is missing from this photograph

They serve under the direction of the First Presidency, which consists of three high priests (considered by some to be the Mormon Trinity) generally selected from the ranks of the Quorum of the Twelve.  Mormons believe that their Apostles are identical to those selected by the New Testament Jesus.  The Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith said:

They are the Twelve Apostles, who are called to the office of the Traveling High Council, who are to preside over the churches of the Saints, among the Gentiles, where there is a presidency established; and they are to travel and preach among the Gentiles, until the Lord shall command them to go to the Jews. They are to hold the keys of this ministry, to unlock the door of the Kingdom of heaven unto all nations, and to preach the Gospel to every creature. This is the power, authority, and virtue of their apostleship. (Joseph Smith, History of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7 vols. 2:200)

The Mormon Apostles seek unanimity in all their decisions. (Doctrine and Covenants 107:27).  The determine faith and morals, in the same manner as the Roman Catholic pontiff.

Current Mormon (LDS) Apostles

Apostles of the LDS serve for their lifetime, unless removed from their position for iniquity or through resignation.  Few resign or are removed.

In all cases there is strong similarity.  All begin with saviour gods who were born during the time of a bright star; are visited by wise men, minister and preach a universal peace, are crucified, die, are born again, and return for a final battle. The star-gazers and sun-worshippers of the ancient world would be proud that they were followed by a long series of cultures that imagined a collection of twelve gods:

Among all the gods worshipped by the Greeks, the twelve deities who dwelt on Mt Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, formed a special category of their own. The gods of Olympus were usually taken to be Zeus, Hera, Athena, Poseidon, Apollo, Artemis, Demeter, Hermes, Aphrodite, Ares, Hephaestus and Hestia. In certain local variations, positions among the ‘twelve’ were occupied by Pluto, Dionysus, Heracles or other local cult heroes.

(Mavromataki, Maria (1997).  Greek mythology and religion: cosmogony, the gods, religious customs, the heroes. Athens, Greece: Editions Haïtalis (Astrous 13, 13121). p. 24). In short, there was not a single religion in the ancient world through the time of Constantine and even beyond to the present day that did not have a savior god or goddess who called 12 Apostles to minister in his or her name.

The Greeks went further than many other faiths.  While the Greeks imagined 12 Gods living, creating, ruling and judging from Mount Olympus, they were aided by numerous sons and daughters (the more important deities had 12 sons in a manner similar to the Jewish Jacob) who numbered from 12 to 70 or 72 (cp. Luke 10:1; 72 is a more reasonable number for the disciples, as it is more easily divided by 12, the ultimate number being 6 that is half of 12).  I will discuss the spiritual significance of 6 later and how it applies to all theologies from ancient Ethiopia and Egypt to the present plethora of religious faiths and pseudo-religions such as the contemporary New Apostolic Reformation and others.

Fresco of Mithras slaying the bull, 2nd century CE, Marino, Italy

Out of this came the Passion of Mithras: the slaughter of the Sacred Bull, the yeh of Imperial Rome before much of it is incorporated by Imperial decree into Paulinity.  The religion was a direct challenge to the rise of various Jewish sects, including that of Christian Judaism.

Mithras and his 12 Apostles (signs of the Zodiac)

The followers of the God Mithras, who was born out of a rock/stone (petras:

Mithras born from the rock (petra genetrix), Marble, 180-192 AD. From the area of S. Stefano Rotondo, Rome.

πέτρα; cp. Matthew 16:18) that was to be the basis of faith as detailed in decorations and graffitti, including many Roman emperors such as Constantine, believed that the crucified Mithras was their eternal saviour who would transport them to a heavenly realm while having his message sent to all people of all nations by 12 disciples.  The same story is the foundation for what would become the faith of Christians who also believe that their saviour, in most ways identical to Mithras and with the Mithraist religion, had 12 disciples.

Ancient religions used the number 12, believing, as Pythagoras argued, that it was a god-given gift to mortals and had divine properties and a profound mystical meaning.  This was because it is one of the lowest easily divisible numbers, unlike other numbers it has several dividing factors: 6, 4, 3, and 2. Since 12 was the lowest easily divisible number, it was used to prepare calendars and time pieces (clocks) that were used for and with astronomy (star-gazing, star charting, and that ultimately led to astrology—the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs—and the believe in a mystical heaven that was centered between the stars and composed of 12 constellations).

Sumerian Zodiac with inscription "the city of Nippur, honored by them as a central shrine"

The oldest preserved zodiac dates from 3100 – 3000 BCE when the Sumerians in Mesopotamia developed their Zodiac based on the six heavenly bodies (known as “houses” or “star groups”) they could see with the naked eye (astronomy).  These celestial objects are now known as planets.

On tablets the Sumerians wrote of visitors from “beyond the stars” who  had selected certain Sumerian cities as special communities for worship. The symbols on the Zodiac were remembrances of those who came, and used to understand (“foretell”) the future.

While the Sumerians used symbols in their Zodiac, theirs were not the first symbols of religious orientation.  Much of ancient Sumerian theology became the foundation for what would emerge as Hebrew theology.  For example:

“In the beginning everything was ocean – the Apsu – Chaos, whence arose a number of divinities, including Tiamat (the sea) and the gods Anu, Enlil and Enki (Ea), the later representatives of the tripartite world. Now Apsu desired to destroy his offspring, but was killed by Enki, who looked upon the Apsu as his home. Then Tiamat, who went forth to revenge Apsu, was vanquished in conflict with Sumer, Babylon and Assur, respectively. Now before the struggle, Tiamat had created, in place of Apsu, huge monsters in animal form.”

To strengthen the faith, a Zodiac was created with early symbolism and text that includes passages about winged being who came to earth and would return someday from distant planets.  In the Heavenly Ocean were a variety of animal constellations: the “vanished” gods.  By 2600 BCE the Sumerians are writing about a great battle between Sumer, Babylon and Assur: the foundation for what would become Gog and Megog (Hebrew: גּוֹג וּמָגוֹג  that translates as “the four corners/quarters of the earth”; it is the cornerstone for Ezekiel 38-39 that was used as the foundation for Revelation 20; but, in Genesis 10, where Magog is the eponymous ancestor of a people or nation the text is more realistic and most likely written after the battle of the King Gyges of Lydia (687 BCE-652 BCE), although Josephus in separate passages in the “Jewish Antiquities” and “Jewish War” of the 1st century details that Jews of that time identified Gog and Magog with the Scythians, and concluded that Alexander the Great locked these horse-riding barbarians of the far north behind the Caucasus mountains with iron gates (Bietenholz, Peter G. (1994). Historia and fabula: myths and legends in historical thought from antiquity to the modern age. Leiden, Netherlands: E. J. Brill).  It is a myth that has fascinated people from Scandinavia to China, speaks of giant warriors such as Ghengis Khan and contemporary dictators–but it remains an ever-expanding myth that brings out the wildest fears of many self-styled prophets (cp. Derry, T.K (1979). A history of Scandinavia: Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland. St. Paul / Minneapolis, MN, USA: University of Minnesota Press; Marshall, Robert (1993). Storm from the East: from Ghengis Khan to Khubilai Khan. London, UK: BBC Books, and Berkeley, CA, USA: University of California Press; and the thesis/dissertation of Christensen, Arne Søby (2002). Cassiodorus, Jordanes, and the History of the Goths: Studies in a Migration Myth. Published in Copenhagen, Denmark: Museum Tusculanum Press).

Gog and Magog appear in Qur’an sura Al-Kahf (The Cave), 18:83-98, as Yajuj and Majuj (Ya-juj/Ya-jewjand Ma-juj/Ma-jewjor يأجوج و مأجوج, in Arabic), but this is a plagiarism from the “Gates of Alexander” story from the Alexander Romance, a thoroughly embellished compilation of Alexander the Great’s wars and adventures (Omrani Rekavandi, H., Sauer, E., Wilkinson, T. & Nokandeh, J. (2008), The enigma of the red snake: revealing one of the world’s greatest frontier walls, Current World Archaeology, No. 27, February/March 2008, pp. 12-22).  As with the Christian or Hebrew Bible or Torah, very little in the Qur’an is original or true.

Scorpio, Kudurru, Meli-Shipak and Nebuchadnezzar boundary stones 12th century BCE

Heavenly symbolism begins ca 4000 BCE and in Europe we have many megaliths and remains from the fourth millennium BCE.  Some megaliths with symbols can be dated back to 6000 BCE. The asterism (the science of the asterisk or “little star”; see: Walker, Christopher B. F. (1996). Astronomy before the Telescope.  London, UK: British Museum Press. pp. 50-67) Scorpio is the common denominator and symbol for the Ritual Age that extended from Northern Scandinavia and the Atlantic to the Pacific. There are no scorpions in Scandinavia so if we find several images it is surely the asterism; on the other hand there are a couple of rock carvings in the shape of Scorpio.

Canchal Mahona cave symbol (Spain)

At the same time, the eye symbol is used for the moon and has been found in a cave in Canhal Mahona (moon cycle; noting that the original first deity was a goddess: Venus) Spain.  It is also seen in Egyptian roof paintings of the celestial world.

It would not be until the rise of Babylon (and Assyria) that the Zodiac would be transmogrified into 12 signs or symbols, arising in the second millennium BCE with a cult growing up around its astrology.  Astrology became a cult in itself, with official claim that it was one of the two chief means at the disposal of the priests (who were called bare or “inspectors”) for ascertaining the will and intention of the gods (the other being through the inspection of the liver of the sacrificial animal).

Sumerian tablet: ancient aliens and the heavenly war

The Sumerians, however, had the number 12 and did more with the number 12 and astronomy than merely calculate the planets or tell times of planting and harvesting.  The number and its mythology played an intricate role in the Sumerian government, as the government was always composed of twelve people.

Sumerian ideas and technologies were passed to other civilizations: from Egypt to Mesopotamian empires, such as that of Babylon (Iraq).  In ancient Egypt, the number 12 stood for maturity, and girls under the age of 12, and boys under the age of 13, remained naked to testify to their innocence.  12 had no special divine qualities, but the Rhind Mathematical Papyrus and the Moscow Mathematical Papyrus show that the ancient Egyptians could perform the four basic mathematical operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division  (Gardiner, Sir Alan (1957). Egyptian Grammar: Being an Introduction to the Study of Hieroglyphs. Oxford, England: Griffith Institute. p. 197).  These were used ultimately, in praise of the Goddess Isis, a part of history’s original Trinity (Isis-Ra-El that the mercenaries known as Habiru/ Hebrews changed into Israel), and her theology.  From it came the obelisks and various calculated structures (Siliotti, Alberto (1998). The Discovery of Ancient Egypt. Edison, NJ, USA: Book Sales, Inc., p. 8 seq.). The Egyptians also used fractions, computed the volumes of boxes and pyramids, and calculate the surface areas of rectangles, triangles, circles and even spheres using principles underlying the Pythagorean Theorem: Area ≈ [(89)D]2 = (25681)r 2 ≈ 3.16r 2 being the basis for Pythagoras πr 2 (Strouhal, Eugen (1989). Life in Ancient Egypt. Norman, OK, USA: University of Oklahoma Press, p. 241).

Like the Sumerians, the Babylonians, with their numbering system of 60, found the number 12 to be practical and useful for calendars and times—and to explain how their religion influenced the religions throughout the Middle East: from Mesopotamia to Southern Egypt and beyond. The author of Science: a Four Thousand Year History, Patricia Fara, says “the Babylonians split the heavens into twelve equal sections, one for each lunar month and carrying the name of a prominent constellation. Translated into Latin, these now exist as the twelve signs of the zodiac familiar from newspaper horoscopes, such as Aries the Ram and Taurus the Bull” (Fara, Patricia (2009). Science: A Four Thousand Year History. Oxford, UK; New York, NY, USA: Oxford University Press. p. 13). This idea was passed on from culture to culture:

The notion of the zodiac is very ancient, with roots in the early cultures of Mesopotamia. The first 12-signs of the Zodiac were named after the gods of these cultures. The Greeks adopted astrology from the Babylonians, and the Romans, in turn, adopted astrology from the Greeks. These people renamed the signs of the Mesopotamian zodiac in terms of their own mythologies, which is why the familiar zodiac of the contemporary West bears names from Mediterranean mythology.

(Lewis, James R. (2004) in Partridge, Christopher (2004).  Encyclopedia of New Religions (2004 edition). Oxford, UK: Lion Publishing. p. 337.)

Shēngxiào (chinese zodiac)

The same situation occurs in the orient (the Far East). The Chinese zodiac (The Shēngxiào) also had twelve divisions; although they were different to the common ones that Western culture adopted from the Sumerians.  The Chinese used animals to mark the zodiac, not gods.  Some scholars argue that the animals were representations of god, such as the winged-lion in Christianity representing the Apostle Mark.  This Zodiac was used from Korea to Japan and throughout East Asia (the Thais have the most unusual of calendars: “การเปลี่ยนวันใหม่ การนับวัน ทางโหราศาสตร์ไทย การเปลี่ยนปีนักษัตร โหราศาสตร์ ดูดวง ทำนายทายทัก” where the year starts at different times.

Chinese Zodiac (art object)

The Chinese Zodiac reflected time cycles divided into 12 parts, and each is widely associated with a culture of attributing influence of a person’s relationship to the cycle upon their personality and/or events in their life.  None of the animals of the Chinese zodiac are associated with constellations but are linked to agriculture leading to 24 two-week segments known as Solar Terms that were defined by popular mythology by the Jade Emperor who selected twelve animals to represent the generation of matter: planets, people, and so forth.

Ivory Buddhist Tibetan talisman

When China was influenced by Buddhism, the Zodiac and its cycles were affected, in part. As the division of the divine realm into 12 areas was based on the original stellar usefulness of the number, non-godly religions also developed mystical systems that divided existence into 12 parts. Buddhists hold that life is composed of 12 stages, which together keep the wheel of life turning, ensnaring all life in a samsaric (cyclic) form of existence from which it is hard to escape.

The Buddhist teaching on samsaric existence is […] depicted in the Wheel of Becoming. […] The rim of the wheel is divided into twelve segments and scenes. These show how beings pass from one realm to another, and are call the nidanas. […] These scenes depict Buddhist teaching on Dependent Origination: the causal chain which ensures that the Wheel of Samara keeps revolving.

In nearly every theology there have been lesser gods (usually twelve in number) and twelve superior gods. The ancient Zoroastrian holy book, the Menok i Xrat, says that the “twelve Signs of the Zodiac, as the Religion says, are the twelve commanders on the side of light” (Mavromataki (1997) p. 24); the full passage from the actual text reads:

All welfare and adversity that come to man and other creatures come through the Seven and the Twelve.  Twelve signs of the Zodiac, as the Religion says are the twelve commanders on the side of light; and the seven planets are said to be the seven commanders on the side of darkness.  And the seven planets oppress all creation and deliver it over to death and all manner of evil:  for the twelve signs of the Zodiac and the seven planets rule the fate of the world.

It is also found in cuneiform on stones from Assyria, Samaria and Babylon, which read:

The signs on Earth, just as those in heaven, give us signals.  Sky and Earth both produce portents; though appearing separately, they are not separate:  Sky and Earth are related.

This gave antecedent to the horror mythology of John of Patmos, the alleged author of the Christian Apocalypse. Christianity, like Judaism and Islam, is, indeed, deeply endebted to Zoroastrianism.  In Zoroastrianism, long before the advent of any of the other Mesopotamian/Middle Eastern religions even surfaced to attract any attention, the commanders fight against evil in a battle for the fate of the world.

Maria Mavromataki, Maria (1997).  Greek Mythology and Religion, loc. cit.

Some Gods had twelve sons, and some sun gods had 12 disciples to spread the message across the world that the sun wasn’t dead; it was rising again in the sky in spring, after being defeated in autumn.  This ideological theology transcended boarders, nations, and people, for it reached into Scandinavia, Russia, the Americas, and beyond.  As the stars are divided into twelve, it is only natural to presume that communities of Homo sapiens (even Neanderthals) can be divided into twelve geographical locations, and each one administered by a different personification of the Sun.

The Signs of the Zodiac became Leaders.  It was thought their influence over the lives of individual people could be worked out through a mixture of planet-watching and confused mysticism. The legacy that such lunacy left us was a deep-rooted religious tradition that the affairs of mankind are rightfully led by twelve leaders, with the religious literature of each including the notation: “As in heaven, so on Earth.”

A detail from runestone G 181 in the Swedish Museum of National Antiquities in Stockholm. The three men are interpreted as Odin, Thor and Freyr.

Odin (Old Norse Óðinn) was referred to by more than 200 names; see: Gylfaginning XX, and Harrison, Dick & Svensson, Kristina (2007). Vikingaliv. Stockholm, Sweden: Natur och Kultur, 2007. p. 63, in Swedish; cp. Finnur Jónsson (1926-28). Ordbog til de af samfund til udg. af gml. nord. litteratur udgivne rímur samt til de af Dr. O. Jiriczek udgivne bósarimur, pp. 51-51. København: J. Jørgensen & Co., in Danish where there is an unfortunate mixture of Biflindi and Byrlindi), for example, who sat on a chair that overlooked all of creation, has 12 sons, and like the sons of Jacob, Odin’s sons represented mortal nations and places.  The best known children of Odin are Thor , Týr , Freyr , Heimdallr , and Loki (the “trickster” who frequently becomes combative and sometimes is considered a devil).  Other sons include Balder, Sigi, Vali, and Vithar.

God Lugh/Lugus

Odin and his children had one special gift: they could change shapes and turn from mortal bodies into those of animals.  There are parallels between Odin and Celtic Lugus: both are intellectual gods, commanding magic and poetry, yet furious in battle using a spear and carrying ravens. Julius Caesar (de Bello Gallico, 6.17.1) mentions Mercury as the chief god of Celtic religion, and Mercury has 12 sons who spread out across the known world to preach to and teach the people.

Odin (the father) is a part of the Norse Trinity, joined by his son Thor (who is crucified), and son of inspiration—a Holy Ghost—Freyr (Adam of Bremen’s Gesta Hammaburgensis ecclesiae pontificum 26 notes:

In this temple, entirely decked out in gold, the people worship the statues of three gods in such wise that the mightiest of them, Thor, occupies a throne in the middle of the chamber; Wotan and Frikko have places on either side. The significance of these gods is as follows: Thor, they say, presides over the air, which governs the thunder and lightning, the winds and rains, fair weather and crops. The other, Wotan—that is, the Furious—carries on war and imparts to man strength against his enemies. The third is Frikko, who bestows peace and pleasure on mortals. His likeness, too, they fashion with an immense phallus.

12 "sons" (tribes) of Jacob: astrological symbols

Much of this became the foundation for one of the greatest plagiarism in the ancient world: The Torah and the Talmud.  Not only were their twelve tribes named after the twelve sons of Jacob who is considered both a man (Genesis 32:24, 28) and a god (Genesis 32:28, 30), but Israel knew twelve tribes, called after the twelve sons of Jacob, according to mythology (there is no historical record of a Joseph in Egypt), Joseph had two sons: Manasseh and Ephraim who, by command of Jacob (actually one of the ancient gods of Israel [Is{is}-Ra-El]) were regarded as de facto “tribes” of Israel (Genesis 48:5, to preserve the numerological theology of 12; cp. Joshua 14:3-4). The best known of the sons of Jacob are Benjamin whose lineage produced King Saul and also who the Books of Acts of the Apostles introduces as Saul of Tarsus.  The priestly tribe of Levi produced Moses and the first High Priest, the brother of Moses: Aaron.  Judah’s family tree would boast of Kings David and Solomon and other rulers; the New Testament attached Jesus to the House of David even though there is no historical record to substantiate this Biblical figure.

12 sons/tribes of Jacob/Israel

The lineage of Jacob, in the Torah, includes: Reuben (it translates as “see”, and the tale is found in Genesis 29:32), Simeon (it translates as “hearing” and is also the son of Leah as was Reuben, and detailed in Genesis 29:33; he is not blessed by Moses and most likely was unknown), Levi (also a son of Leah, and translates as “joined” or “attached” and is found in Genesis 29:34), Judah (translates as Yah—not Yahweh—but is the name of an ancient Egyptian bull god, and is read at Genesis 29:35), Dan (a word meaning “judge” and the son of Bilhah who was Rachel’s servant, and is at Genesis 30:6), Naphtali (meaning “my wrestling” and invokes combat, with his nativity at Genesis 30:6), Gad (a word that details the Habiru/Hebrew’s origin, as it means “invader” or “troop” as the ancient Hebrews were mercenaries in Egypt working for the Hyksos; it is found at Genesis 39:11),  and he is the son of Leah’s servant Zilpah, whose story is at Genesis 30:11), Asher (which means “happy” was also the son of Zilpah and is recorded at Genesis 30:13),  Issachar (translates as “man for hire” or “wages” and implies prostitution; he is the son of Leah in Genesis 30:18), Zebulun (meaning “dwelling” and is the son of Leah and implies both greed and ownership, as it is recorded that Leah said “…now my husband will dwell with me, because I have borne him six sons”—six being a division of twelve by two sisters as Jacob committed incest by marrying his two first cousins; the story is at Genesis 30:20b), Joseph (translates as “increaser” and was the son of Rachel, but also was a term used for anticipated future pregnancies and thus the enrichment of the land through additional laborers or soldiers; it is found at Genesis 30:24), and, finally: Benjamin (translates a “son of the right hand” born to Rachel as she was dying (in Genesis 35:18, Rachel calls the infant Ben-Oni—“son of sorrow”—but Jacob renamed him Ben-Jamin, to do his bidding).  There is a popular myth of 10 Lost Tribes of Israel, but there is no historical basis for this claim:  Most Hebrews moved before and after the “Babylonian Captivity” and Jews are found in Alexandria, Egypt in the first century CE.

Judaism includes prophecies that are more condemnation, as with Reuben who “defiled” Jacob’s bed: implying incest with the mother or possibly a sister.  Simeon and Levi were known for sadism, and were cursed to be “scattered”. Judah was the most favored to become a king and ultimately to produce a warrior leader (messiah) to go against the enemies of Jacob and his tribes. Dan who was to be a judge over Israel is also called a serpent: “a viper by the path” that will ultimately force a rider to fall backward—and thus is the foundation for the allegory of Saul of Tarsus trip to Damascus.  Naphtali was a flatterer who “uses beautiful words” but could not always be trusted, and most likely has his origin in Loki or Scandinavia. Gad was to be routed in battle, but becomes a king and a judge. Asher loves “dainties” (delicacies of food) and represents the gluttony of a few both in food and possessions: “Let him dip his foot in oil. Your sandals shall be iron and bronze”. Issachar was considered “strong [as a] donkey”, while Zebulun “shall become a haven for ships”.  Joseph was to wear a crown—for which there is no historical evidence, but he would be permanently separated from his brothers.  Benjamin was to become a warrior but shares in the spoils with his tribe. (Genesis 49:1-27, ref. Deuteronomy 33:6-25).

Besides the “sons of Jacob” (females were seldom counted), there were twelve “minor” prophets (the Hebrew Bible, the Nevi’im, or Prophets): referring to the length of each “book”—not to the writer’s importance.  The Minor Prophets are: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi.

There were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, (symbolic of the seventy disciples (Luke 10:1) and other groups of seventy) at Elim (אֵילִם : sExodu ), probably 100 km southeast of Suez.  The breast piece of the high priest was decorated with twelve stones bearing the names of the twelve tribes (Ex-28:21) and the “bronze Sea” in the Temple of Jerusalem stood on twelve bulls (1Kings-7:25), for the bull, seen as a Golden Calf, was the symbol of Yeh (Exodus 32:4-5); Yahweh’s original name was El (Genesis 6:3).

Egyptian god Yah a golden calf (Apis)

These are just a few of the many occasions in which the Old Testament mentions the number twelve.  There were twelve stones of Hoshen (breastplate of judgment or priestly breastplate (Hebrew: hoshen חֹשֶׁן) was a sacred breastplate worn by the High Priest for the Israelites that contained 12 jewels: three in four rows), twelve loaves of show-bread on the shulchan (table) in the Beit Hamikdash: “House of Holy” (בֵּית־הַמִּקְדָּשׁ) or the Temple, and it was the age at which Bat Mitzvah is attained in Orthodox Judaism, and so forth.

Many sun-worshipping religions had their god-man figure gather twelve disciples, one for each division of space. The prime example is Mithras, the half-god half-human saviour of Mithraism, a Roman mystery religion. In keeping with other developed sun-worshipping religions, the saviour (Mithras) is depicted in drawing with an aurora behind his head, representing the sun. Followers were seen as stars.

As the stars are divided into twelve groups, it is natural to presume that communities of mortals can be divided into twelve geographical locations, and each one administered by a different personification of the Sun. The Signs of the Zodiac became Leaders; it was thought their influence over the lives of individual people could be worked out through a mixture of planet-watching and confused mysticism. The legacy that such lunacy left us was a deep-rooted religious tradition that the affairs of mankind are rightfully led by twelve leaders: As in (the heavens) heaven, so on Earth. Odin, for example, who sat on a chair that overlooked all of creation, has 12 sons.

Hávamál (Odin the crucified God)

Odin is one of more than 70 crucified saviours of the world. In Rúnatal, a section of the Hávamál (it translates as “Sayings of the High One” and is similar to the “Sayings of Jesus” presenting advice for living, proper conduct and wisdom and is both practical and metaphysical.  The Gestaþáttr is stanzas 1-80 (stanzas 1-79 comprise a set of maxims for how to handle oneself when a guest and traveling, focusing particularly on manners and other behavioral relationships between hosts and guests and the sacred lore of reciprocity and hospitality to the Norse worshippers of “the True God Odin”) and is a collection of proverbs and gnomic wisdom: sententious maxims put into verse to aid the memory that is considered divine opinions (it is best understood in the manner of Greek gnomes, belonging to the family of wisdom literature). Odin sacrifices to himself, being hung from the world tree (verdenstreet and världen träd) Yggdrasil for nine days and nights.  At this point Odin’s name is Hangatýr (meaning “the God who is hanged”; cf. Patton, Kimberley Christine (2009). “Myself to Myself: The Norse Odin and Divine Autosacrifice” in Religion of the Gods: Ritual, Paradox, and Reflexivity. Oxford, UK & New York, NY, USA: Oxford University Press). Odin, the Father God, is pierced by his own spear (cp. John 19:34), in order to learn the wisdom that would give him power in the nine worlds. The worship of Odin, in the Norse form is particularly acknowledged in Ásatrú, the “faith in the Æsir”, an officially recognized religion in Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Spain.

Mithras had twelve apostles, celebrated feasts with twelve loaves of bread and twelve cups of wine that he proclaimed symbolized his body and blood.  Christian apologists, such as J. P. Arendzen, attempt to portray Mithras as being but an offshoot of Hindu theology, or M. J. Vermaseren, who argued that it comes as a “late[r] date for the expansion of Mithraism to the west” affirming that Mithraism borrowed from Christianity (M. J. Vermaseren (1963). Mithras, The Secret God. London, UK: Chatto & Windus, p. 76).  The absurdities in the apologists’ claims are abundant and the result of their desire to disprove Mithras and the theology it inspired:

The few texts that do refer to the cult come not from Mithraic devotees themselves, but rather from outsiders such as early Church fathers, who mentioned Mithraism in order to attack it, and Platonic philosophers, who attempted to find support in Mithraic symbolism for their own philosophical ideas [emphasis mine].

The majority tried to claim the deity to be of Sanskrit extraction (मित्रा) found in the Rig Veda (3, Hymn 59) but this reasoning is contrived and strained.  (Ulansey, David (1991). The Origins of the Mithraic Mysteries. Oxford, UK & New York, NY, USA: Oxford University Press; it is digested in Biblical Archaeology Review under the title “Solving the Mithraic Mysteries” vol. 20.5 [September/October 1994] pp. 40-53; discussed here).

The destruction of Mithraic literature and theology was calculated and executed by the emerging community (εκκλσία: ecclesia that originally meant “assembly” as in a debating society, but became the word for a “church” militant”: ecclesia militans, ecclesia penitens, ecclesia triumphans in preparation for battle against an Anti-Christ who was seen in the followers of Mithras, later Roman emperors from Nero to Constantine, and all “foreign” religions, based on Matthew 10:34) of Chrestianos, who were determined to erase any heritage of the past or any item that countered their god Jesus—a reminder that is poignantly portrayed in Umberto Eco’s The Name of the Rose. What exists, lives on in graffiti in the worship centers and in fragments of art (Francis, E.D. (1971). Hinnells, John R. ed. “Mithraic graffiti from Dura-Europos,” in Mithraic Studies, vol. 2. Manchester, UK: Manchester University Press. pp. 424–445).  Mithraic temples were neither isolated nor few.  These subterranean worship centers that numbered in the thousands have been found throughout the Roman Empire: from England in the north and west to Palestine in the south and east. Iconography in the Mithraea, such as that at Dura Europos wall paintings depict prophets carrying scrolls (Hinnells, John R., editor (1971). Mithraic Studies, vol. 2. The iconography of Mithraism: the so-called tauroctony or “bull-slaying scene” in which the god of the cult, Mithras (Greek Μίθρας; the Persian is Mithra—an early example of the Greek form of the name is in a 4th century BCE work by Xenophon, the Cyropaedia (7.5.53), which is a biography of the Persian king Cyrus the Great; in Porphyry’s Greek text De Abstinentia (Περὶ ἀποχῆς ἐμψύχων II.56 and IV.16 for Pallas, and De antro nympharum 6 (for Euboulus and his history), there is a reference to the now-lost histories of the Mithraic mysteries, the wording of which suggests that these authors treated the name “Mithras” as an indeclinable foreign word), accompanied by a dog, a snake, a raven, and a scorpion, is shown in the act of killing a bull.  Other iconic scenes of Mithras show him being born from a rock (Commodian, Instructiones 1.13), slaughtering a bull, having a banquet (Plutarch, Pompeii 24-25) and sharing a banquet with the god Sol (the Sun).

Sol and Mithras in a fresco from the Middle Mithraeum at Dura Europos, Syria ca 210 CE

Contrary to early “Christians” who tried to prove their god superior and antedating Mithras, we have written evidence to the contrary.  As Marvin Meyer argues that “early Christianity … in general, resembles Mithraism in a number of respects—enough to make Christian apologists scramble to invent creative theological explanations to account for the similarities” (Meyer, Marvin (2006). “The Mithras Liturgy”, in A.J. Levine, A. J.; Allison, Jr. Dale C.; and Crossan, John Dominic. The Historical Jesus in Context. Princeton, NJ, USA: Princeton University Press. p. 179).  The Romans themselves regarded the mysteries as having Persian or Zoroastrian sources, a view sometimes argued by modern-era scholars. The historian Plutarch says (46 – 127 CE) that in 67 BCE a large band of pirates based in Cilicia (a province on the southeastern coast of Asia Minor) were practicing “secret rites” of Mithras. Initiates called themselves syndexioi, those “united by the handshake”.  Walter Burket noted: “Taking the right hand is the old Iranian form of a promise of allegiance,…” (Burkert, Walter (1987). Ancient mystery cults. Cambridge, MA, USA: Harvard University Press. pp. 16-17). Later, in Judaism and Paulinity (the Christian church), this allegiance was sealed with a kiss (osculum pacis), that is still practiced in different religions and groups.

An army of divine men and the secret army of Mithras (fresco from the catacomb of Priscilla)

The earliest physical remains of the religion of Mithras date from around the end of the first century CE.  While the majority of the faithful came from the ranks of the military (primarily soldiers) who came from all nations under Roman jurisdiction (even worshipping gods associated with Mithras), the

religion’s membership included significant numbers of bureaucrats and merchants, as well as laborers and “occasional men”: in short, from all walks of life (Clauss, Manfred (1990). “Die sieben Grade des Mithras-Kultes”. Zeitschrift für Papyrologie und Epigraphik [ZPE] 82: 183–194); only women were excluded.

Mummy funerary inscription of the priest of Mithras: Ornouphios, son of Artemis, lived 14 years, Choiak 15, The 3rd year

This accelerated Mithraism‘s revival in the fourth century CE—although it was short-lived given the power being accumulated by the Christian Church (Griffith, Alison. “Mithraism in the private and public lives of 4th-c. senators in Rome”. Electronic Journal of Mithraic Studies [EJMS]).  That Mithraism was a part of far older periods can be seen in the mummy funerary inscription of the prieset of Mithras (MS in Greek on linen cloth, Egypt, late 1st c. BCE, 1 cloth (complete), 14×39 cm, single column, (9×21 cm), 6 lines in Greek half-uncial. Provenance: 1. H.P. Kraus, New York). There are more than 677 papyri, mainly originating in Middle Egypt, including Oxyrhynchus and Fayum, that are in the collection of the renowned papyrologist Prof. Atiyah. We find confirmation in Porphyry (Πορφύριος, ca 234-305 CE, who was best known for his notable and scholarly  De Philosophia ex oraculis [Philosophy from Oracles] (Read: De Philosophia ex oraculis haurienda librorum reliquiae. Wolf, Gustaff, ed. Berlini [Berlin, Germany] 1856: in Greek; a Latin version is available) and Adversus Christianos [Against the Christians] in which he wrote: “The Gods have proclaimed Christ to have been most pious, but the Christians are a confused and vicious sect.” Read: Porphyry, Contra los Cristianos: Recopilación de Fragmentos, Traducción, Introducción y Notas E. A. Ramos Jurado, J. Ritoré Ponce, A. Carmona Vázquez, I. Rodríguez Moreno, J. Ortolá Salas, J. M. Zamora Calvo. Cádiz: Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Cádiz 2006), De antro nympharum 6 [On the Cave of the Nymphs 6 in On the cave of the nymphs in the thirteenth book of the Odyssey, translation by Thomas Taylor. London: [n.p.], 1895; a Greek edition was reissued by [Buffalo, NY, USA] Arethusa [Dept. of Classics, State University of New York at Buffalo] 1969), and in numerous shards (a few that I possess in my private library), and fragments of graffiti.  Prophyry was among the earliest to declare that parts of the Bible, especially the Book of Daniel, were fraudulent, being the work of a writer in the time of Antiochus Epiphanes (2nd century BCE). St. Jerome details this discovery (Gelasius, Historia Ecclesiastica III.23).

Muslims of Spain as they depicted themselves

Prophyry’s attack on Christianity caused many faithful to rethink their conversion.  This led Constantine to order the work’s repression.  However, copies survived, being hidden by those who trusted the writer–much in the same manner as Muslims protected the writings of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and other pagans, and spirited them to the Caliphate while Christian bishops and priests were hunting both the Muslims and the pagan writings in order to destroy them. The major error, however, made by those defending Mithras was in claiming the faith came from an ancient Iranian text—there is no Iranian text, iconography, or other evidence for this assumption.  All that is known by direct evidence is that the worship service and theology was Roman in origin and is older than the legends of the New Testament.

What gives Mithraism scriptural importance is its use of the Zodiac and the use of constellations: Taurus the bull being sacrificed, supported by the images of other astronomical symbols: Canis Minor (the dog), Hydra (the snake), Corvus (the raven), Scorpio (the scorpion), and so forth—all being the elements of a star map.  The “bull-slayer”—the figure of a male killing the bull—is an allegory of the Father slaying his son that does come from the Hindu idea that is personified in Brahama, who is fashioned into Abraham (the final “a” is moved from the back to the front) who was ordered to slay Isaac, as “Theos” (θεός that is both plural and singular and the name of many gods) god of the New Testament.

While the concept of god is monotheistic in Christianity, it has not always been that way in other related faiths.  In fact, in Judaism “god” has 72 Divine Names. Islam has 99 Names for God, and the Hindu scripture Mahabharata contains a thousand names of Vishnu.  In every case the god(s) was/were determined to slay his son (cp. John 3:16).

Sacrifice of Isaac by Orazio Riminaldi

All of these “religious sacrifices” were made under the constellations. This required that the saviour god(s) died at night—with a “cross” (Justin Martyr: crux, original text has σταυρός: pole) being made of wood: the spear that killed the bull (son) in Mithraism, the stake on which Jesus was sacrificed, the wood on which Isaac was to be burned after being stabbed, and so forth.

Boninsegna: Jesus Last Supper with the 12 Apostles

From Mithraism came the story of Jesus and ultimately the New Testament. Christianity arose out of Judaism, and from Judaism and its predecessor theologies it inherited the reverence of the number 12. Jesus had 12 disciples. Early Gnostic Christians accepted this as a symbolic and figurative account, but later Pauline Christians took it all literally.

Jesus surrounds himself with 12 disciples [Barnabas was called Zeus, and Paul, in the Bible, is styled Hermes; Acts 14.12 my addition]. This is usually taken to be symbolic of the 12 tribes of Israel. This notion of 12 tribes, however, is itself a symbolic reference to the 12 signs of the zodiac in Babylonian astrology, which the Jews adopted whilst in exile in Babylon. The zodiac was an extremely important symbol in the Pagan world. Osiris-Dionysis is symbolically represented as the still spiritual center of the turning wheel of change represented by the 12 signs. […] [In] the Mysteries of Mithras 12 disciples surrounded the godman, just as the 12 disciples surrounded Jesus. The Mithraic disciples were dressed up to represent the 12 signs of the zodiac and circled the initiate, who represented Mithras himself.

Freke, Timothy & Gandy, Peter (1999). The Jesus Mysteries; Was the Original Jesus a Pagan God?  London, UK: Thomas (2000 paperback edition). [Book Review by Vexen Crabtree], p. 51.

Other religious scholars such as “Robertson, Niemojewski, Volney and others” also hold that “as son-god Jesus had twelve apostles representing the twelve houses of the zodiac” (Reynolds, Alfred (1993; originally published 1988).  Jesus versus Christianity.  London, UK: Cambridge International Publishers. p. 77-78).   The number 12 goes beyond the legendary apostles.  Revelation gives a description of the heavenly Jerusalem:  a city laid out like a square with twelve gates and twelve angels.  There are name plates on each of the gates, one for each of the names of the twelve tribes of Jerusalem, build on twelve foundations and with on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. It is clear that the writer wants to indicate that God’s new chosen people will be the followers of Jesus—no longer is heaven reserved for the Jews.  It is not clear why the heavenly Jerusalem required gates–to keep whom out? Nor is it stated why there would be houses, and angels acting as guards.  This reflects Babylonian theology, and does not take into consideration the laws of gravity.

The writer, whom tradition and redaction has styled as John Patmos, expresses his appreciation for the number twelve: “He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. He measured its wall and it was 144 cubits thick, by man’s measurement, which the angel was using” (verse 17). The writer raises the number twelve to the square in order to elevate it above ordinary human dimensions but still an angel was required to use mortal measurements.

The number 12 appears in numerous other “miracles” that the Jesus of the New Testament performed. “And a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years and could not be healed by any one, came up behind him (Jesus), and touched the fringe of his garment; and immediately her flow of blood ceased” (Luke 8:43).

5 loaves and 2 fish

The number also plays a role in the tale of Jesus feeding “the multitude” with five small barley loaves and two small fish supplied by a boy (in the original it is 5000 men; cf. Mark 8:9, 6:40 NIV, the emphasis is on smallness that becomes greatness; cp. Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:31-44, Luke 9:10-17 and John 6:5-15).  When the men had eaten, the remaining food was gathered up into twelve baskets—an imagery found in most mystery religions. The story is repeated as the “Feeding of the 4000” with seven loaves and an unknown quantity of “fishes” [sic] in Mark 8:1-9 and Matthew 15:32-39.

Mary Magdalene’s name is mentioned twelve times in the New Testament: Matthew 27:56 and 61, 28:1; Mark 15:40 and 47, 16:1; Luke 8:2, 24:10, John 19:25, 20:1 and 8.

Ariadne with stars over her head (Tintoretto)

The mythology in the Book of Revelation has “a woman clothed with the sun,

St. Mary with stars above her head and the moon at her feet

with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars” (12:1); this is among the most pagan additions to Patmos’ publication as it comes from Ovid’s Ariadne (Αριάδνη) whose heroine is given a constellation of stars (the Corona Borealis) and became immortal when assumed into heaven, having sat on the lap of the God Dionysius while drinking wine that represented the God’s sacred blood and by imbibing the fluid she became the God’s bride after hanging herself on a tree (crucifixion); she was the mother of numerous deities: Oenopion, the personification of wine, Staphylus (related to grapes), Thoas, Peparethus, Phanus, Eurymedon, Ceramus, Maron, Euanthes, Latramys and Tauropolis and an “unnamed” twelfth (Euanthes, Latramys and Tauropolis are only mentioned in scholia on Apollonius Rhodius, Argonautica, 3. 997, read also Hesiod (ca 750 – 650), Θεογονία (Theogonia) 949 (showing Eastern influences such as the Hittite Song of Kumarbi and the Babylonian Enuma Elis that entered Greek culture by Greek trade with Mesopotamia that became highly popular in the 8th-7th centuries BCE); Ovid, full name Publius Ovidius Naso (20 March 43 BCE – CE 17/18) Metamorphoses (the Latin word comes from the Greek μετά meta and μορφή morphē, meaning “changes of shape”) l. c. ; Gaius Julius Hyginus (ca. 64 BCE – CE 17) Poeticon astronomicon opus utilissimum  ii. 5, while his Latin is acceptable, his Greek is saturated with elementary mistakes, but Hyginus does establish Ariadne theology and the use of stars denoting holiness and even divinity—almost always with women, setting the stage for tales of the assumption of virgins into heaven), setting the stage for the Twelve Gates, Twelve Pillars and other illusions illustrated by Patmos in his Apocalypse.

Theseus and Ariadne at the Door to the Labyrinth

Homer suggests that the goddess eloped with Theseus after he slew the Minotaur in Odyssey XI, 321-325, but this cannot be verified because of the paucity of records, for that which exists claim that Dionysius demanded the Goddess for his wife, and Theseus abandoned her: Diodorus Siculus iv. 61, v. 51; Pausanias, i. 20. § 2, ix. 40. § 2, x. 29. § 2; the abandonment, however, was rejected by Paeon of Amathus as cited by Plutarch in his vita of Theseus, cf. 20.3-5 that has Theseus’ ship swept off-course in a store, leading Theseus putting his suffering and pregnant Ariadne on land, then attempting to save his ship—but failing and being swept out to sea).  The stars are a symbol of the constellations and as were painted on the lining of the robe of Mithras, will circle the head of the “Blessed Virgin Mary” and numerous saints in various religions, and tie these pictorializations to theologies as late as 800 BCE within the Greek world, and far older in the North and West.

Revelation also contains a Tree of Life.  It is abundant “with its twelve kinds of fruit yielding its fruit every month” (22:2).

The Tree of Life is found in every religion that has ever existed.  It is not unique to the Jews or to Revelation.  In Hindu theology, the Tree of Life is the human body (koshas) and its fruit the reproductive elements (this indicates that what was the “sin” of mortals was oral sex) that, if allowed to germinate and grow brings new generations and thus “eternal life” (cf. 135th hymn of the 10th book of Rig-Veda, and in the 15th chapter of Bhagavad-gita(1–4). banyan is

believed to have nourished mortals with its “milk” before the advent of grain and other food. In Urartu around 13th to 6th century BCE, the Tree of Life was a religious symbol that had servants (some winged) standing on either side of the Tree of Life with one of their hands up as if they are taking care of it or petitioning God of Urartu for abundance and protection.  In ancient Egypt it was the same, although sometimes considered the tomb/coffin of Osiris, and at other times the penis of Osiris.

Tomb of Osiris (antecedent for the Ark of the Covenant)

In the Osiris Legend, Osiris was induced by his wicked brother Set to lie down in a magnificent coffer under the pretext of a game at a banquet. Set and his seventy-two (cp. Luke 10:1) conspirators immediately closed the lid and threw the coffer into the Nile.  This led his sister/wife, Isis, to search the globe for it so she could impregnate herself to give birth to a divine child (Horus) and complete the Egyptian Trinity.  Sacred and divine knowledge is associated with the Tree (phallus or coffin) as sacred lotus lilies that by the fourteenth century CE were known as fleur de lis, used by the French kings.

After Judaism and Christianity, Islam became another Abrahamic religion to accept the traditional division of the land into 12 areas (See sura 2:60 of the Qur’an).  “And [remember] when Musa [Moses] asked for water for his people, We said: ‘Strike the stone with your stick.’ Then gushed forth therefrom twelve springs. Each [group of] people knew its own place for water.  “Eat and drink of that which Allah has provided and do not act corruptly, making mischief on the earth.” (Qur’an sura 2.60)

In all religions where there is a discipleship of twelve, those who oversaw in the past and today in the Mormon faith send out missionaries in groups of two, who were/are called Apostles who were and are considered guides to perfection.  They have always been viewed as holy people (singularly and when together in conclave or consortium).  The Apostles are depicted with a bright solar light around their heads (frequently oval, but in the case of some early Christian saints, the halos were square).  This depiction has been universally recognized as a symbol of being either the son of a god/goddess or sons of gods/goddesses (directly: when both parents are deities; indirectly: when one of the parents is a mortal).  Many of these Apostles are accompanied by their brothers and/or sisters (for example, in Christianity the brothers by later redactions were Simon “Peter” and Andrew (Mark 1:16), while Zebedee is given parentage of James and John, (Mark 1:19; the word, used as a name only in Mark 15:40 and Matthew 27:56, means “the gift of god”).  Legend has it that Zebedee was the husband of Salome.

Adolf von Harnack

Scholars since the nineteenth century (at the latest) began to accept the fact that there is no historical proof that there was ever an Apostle, with Adolf von Harnack, a German theologian, criticizing the Act of the Apostles as being historically inaccurate (Harnack, Adolf von (1909). The Acts of the Apostles. New York, NY, USA: G. P. Putnam’s Sons ; London, UK: Williams & Norgate.  In the first century no record keeper or historian, not even Josephus (Yosef ben Matityahu, Hebrew יוסף בן מתתיהו, ca. 37-100 CE), recognizes the existence of any Apostle of the New Testament Jesus, except for “James the Just” who is styled as the “brother of Jesus”, and only briefly mentions Jesus—but the reference in his Testimonium Flavianum found in the Antiquities of the Jews 18.63-64 has been contested by reputable scholars since the seventeenth century with the majority arguing that it is a later addition and even fraud since the words and phrases correspond with standard Christian formulae and were added by a Christian copyist (much like university students who copy and paste together essays) in an effort to create evidence of a real Jesus (cp. Meier, J. P. (1990), “Jesus in Josephus: A Modest Proposal,” Catholic Biblical Quarterly 52, pp. 76-103; Wells, George Albert (1971). The Jesus of the Early Christians. London, UK: Pemberton Books, p. 190; Brandon, S.G.F. (editor). Religion in Ancient History: Studies in Ideas, Men and Events. London, UK: George Allen & Unwin Ltd., p. 309; and, old, but not outdated: Whiston, William (1826), The Works of Flavius Josephus, the learned and authentic Jewish historian and celebrated warrior, vol. 4, London, UK: T. & J. Allman, pp. 380-385).  “Jesus who was the Christ” has been universally rejected as meaning Jesus (Wise, Isaac Mayer (1868). The Origin of Christianity, and a commentary to the Acts of the Apostles. Cincinnati, OH, USA: Bloch & Co., p. 137; Remsburg, John (1909) The Christ: a Critical Review and Analysis of the Evidences of His Existence. New York, NY, USA: The Truth Seeker Company; Wells, George Albert (1986). Did Jesus Exist? London, UK: Pemberton Publishing Co., p.11, with Arthur Drews in The Witnesses to the Historicity of Jesus, stating: “In the edition of Origen published by the Benedictines it is said that there was no mention of Jesus at all in Josephus before the time of Eusebius [about 300 CE, Ecclesiastical History, 1.11).  Moreover, in the sixteenth century Vossius had a manuscript of the text of Josephus in which there was not a word about Jesus” (Drews, Arthur (1912)  The Witnesses to the Historicity of Jesus. Chicago, IL, USA: Open Court Publishing Co.; London: UK: Watts).  Claudia Setzer summarized the debate over the authenticity and historicity of Josephus succinctly:

British scholarship has been relatively positive about Acts’ historicity, from Lightfoot and Ramsay to W.L. Knox and Bruce. German scholarship has, for the most part, evaluated negatively the historical worth of Acts, from Baur and his school to Dibelius, Conzelmann, and Haenchen. North American scholars show a range of opinion. Mattill and Gasque align with the British approach to Acts. Cadbury and Lake take a moderate line and to some degree sidestep the question of accurate historicity.

(Setzer, Claudia (1994). Jewish responses to early Christians: history and polemics, 30-150 C.E. Minneapolis, MN, USA: Fortress Press, p. 94.)

The situation is no different in Islam.  The lineage of the Prophet Muhammad were his relatives and descendants.  His familial successors spoke as if they were infallible popes, on faith and morals.  People listened to them as if they were gods, and from this rose the ayatollahs who claimed that they acted for the god of Muhammad.

Islam, nothing more than a discount version of a combination of Judaism and Christianity, mixed with Greek fables and Bedouin ontology developed one group of faith known as Muslim Shi’ahs.  These followers created a list of 12 ruling Imams or Ithna-‘ashariyyah branch of Shī‘ah Islam following Muhammad.

The Investiture of Ali, at Ghadir Khumm (Edinburgh codex: MS Arab 161, fol. 162r, CE 1309 or 8 Ilkhanid manuscript illustration)

It is believed by Twelver Shi’a Muslims that the Twelve Imams were foretold in the Hadith of the Twelve Successors and each of the Muslim Apostles (who originally were thought to be the twelve sons of Ishmael, the first-born son of Abraham: Genesis 25:13-16, cp. 25:17-20; ref. Sahih Bukhari 89:329), sequentially, is seen as the successor of Muhammad who is an infallible human individual who not only rules over the community with justice, as he is considered free from error and sin, and is chosen by divine decree, or nass, through the Prophet, being foretold by the Prophet he is able to keep and interpret the Divine Law and its esoteric meaning (Nasr, Seyyed Hossein (1979). Ideals and Realities of Islam. London, UK: Unwin Paperbacks. p. 10; and, Momen, Moojan (1985).  An Introduction to Shi`i Islam: The History and Doctrines of Twelve. New Haven, CT, USA: Yale University Press. p.174).

The Imam has the same stature and command as the Pope of Roman Catholic Church, the Prophet of the LDS Mormons, and the Patriarchs in the Greek Orthodox religion.  The first successor to Muhammad, was Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (Arabic: علي بن أﺑﻲ طالب) who was the cousin and son-in-law of Muhammad, and ruled the Caliphate from 656-661 CE, having been the first male convert to the new religion (his reign was marked by caravan raids from Mecca, civil wars, and his assassination in the mosque of Kufa).

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Bradlee Dean of You Can Run But You Cannot Hide: the voice of Christian hatred

Islam’s history, with the Number 12, has not been glorious nor peaceful, and Islam has devolved into a religion of violence, mind and body control, and hated—matching that of what is contemporary Christianity (for example, the messages of hate bleated by Bradlee Dean (Smith) in Minnesota (a self-confessed drug addict), Dakota Ary in Texas, James Dobson in Colorado, and other would-be demigods).  In the case of Islam, the first eleven Imams were murdered—even though they were heralded as being divinely ordained to preach the gospel of the Qur’an/Koran.  And as it was with the medieval Roman Catholic church that ordained children and even sold bishoprics and the rank of cardinal to small children (as was the case especially under Pope Julius II, to pay for his wars that he rode into, covered with human beloved so he could “preach the gospel of love”).

12 Imam (Apostles) of Islam following death of Muhammad 632 CE

Islam, as with all religions, had its mad prophets:

  • from the illiterate camel driver who married a 6 (or 7, the age is not precisely known) girl (on the age of A’isha, consult: Spellberg, D. A. (1994).  Politics, Gender, and the Islamic Past: the Legacy of A’isha bint Abi Bakr.  New York, NY, USA: Columbia University Press, 1994, p. 40; and, Armstrong, Karen (1992). Muhammad: A Biography of the Prophet.  San Francisco, CA, USA: Harper, p. 157),
  • to Ali (the cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad) who was slashed with a poisoned sword while praying in the mosque of Kufa in 661 CE;
  • Hasan who succeeded his father and was poisoned by his fourth wife (Ju’da) in 669,
  • he was followed by his brother Husayn—who was beheaded in the Battle of Karbala—in 680;
  • he was succeeded by Zayn al Abidin (great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad) who survived the Battle of Karbala because he was too sick to fight but was murdered by poison in 712;
  • Muhammad al-Baqir the son of the previous Imam, took over the caliphate and although it is claimed “he was respected by all”, he was murdered by poisoning in 743;
  • Ja’far al-Sadiq who is best known for expanding Shari’a law to greater barbarity was murdered by poisoning in 765, was next;
  • Musa al-Kazim was next in line and died similarly in 799,
  • he was followed by an eight-year-old Muhammad al-Taqi who was poisoned by his wife in 835, a fate that awaited his successor:
  • Hasan al-Askari, who died of poisoning in 874, and, finally, the
  • twelfth profit, Muhammed Mahdi, son of Hasan al-Askari, went into hiding as a young child, and Shi’a Muslims still believe that he is alive and they are waiting for his return in Apocalyptic glory or gore in a Final Battle.

It has always been common in Islam to bestow Imamships on young children.  It is the belief that the Prophet loved young children so much that he married several, including the now famous Aisha bint Abu Bakr (612 – 678) (Arabic: عائشة‎) who has the unique distinction of achieving near divine status as the “Mother of the Believers” (أمّ المؤمنين in Qur’an/Koran 33.6; cp. Abbott, Nabia (1942). Aishah: the Beloved of Muhammad. Chicago, IL, USA: University of Chicago Press, 1942), and thereby gained for them eternal life following the resurrection of the body (يوم القيامة‎) before being judged (a break with pre-Islamic Arab thought) and sent to either be with Muhammad and the other Prophets (the Islamic heaven (جنّة‎ : paradise) is described in Qur’an/Koran 13:3518:3138:49–54, 35:33–3552:17–27 where everything anyone longs for in this life on earth will be found in paradise that is composed of seven levels, and the faithful obtain a level based upon their good deeds (the highest level has angels building palaces of solid gold for the chosen/most blessed, and everyone wears costly apparel, dines on exquisite banquets of all possible approved foods, and reclines on couches inlaid with gold or precious stones, while rejoicing in the company of their parents, wives, and children), or cast into a fiery hell (كفر‎‎).

Hell in Islam

Hell was similar to that conjured by Christian prophets and priests. The Islamic hell is also divided into several levels where punishment is done according to the level of evil done in life, and while most of hell is fire (fueled by burning idols (rocks and stones) and human beings who were, in life, nonbelievers.  The hell known as Zamhareer is the coldest and most freezing of all and has regular blizzards, ice, snow, and cold that is unbearable—similar to Dante’s Inferno—and houses hypocrites (the most diabolical of sinners), two-faced people who claim to believe in Allah and his Prophet but denounce both in their hearts.

Mohammed’s Call to Prophecy and the First Revelation; leaf from a copy of the Majmac al-tawarikhTimurid. From Herat, Afghanistan. In The Metropolitan Museum of Art, ca. 1425 CE

Islam has a special regard for the stars and nature, it is within the realm of Islam  belief  that all things are of divine origin and that Allah is the author of the world and the sky in which there are various homes for the faithful to enjoy worldly delights.  The number 12, since it was twelve years after Muhammad began to preach and with his converts performed the Hijra (“emigration”) to the city of Medina (formerly known as Yathrib) in 622, and converted everyone by the sword.  Unlike other religions, Islam does not have a Zodiac as its calendar is not based on the sun but the moon (which prior to Muhammad represented the goddess of love: Venus) with the invention of a new calendar in 622 CE known as the year 1 AH (التقويم الهجري : Hijra calendar, or anno Hegirae); it is a lunar calendar with days lasting from sunset to sunset.  Islamic holy days fall on fixed dates of the lunar calendar, which means that they occur in different seasons in different years in the Gregorian calendar. Islam dates its history from the First Day: (1 Muharram 1 AH) or Friday, 16 July 622 CE.

Theseus and the Minotaur

More enlightened religions and theosophies also had Apostles but these were exclusively used as symbols of the zodiac that represented time.  This was the case with the advanced theologies of the Gnostics understood things had natural origins and were in quest of truth, and were like the twelve disciples of Mithras who understood the symbols of the Zodiac and the number 12 to be symbolic of the stages of the waning and waxing sun throughout the year and thus the bull (slavery) who was sacrificed is the mark of harvesting and the beginning of repose (death) before renewal (being reborn) in spring.  Later religions took it literally and believed in an actual 12 disciples.  Some religions still do believe that there were 12 actual disciples who spread the message of their god(s)/goddess(es) and rely on disproven theories and numerology, especially glorifying the number 12 and its divisible numbers (6 is numerological common number in Islam, for example).

Suicide, from the Latin suicidium, from sui caedere, “to kill oneself”, is the act of intentionally causing one’s own death; in most cases it applies to mortal beings (humans), although there are reported cases of animals deliberately starving themselves to death because a benefactor/owner died, moved away, or abandoned the animal, or because its mate ceased living or left.  In all cases, it is an external reaction to an internal perceived loss; however, today, with more suicides taking place each year, it is far closer to murder with death being the result of aggravated pain brought about by another person who casts aspersions or speaks negatively or argumentatively with someone who does not follow the norm of a society or given situation.

Over one million people die by suicide every year, and more than twenty million people each year attempt suicide, especially in religious communities and states/nations where a fundamentalist faith is in power politically and theologically, as seen in the suicide of Bryan Egnew, a 40-year old gay

Bryan Egnew and Family (On Facebook, Egnew wrote of the photo, “Pic of family on vacation in Florida. Laissez rouler les bons temps!“)

Mormon man who had a wife and five children, lost his family, his place in his church, and ultimately his life by suicide, after being excommunicated by a religion that had no program to help people understand the LGBT community but condemned it on the weakest evidence possible: claiming it was not intended to exist by god.

As a friend of Egnew wrote: “Bryan found that courage and came out to his family and his church. The results were tragic. According to Curran, his wife Amy immediately packed up their children and drove them out-of-state to Tennessee, refusing to let Bryan see them. His parents and family withdrew, and his Church immediately excommunicated him because he refused to denounce his sexual orientation”.  His wife, Amy, his parents and children are all guilty of his suicide, for the put stress upon his life so that he could not reason sanely.  Amy and her children, and the parents of Egnew passed a death sentence on Bryan.  Bryan was made to feel like garbage, and in despair took out the garbage–his own life for he had given up all hope–and got rid of it.  According to Sigmund Freud, this was “Todestrieb”, a psychological drive towards death, self-destruction and the return to the inorganic where physical and mental pain were unknown.  This became popularly known as a “death drive” (or “death wish”) that frequently led to suicide, as the death drive opposes Eros: the tendency toward survival, propagation, sex, and other creative, life-producing drives of pleasure and fulfillment.  Suicide appears, according to Freud, as an urge in organic life to restore an earlier state of things.  Those who take their lives are trying to restore or return to a time thee was no pain. (Sigmund Freud (1987 edition). “Beyond the Pleasure Principle” in On Metapsychology: the theory of psychoanalysis : Beyond the pleasure principle, the ego and the id and other works  Middlesex, Harmondsworth, UK: Penguin, p. 308).

Freedom go to hell (Islam 2011)

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that suicide is the thirteenth-leading cause of death worldwide.  The National Safety Council rates it sixth in the United States.  Suicides have increased 60% over the past 50 years.  Now the rate is rising rapidly, especially in areas controlled politically and theologically by evangelical extremists of any religion.  Today’s radical evangelical Christians, such as C. Peter Wagner and Texas Governor Rick Perry,

Westboro Baptist Church protesting near Islamic Center of America on Ford Road

are as rabid and hatefilled as any ayatollah in Iran or other Muslim dominated nation, where human rights mean nothing, and civil rights are cursed in the name of following the rigid laws of a god who was never author, but whose words, it is alleged, were either memorized or written down by a scribe or prophet so that individual lives can be controlled by a few for their personal enrichment.  This has always led to suicides–in all religions and all nations especially where religion is strong.

There has been a rapid rise in suicides in the USA recently, especially in areas where evangelical Christianity has a stranglehold and children of fundamentalist families attend public schools where there are a variety of

Asher Brown (age 13)

lifestyles that do not conform to their preconceptions.

Asher Orrin Michael Brown, March 1, 1997 – September 23, 2010, of Houston, Texas, shot himself in the head after kicked down a flight of stairs, his books kicked and scattered across the ground, while other students watched. When Asher attempted to gather himself up, he was kicked down another flight of stairs “because he had a lisp, was a Buddhist and ostensibly gay”.  Bullying is a leading cause of death among teenagers and adults under 35.  It is seen as an apocalyptic forerunner of an epidemic of suicides in Michele Bachmann (R-MN)’s 6th congressional district: Minnesota’s largest district.  When questioned about the current holocaust the presidential candidate remained stealthily silent as Bachmann has always found it difficult to talk about homosexuality, and at times even use the word–a word that did not appear in any English lexicon before 1892, and then only in the English translation of Krafft-Ebing’s Psychopathia sexualis, which was a reference work, in German, on sexual perversions (Krafft-Ebing, R. [Richard] von (1891).  Psychopathia sexualis : mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der conträren Sexualempfindung : eine klinisch-forensische Studie; 6. verm. und  theilweise umgearb. Aufl. Stuttgart, Germany: Ferdinand Enke; reissued as: R. von Krafft-Ebing (1893). Psychopathia sexualis : with especial reference to contrary sexual instinct : a medico-legal study; authorized translation of the seventh enlarged and revised German edition by Charles Gilbert Chaddock.  Philadelphia, PA, USA: F.A. Davis). The work first appeared in 1886 and was enormously popular, being reprinted about once a year, with the sixth edition in German and seventh in English most frequently cited.  Kraftt-Ebing noted in his introduction that he had “deliberately chosen a scientific term for the name of the book, to discourage lay readers” fearing that lay readers would misread what was written and offer bizarre interpretations–his prophecy has been realized.  As an Austrian man of the nineteenth century and living in a Roman Catholic culture, Richard von Krafft-Ebing believed that procreation was the purpose of sexual desire.  He argued that any form of recreational sexual intercourse was a perversion of the sex drive, and perceived women as sexually passive, and thus recorded no sexual case studies of sadistic or fetishistic women.  Many problems known today have come from this work, and especially from the word “homosexual” (it originally was “sexual inversion”) that was coined by [Henry] Havelock Ellis–who lived to regret creating the word (it is not an original Greek word); read: Ellis, [Henry]Havelock and John Addington Symonds (1897) Sexual inversion : a critical edition; edited by Ivan Crozier. Houndmills, Basingstoke, Hamphire, UK and New York, NY, USA: Palgrave Macmillan, 2008; the first edition was known simply as Sexual Inversion and was published in Philadelphia, PA, USA: F.A.Davis Co. [c1901].

Michele Bachmann (AP Jim Mone)

In July 2009, Michele Bachmann’s Congressional district–which has a policy requiring school employees to be “neutral” about homosexuality in front of students–settled with a student for $25,000 who said two teachers had harassed him for being gay by  tag-teaming an 18-year-old boy with relentless anti-gay taunts and jokes.  By all medical and psychological / psychiatric definitions this was bullying, and shows a mental malaise on the part of the teachers as well as with the students who tolerated their unprofessional conduct (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, (March 2011), No. 80, notes that “boys tend to use physical intimidation or threats, regardless of the gender of their victims.  Bullying by girls is more often verbal, usually with another girl as the target”; available online).  As the American Psychological Association notes, bullying stems from fear and apathy in any workplace culture of submissiveness, especially in schools where teachers try to be friends with the students, rather than display authority by being subject matter experts who do not tolerate lackadaisical  students or poor work performance.

Teachers become bullies when they want to appear as “part of the group”–lessening their status as teachers and endangering the student of any age.  Verbal or physical aggression is used by the bully to achieve a superior standing, and if the victim fails, withdraws, or commits suicide, the bully considers that he or she has won and prove his or her superiority.

Life means nothing to the bully, unless the bully is personally attacked.  At that time the bully cries foul and blames others for his or her misfortune and attempts to justify his or her bullying as demonstrating his allegiance to a higher power (usually a god or religion, but also to a senior military or political figure).  Evangelical and Apocalyptic Christians (such as the New Apostolic Reformation) justify violence in the name of peace, and harken to Matthew 10:34, where Jesus, it is written, said he came to the Planet Earth to bring a sword–not peace (matching radical Islam and their quest for a holy war: جهاد‎  appearing 41 times in the Qur’an and should be interpreted not as a war or struggle, but as “striving in the way of God”.  It has become a war was primarily considered to be against unbelievers identical to the intolerance of Christians who reject those who live lives different from them).  This has been the common modus operandi for many of the teachers in the Anoka-Hennepin school system in Minneapolis, where there are significant numbers of teachers and students who are members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod that highlights bigotry (such as referring to the Pope as the Anti-Christ, demeaning the role of women by quoting from the Letters of Paul that a woman must submit herself to her husband’s rule, and so forth), and staunch Republican supporters.  They fear the rise of labor and the Middle Class at their expense, and since many are Lutherans, they are taught Martin Luther’s message concerning a rebellious workforce: Wider die räuberischen  und  mörderischen Rotten der Bauern–a social conflict that conservative Minnesotans see as injurious to their economic stability even though to thwart labor brings down the state’s productivity and prosperity.  Using this popular fear Michele Bachmann has been able to be repeatedly returned to the US House of Representatives.

Bachmann’s scapegoat is the LGBT movement.  It gives her ammunition to rifle in votes, and at the same it feeds into her husband’s cannibalistic “practice” of reparative psychology; the community of the Sixth District is to tightly controlled by religion that both continue without being challenged:  Marcus is not a licensed psychologist by the State of Minnesota, but recognized as a counselor who offers a “cure” to homosexuality so that homosexuals can “return” to the “real world” and be accepted.  As the American Psychological Association notes, reparative psychology has caused more psychological problems that have led many to suicide.  Marcus Bachmann could never be a member of the American Psychological Association, as he has broken every rule established by the group, has gone against every researched and tested method endorsed by the APA, and has brought a deep tarnish to the association and its members.  Marcus Bachmann is not just a fraud, but a man deeply troubled without a clue as to what psychology is about.  At the same time his backward thinking and the practice of his colleagues at the “Bachmann Clinic” that receives federal funds, causes more damage to those who are disturbed than produces any positive results in ending personal fears or desires for suicide.  It is the insensibility, craven greed of the Bachmanns who led the charge over a decade ago against basic human rights and freedoms, especially the right to be one’s self, that has led nine students in the Sixth Congressional District at the Anoka-Hennepin schools to end their lives in the last two years.  Michele and Marcus Bachmann are guilty of fostering hate, of silently encouraging violence and bullying, while Michele has spoken out repeatedly against any legislation that would outlaw or criminalize bullying. Michele Bachmann should stand trial for her part in the suicides of the young in her district and throughout the USA.

Samantha Johnson (MN)

Samantha Johnson (MN)

Four of the nine students who died by suicide in Michele Bachmann’s Congressional district were believed to have faced harassment stemming either from a gay sexual orientation or from the perception among pers that they might have been gay, including seventh-grade student Samantha Johnson who entered Fred Moore Middle School (now Anoka Middle School for the Arts).  Students at the girl’s school harassed her on the assumption that she was a lesbian. They also mocked Samantha for her weight. When Samantha made an extra effort one day to dress more like other girls in her class, her mother says the harassment only worsened.  In November, Samantha’s mother, Michele Johnson, returned home and found her daughter dead in the bathtub. Samantha had put a hunting rifle in her mouth and shot herself.

Haylee Fentress

In April 2011, Haylee Fentress and Paige Moravetz

Paige Moravetz

carried out a suicide pact because they said they were being bullied by religious groups in their school.  Both girls complained about the bullies; the teachers only laughed, the principal did not act.

Being the best of friends, who even had gone so far as to hyphenated both of their last names, hanged themselves in a carefully planned suicide pact–to end the ever-increasing religious intolerance of their classmates who claimed to be speaking for god and threatening the girls that they were going to “hell”–a place no one ever had seen but heard about it by their pastors pounding hate-stained pulpits and tables.  Gehenna would have been better, as at least it is today a garden–unlike the wasteland of their school that had become an open-pit of bitterness for both.

In May 2011, 14-year-old Jordan Yenor killed himself.  He had grown weary of the students slander, the licentiousness of their libels, and their faux-Christian righteousness. He was the latest suicide in the Anoka-Hennepin district that

Jordan Yenor

Michele Bachmann represents and has worked with her husband to “pray away the gay” and prevent any protection for LGBTs.

Yenor committed suicide as the result of his not being able to handle more bullying by religious fundamentalists.  On his Facebook page, his “friends” and classmates accused him of being gay.  What Yenor did not receive from any counselor or teacher was an affirmation that it is okay to be gay–that being gay is genetic and what counts is the production of the individual, or as Abram Maslow wrote: being self-actualized in his paper “A Theory of Human Motivation”.  Yenor never had the opportunity of time to discover himself and realize that he was a good person regardless of his sexual orientation and interest, as homosexuality has always been a part of the world in which we all live.

Being gay is neither sinful nor wrong.  Being gay is a lifestyle that a person is born into.  Any LGBT person has as much value as any heterosexual–and as much right to excel, exceed, and experience the full pleasure that comes with living.

No one choses to be gay.  No person elects to put himself or herself out in front of intolerant theological thugs who tread on individual liberties. This is more in keeping with theocracies, such as Iran, where there are no Constitutional protections, where all people must believe in the same deity, practice identical dietary rules, and contribute to the charities detailed in the only holy book that those in charge of society claim exists.

Christian terrorists are everywhere.  Christian terrorists range from Timothy McVey who bombed the federal building in Oklahoma City, to mass murderer Ander Breivik (born 13 February 1979) in Norway who was opposed to multiculturalism, was pro-Israel/far-right Zionist and strongly anti-Muslim; today they flourish in the USA behind the masques of the New Apostolic Reformation, the Tea Party and its undisguised racism, the reemerging Ku Klux Klan (now growing strong in Iowa, having started in Davenport, Sioux City, Waterloo, Ottumwa and Des Moines, and other northern states), and are responsible for as many deaths as the merchants of hate do in Islam where there is no pity, no mercy, no kindness–only a submission to a vicious god that equals the tyranny of the deity that builds fortresses between people in Minnesota and throughout the world as flock-stealing becomes acceptable with one denomination sending ministers and missionaries into the lands that already have established religions: thus Lutherans and Mormons enter Peru, Scientologists invade France and Germany, and Islam spreads out over the African and Asian continents–each like a giant fungus determined to sweep opposition away from its talons.  What they all have in common is hatred for LGBT people, pass laws (usually backed up and supported by some spurious scripture) to deny LGBT people basic human and civil rights, and legislate draconian denunciations that demand the death penalty for LGBT people from Uganda and Liberia to Nigeria and beyond–with Bradlee Dean, a former cocaine addict, in Minnesota applauding the Muslims who execute LGBT people in the Arab and non-Arab world and the law sponsored and written by USA evangelical Republican Christians.

The use of Facebook is one of the most common forms of devastating cyberbullying.  Cyberbullying, instead of happening face-to-face, happens through the use of technology such as computers, cell phones and other electronic devices.  There are numerous cases now being reported of where cyberbullying–especially by young girls who are jealous of other girls, use cyberspace to demean, ridicule, and humiliate perceived rivals and cast blame on others for something that they did themselves.  This has led to an increase in suicides in more affluent areas.

Cyberbullying peaks around the end of middle school and the beginning of high school. Research on cyberbullying has found that students involved are more likely to those who are target of cyberbullying being unwilling to attend school, most frequently receive poor grades, have lower self-esteem, and have more health problems.  Cyberbullying can have particular effects on those who are targeted: especially if the victim is perceived as fat or obese, ugly, wears jewelry that is considered taboo within a certain area (such as piercing lips, chins, and so forth), seek or have a same-sex partner/attraction, and go to small or mainline tolerant churches.  In Minnesota, many of the students found to be engaged in cyberbullying go to the more radical evangelical churches and hate-groups like the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod churches where people are attacked for being Roman Catholic, homosexual, or not a part of fanatical fundamentalism. Research has found that young people who have been cyberbullied are significantly more likely to use and alcohol and drugs (especially marijuana and Methamphetamine: a central nervous system stimulant drug that is similar in structure to amphetamine, and increases alertness, concentration, energy, and in high doses, may induce euphoria, enhance self-esteem–especially in the case where a person is bullied or feels unwanted or unneeded–and increase libido; it is highly addictive), skip school or are late to classes, and experience in-person bullying or victimization.

From a psychological perspective, people do not choose to use drugs to the point that their personal relationships are ruined, they go broke, or are imprisoned.  People who do use recreational drugs, do so because they are convinced that they know when to stop or that they cannot become addicted to the drug of choice. This is incorrect; people do misuse drugs, and because of their addictive behavior, especially when it creates the illusion of comfort, popularity, and acceptance, are used repeatedly.  When the illusion is broken, either because the person using the drugs cannot afford additional supplies, or because it takes increasingly greater use and quantity that cannot be paid for, the individual becomes despondent, and in many cases will attempt suicide.  However, suicides because of drugs make up only a small percentage of all self-inflicted deaths; the greatest number come from a will to die because of an incurable and disabling illness or because of bullying.

In July the National Center For Lesbian Rights and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) filed a lawsuit against the Anoka-Hennepin school district on behalf of five current and former students who say they were harassed due to their sexual orientation. Teachers and the principal were named as conspirators against LGBT students and listed as defendants.  The U.S. Department of Education considers gay bullying to be a civil rights issue and have earned the scorn and contempt of Michele Bachmann who has vowed to shut down the Department of Education if she is elected President of the USA in 2012, detailing her revulsion to any compromise with “minions of Satan” who promote homosexuality, speaking in Iowa with Pastor Jeff Mullen of Point of Grace Church in Waukee where the confession of the congregation is on the (1) infallible Bible that is without error, (2) salvation is only through Jesus, and (3) faith alone gives salvation: it is a part of the radical New Apostolic Reformation that believes Jesus will ride out of the sky on a horse, carrying a sword, and personally killing all those who do not belief he alone is triumphant.

Jeff Mullen cult leader of Point of Grace church

Considered by many to be a closeted homosexual, Jeff Mullen “took a much more active role in the anti-retention campaign, setting up a website dedicated almost exclusively to getting rid of the ‘seven rogue justices’ and asked ‘pastors to register voters on the Sundays.’ Mississippi’s American Family Association, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated an anti-gay hate group, supported his efforts.”  His cult retains its IRS tax-exempt status–at least for the moment, but it is under investigation as he used his church for political purposes that attacks Jefferson’s wall separating state and church.

Both the 7th and the 9th Circuit Courts of Appeal have ruled that schools must take steps to protect students from known anti-gay harassment. In the suit filed,  the SPLC alleges that the anti-gay policy violates the Equal Protection Clause, Title IX, and the Minnesota Human Rights Act.  Last week a companion suit was filed on behalf of a lesbian student who attended Jackson Middle School in Champlin. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports:

The newer suit alleges that the middle school student was called “faggot” and “dyke,” among other slurs, and even was punched in the stomach once. When she reported the harassment to teachers and administrators, the suit says, they did nothing to protect her. The earlier suit alleges that students endured slurs, getting stabbed with pencils, pushed into walls, shoved into lockers, and even being urinated on by classmates because of real or perceived sexual orientation. It claims that district and school officials’ response to such harassment was “grossly inadequate,” and that administrators told the students in some cases to “lay low,” “ignore” the harassment, and “stay out of people’s way.” District officials have countered that they have anti-bullying policies in place that address such issues.

The school may have policies against bullying, but those are undermined by another rule that states:

“Anoka-Hennepin staff, in the course of their professional duties, shall remain neutral on matters regarding sexual orientation including but not limited to student led discussions.”

The school district has a policy on the books known colloquially as “no homo promo,”  pushed by the Bachmanns.  The suits aim is to have the policy repealed, on grounds that it stigmatized homosexual students and promotes harassment since the teachers are told not to respond to any hate-crime speech or belittling anyone based on sexual orientation.

Lance Lundsten

Lance Lundsten, a Jefferson High School student, was

Thomas "TJ" Hayes

openly gay on his Facebook page.  Facing constant bullying, Lance took an overdose and later died in hospital in March, 2009.  The cause of Lundsten’s suicide also was the cause of the suicide of Thomas John ‘TJ’ Hayes,  in 2009: bullying from religious extremists and taunts that each would “go to hell” because of their “evil lifestyle”–claiming, incorrectly, that the Bible condemns homosexuality.

Aaron Jurek

Aaron Jurek, a student at Blaine High School, became so depressed–a depression that was never diagnosed, that in November 2009, he also committed suicide in Bachmann’s district–rehearsing her hate speech that LBGTs deserve no attention or protection, but must be considered sick and sinful.  Michele Bachmann’s constant repetition of the word of homosexual and the sin of homosexuality continues to cost lives in the Minnesota LGBT community, further polarized by the uneducated self-styled pastor of hate Bradlee Dean [Smith], the lead drummer in the Heavy Metal band “Junkyard Prophets.”  Dean [Smith] are directly responsible for the suicides for the public proclamations of hate (Dean created a hate-filled organization called “You Can Run but You Can’t Hide, that Tim Pawlenty and other Republicans in Minnesota have endorsed as a “god-send” to rid Minnesota of LGBT people) and are accessories who should be charged with contributing to the death of minors.

Michele Bachmann (L) and Bradlee Dean (R). He is a Minnesota radio host, anti-gay activist, and drummer

Bachmann refuses to speak about the suicides.  Dean claims it is his god’s punishment, and applauds the Iranian government that executes gays and lesbians as young as age 4.  His “preaching” ultimately inspired the Minnesota State Legislature to invite him to offer the prayer for its opening session–a time he used to belittle Obama (suggesting that the President is not a Christian) and lamenting that Christians were  being discriminated again.  He used his presence in the legislature to raise funds for his organized hate group YCRBYCH.

Bradlee Dean Smith opening the Minnesota Legislature with a prayer 2011

The word “homosexual” does not even appear in the lexicon of languages until 1892.  Today it appears in poorly translated editions of the Bible that did not translate from the original scrolls.

Health officials in Minnesota recognize that Michele Bachmann’s Anoka-Hennepin school system is in a region that is a “suicide contagion” area due to the high number of suicides and suicide attempts. Advocates say gay teens make up a large percentage of that group. Disturbingly, it seems they aren’t just being targeted by their idiotic classmates. According to Reuters, a 2009 study found that 84% of LGBT students in Minnesota had been subjected to bullying.

Michele Bachmann 2011

Bachmann covertly endorsed the rash of gay suicides, telling   an audience in 2004 that “gay” is a Satanic misnomer when applied to men who love men and women who love women, dredging up the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod’s stand on Satan (which also equates the Pope as the Anti-Christ, based on the dementia of Martin Luther in the sixteenth century).  As a state lawmaker, Bachmann worked against protections for LGBT youths in the state’s schools.  Bachmann dismissed the possibility that LGBTs might actually be happy if left alone, telling her listeners that gays lead “unhappy” lives, and seeming to mean that unhappiness stems from being gay, rather than being punished for it.Experts on the issue note that Minnesota has one of the weakest antibullying laws among U.S. states), and now on the rise in Massachusetts (especially with the scandalous case of 15-year-old Phoebe Prince who had recently

immigrated from Ireland, and was bullied daily with slurs and insults, physical assaults and worse–even after she died by hanging herself, with Christians leaving taunting messages on her Facebook page, celebrating her suicide, that had to be removed at her family’s request), New York (where 14-year-old

bullying“), Minnesota (Justin Aaberg, a gay 15-year-old from Champlain,  hanged himself after being bullied by a student religious group whose members told Justin that he was going to hell because he was gay; he was one of the nine suicides in Michele Bachmann’s district in 2010, where the presidential candidate for the Republican nomination and her husband, Marcus, push “reparative” therapy that has been condemned by every medical and registered psychological group in the USA and abroad), Texas (where a 9-year-old

boy, Montana Denton Lance at Stewart Creek Elementary School North Dallas, hung himself in the boy’s bathroom after being repeatedly bullied by evangelical extremists in his school), and other states.  More pre-teenagers (the majority are female) die from suicide than from any other disease including cancer.  According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 11-year-old

Jaheem Herrera (age 11)

Jaheem Herrera, a fifth-grader at Dunaire  Elementary School in DeKalb, Georgia  hung himself inside his home, after being called “gay” and a “snitch”.   One week before his twelfth birthday,

Carl Walker-Hoover

Carl Walker-Hoover, in Georgia, committed suicide in April after months of being tormented with anti-gay slurs.  Sean McDonald was only 11 when he hung himself on May 26, 1999, suffering from mood-swings that few troubled themselves to understand.

There are also older teens who kill themselves because of Christian bullying, as was the case with Tyler Clementi — an 18-year-old student at Rutgers University — jumped to his death from the George Washington bridge after a sexual encounter he had with another man was allegedly streamed online by his roommate at Rutgers University students — Dharun Ravi, Tyler’s roommate, and Molly Wei — who placed a camera in Tyler’s dormitory room and streamed the images onto the internet on Sept. 19.  Tyler was a gifted and award-winning violinist, who played with the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra and participated in the Bergen Youth Orchestra as concertmaster and considered to be one of the finest new/youngest talents in the USA.

On April 20, Ravi received a 15-count indictment, including a charge of the hate crime of bias intimidation, for his alleged actions that led to Tyler’s death, and for trying to cover up it up afterward. Weeks later, Wei struck a plea deal to avoid jail time on the condition she testifies against Ravi.

Suicide rates in USA (highest in evangelical states)

Children as young as five will kill themselves if taunted by a bully screaming that the child will go to “hell”. The bullies, such as Dakota Ary, a Texas anti-gay Christian high school freshman, received a two-day detention after announcing in his German class that “homosexuality is wrong” and claims his “religious beliefs” allow him to make anti-gay comments in class, are the actual murderers.  Bullies, cyberbullies, and “students”, such as Dakota Ary, a youth who is guilty of using hateful words, are supported and defended regularly

Dakota Ary, 14, of Fort Worth, Texas claims his religions gives him a right to initiate hate crimes

by virulently anti-gay Liberty Counsel— loosely affiliated with Jerry Falwell and his Liberty “University”.  What Ary forgets, conveniently, is that freedom of speech is limited. Free speech cannot cause the loss of life.  The US Supreme Court ruled that no one is entitled to express oneself if that expression endangers the life of another (Schenck v. United Statesin 1919; in this case, Justice Holmes wrote of falsely shouting fire, because, of course, if there were a fire in a crowded theater, one may rightly indeed shout “Fire!”; one may, depending on the law in operation, even be obliged to. Falsely shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater, i.e. shouting “Fire!” when one believes there to be no fire in order to cause panic, was interpreted not to be protected by the First Amendment).  All people, however, can express any opinion no matter how odious as long as it does not threat life or create noticeable harm; suicides take life and cause harm to the family.

Fox “News” regularly sides with the bullies and even has on its staff a “psychiatrist” who argues that homosexuality is a choice in direct opposition to every stand taken and publications authored by licensed and recognized psychologists and psychiatrists by the American Psychiatric Association and American Psychological Association: Keith Russell Ablow (born November 23, 1961) and is not a member of either organization but who still audaciously

Keith Ablow on Fox News

claims to be an authority in the field of psychiatry, and has private practices in Massachusetts and New York–but he is not a member of the American Psychiatric Association (Ablow, openly argues in favor of discrimination, especially against LGBT people; see:  “Discrimination Won’t Be Tolerated, Says APA President” Psychiatric News Update. September 14, 2011). While a medical student, he worked as a reporter for Newsweek and a freelancer for the Washington Post and Baltimore Sun as his interest lies in journalism, making his career in television and writing and not staying current with psychiatric research.  His publications in the areas of depression, anxiety disorders and substance abuse disorders have never passed peer review and only have been “published” on FoxNews.com.

While the rapid increase in suicides is true (or at least more noticeable) in larger communities where numerous LGBT people have committed suicide because of ridicule, ostracization, or physical assaults by those who feel that there is only one acceptable lifestyle: heterosexuality, it also exists in smaller,

Seth Walsh (age 13)

rural (as with Seth Walsh, age 13 at Tehachapi, Calif.) or isolated communities where education is marginal and knowledge of the genetic nature of sexual selection and preference is unknown or ridiculed.

The idea that homosexuality is a perversion or unnatural is patently untrue, and is not accepted by any legitimate organization, such as the American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Medical Association (with all other professional psychological associations in the USA, Europe, and where competently taught subjects on mental orders and disorders: “opposes, the use of “reparative” or “conversion” therapy that is based upon the assumption that homosexuality per se is a mental disorder or based upon the a priori assumption that the patient should change his/her homosexual orientation” as wrongfully practiced by Marcus Bachmann, Keith Ablow, and other pseudopsychologists/psuedopsychiatrists; redefined more vigorously on July 12, 2011: H-65.992, 983, 990, B-1.50, 6.524, etc.), American Counseling Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, and others. Homosexuality has always been and is

(2) normal (it is a recurring experience/ event, especially in preteen and teenage years, with hotlines established by the medical communities to help troubled teens, especially those contemplating suicide) despite that the most ignorant and uneducated legislators complain that it is abnormal and against the will of their particular deities, as with Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and her husband Marcus who claims to be a psychologists but bought his degree over

Oklahoma state Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City

the internet, Oklahoma Republican state legislator Sally Kern whose statements have led many into attempting suicide (she claims that she “bashes gays for Jesus”) and was publicly rebuked by the Oklahoma House of Representatives for negative comments she made against women and minorities; Kern implicitly blamed gay marriage and President Barack Obama’s official acknowledgment of Gay and Lesbian Pride Month (among other things) for the economic crisis, when predicting that the USA would only survive another twenty years.  Kern said nothing about the rising number of LGBT

Zach Harrington (age 19)

suicides in Oklahoma, such as that of Zach Harrington, a 19-year-old, talented musician who endured years of struggles due to his sexual orientation in high school in conservative Norman, Oklahoma, and attended a three-hour public hearing on a proposal to declare October gay history month in the city.  He internalized all the hate he heard, according to his sister, from people his parents’ age who screamed about a loving Jesus who would come with vengeance against Oklahoma for considering such a motion.

Bob Vander Plaats (Iowa 2011)

Kern is the southern version of  the Midwestern mindset of  Bob Vander Plaats (a self-style evangelist who was a one-time/part-time coach and high school principal, with no theological or medical education) of Iowa claims it is addictive “like smoking” and “bullying is normal” even if it leads to suicide among those under 12 or in their teenage years–and was rebukedeven by the leadership of his own Republican Party for whom he campaigned to be governor of Iowa.  Vander Plaats and his wife have nothing but criticism of the LGBT community, but show nothing, not even a weak impression of what they claim to be Christianity in their statements and actions.  As it was reported (and a video made) of Vander Plaats this March listening to a man’s voice: “You know what my wife says?” After a brief pause, the off-camera man answers: “Iowa: Where you can’t smoke a fag but you can marry one.”  This form of hate-filled speech will have two results: encourage homophobic zealots to kill LGBT people, and increase the number of LGBT suicides in Iowa.  Slapping his thigh, Vander Plaats exploded in laughter, chortling “Good! That’s a good one!”

Vander Plaats exemplifies and personifies everything said about a backward thinking and operating Midwestern hayseed.

(3) good (it brings pleasure and self-fulfillment to the individual and the participant), and it was considered “good and pleasing to god” from the dating of Sumerian religions and others back to 15,000 BCE; even the early christian communities recognized homosexuality as being good as it was “created by our Lord” and for that reason married people of the same-gender (cf. http://www.enkiea.org/; neither Rome nor Greece rejected it (homosexual marriages were not outlawed until 324 CE, as recorded in the Theodosian Code (C. Th. 9.7.3); cp. Eskridge, William N. (October 1993). “A History of Same-Sex Marriage”. Virginia Law Review 79 (7): “While the statute [that prohibited same-sex marriage in ancient Rome] reinforces the impression that same-sex marriages were not uncommon in the Roman Empire, it also evidences an anxiety about same-sex unions that antedated the 4th century. At the end of the 2nd century, for example, Plutarch’s Moralia included a dialogue filled with invective both for and against same-sex relationships, suggesting that their propriety was a matter of some controversy. A subsequent anonymous dialogue entitled Affairs of the Heart was sympathetic to same-sex relationships but sharply distinguished them from marriage”.

Jesus said nothing about homosexuality (neither about heterosexual nor homosexual marriage).  The only “condemnation” came from Saul of Tarsus years after Jesus died, and then the passage refers to the changing of understanding by ignoring what is and hopes to mentally change the individual within the mind.  Homosexuality is not condemned until the thirteenth century, and then by Thomas Aquinas as a crime against nature because of a gross mistranslation of Genesis 19 (where the crime actually is Lot’s incest with his daughters) and because of the unavailability or ignored explanation in Ezekiel 16:49.

Jesus riding out of the clouds for war

During the early middle ages, homosexuality became a scapegoat sin that explained how everything from natural disasters to military losses could befall ostensibly Christian cities, and with it came the transmogrification of the nightmares of John Patmos and the evolution of a physical war by a physical Jesus riding a white horse into battle with a sword (cp. Matthew 10:34 and my articles on the Apocalypse here and here).  Read:  Crompton, Louis (2003). Homosexuality and Civilization. Cambridge, MA, USA : Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, 623 p).  Most biblical literalists want to read the Apocalypse as if it were prophecy, which it is not.  It is the writings of a depressed, pressured old man living on an island imprisoned by the Roman government, and it is a tale about events of the day: not a prediction of what might happen tomorrow.  No one at the time of the writing ascribed to John Patmos knew the law of gravity, or would have know it would be impossible to ride a horse from the sky to the earth.  No one at that time knew of automatic weapons, but still relied on a sword.  Each of the plagues and signs are easily explained, for those who will take time to research and study science.

(4) it has the added benefit of it being nature’s perfect form of birth control in an already overpopulated world consuming rapidly dwindling natural resources.

Jerry Buell

Those who are primarily responsible for the suicides are self-appointed “ambassadors of Christ” who, like Jerry Buell, feel that their faith compels them to speak out against homosexuality and sin.  The social studies teacher at Mount Dora High School (Lake County, Florida) does not mince words when it comes to his religion.  Like other hate-mongers urging LGBTs to commit suicide, Buell argues:  “I’m exercizing my rights, First Amendment rights, guaranteed in the Constitution, supported by the state of Florida — on Facebook”.  No matter how odious and obnoxious Buell is in his messages of hate, with the current US Supreme Court, he is right–and he is enabled to damage as many lives as there are those who will not think for themselves but listen to his rants based on fiction. What psychologists know is that when something has been a repeatedly tested and proven fact impressionable youth, like older people, will do what they are told if they see the speaker either as an authority figure or as someone who could do them harm: a demon/god, a career decider and potential employer or recommenders, and so forth.  The students he does not destroy he will be instrumental in convincing them that their only option is suicide.

Depression, one of the most commonly diagnosed psychiatric disorders is being diagnosed in increasing numbers in various segments of the population worldwide, and is often a precipitating factor in suicide (Torzsa P, Szeifert L, Dunai K, Kalabay L, Novák M (September 2009). “A depresszió  diagnosztikája  és kezelése a családorvosi gyakorlatban”. Orvosi Hetilap 150 (36): 1684–93). Depression in the United States alone affects 17.6 million Americans each year or 1 in 6 people (Lambert K.G. (2006). “Rising rates of depression in today’s society: Consideration of the roles of effort-based rewards and enhanced resilience in day-to-day functioning”. Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews 30(4): 497–510) especially acute in students (American Psychological Association (August 12, 2010), “College Students Exhibiting More Severe Mental Illness, Study Finds,” on-line).  This depression is frequently the result of humiliation, peer pressure and ridicule, and the taunting of teachers such as Buell and those in Minnesota, while others, especially in Texas, do not want to be (or feel intimidated) involved with a student’s personal problems.  These are the actions of other people leading the victim to take his or her life.  The bullies are playing the role of Socrates’ judge in ancient Athens, while the victims become martyrs to the will of the vocal minority by committing suicide (Plato. Apology, 24–27 and at the end of Phaedo; however, there is a counter-argument to Plato in Waterfield, Robin (2009). Why Socrates Died: Dispelling the Myths. New York: W.W.Norton and Company, with Waterfield suggesting that it was a ceremonial cleansing to rid Athens of its guilt and by offering a token rooster of appreciation for Asclepius Socrates’ death would represent a cure for the ailments of Athens).

Is the Rapture coming?

Rapture in a field, etched by Jan Luyken for the Bowyer Bible

The word “rapture” does not appear anywhere in either the Old or New Testament of the Judaeo-Christian bible  Rather, it is a misinterpretation of 1 Thessalonians 4:17, that has been badly translated/mistranslated over the centuries: “…and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which [sic] are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord”.  While I have argued that Saul/Paul of Tarsus never existed, and that the bible is nothing less than a cut-and-paste case of bad plagiarism, this is especially true with the “rapture” evangelicals read into one more of the letters allegedly authored by a man from Tarsus.  The source for 1 Thessalonians 4:17 (επειτα ημεις οι ζωντες οι περιλειπομενοι αμα συν αυτοις αρπαγησομεθα εν νεφελαις εις απαντησιν του κυριου εις αερα και ουτως παντοτε συν κυριω εσομεθα ) is from the Gospel of Matthew 24:29–31 (ευθεως δε μετα την θλιψιν των ημερων εκεινων ο ηλιος σκοτισθησεται και η σεληνη ου δωσει το φεγγος αυτης και οι αστερες πεσουνται απο του ουρανου και αι δυναμεις των ουρανων σαλευθησονται και τοτε φανησεται το σημειον του υιου του ανθρωπου εν τω ουρανω και τοτε κοψονται πασαι αι φυλαι της γης και οψονται τον υιον του ανθρωπου ερχομενον επι των νεφελων του ουρανου μετα δυναμεως και δοξης πολλης και αποστελει τους αγγελους αυτου μετα σαλπιγγος φωνης μεγαλης και επισυναξουσιν τους εκλεκτους αυτου εκ των τεσσαρων ανεμων απ ακρων ουρανων εως ακρων αυτων), and is considered to be equal the day that the Jesus of the bible, as believed by chrestianos (not by christianos) will return in full armor, wielding a sword of destruction and death to end a battle staged at Armageddon, though possibly fought at the Valley of Jehoshaphat.

Tombs in the Valley of Jehoshaphat

The ancient chrestianos saw the Jesus of the New Testament not as a meek and mild world savior, but as a great and wrathful general who would slaughter all dissenters and reward those who stayed true to him, were willing to die for him, and looked forward to a battle of gruesome proportions (Matthew 10:34-36).  Armageddon is a Mountain (Hebrew: הַר מְגִדּוֹ‎, Har Megiddo; Ancient Greek: Ἁρμαγεδών Harmagedōn, Arabic هرمجدون, Persian آرماگدن, Late Latin: Armagedōn) where ancient mythology claims that god (for Christians: Jesus) will fight the Final Battle with Satan (Hebrew:  הַשָׂטָן ha-Satan), “the accuser”–a celestial prosecutor who was numbered among the Sons of God (Job 2:1) and carried out the enforcement of his spiritual Father’s orders.

Satan (a noun preceded by the definite article “ha” (the; cp. 1 Chronicles 21:1, Job 1-2; and Zechariah 3:1) and is joined to the beloved son (Ha-Satan): Numbers 22:22, 1 Samuel 29:4, Psalms 109:6) was never the “Fallen Angel” (that becomes the Devil, and although evangelicals use the term interchangeably, they were never identical) but a member of the Divine Council advising the father god.  The evil that befalls Job is not the fault of  The Satan–but rather the transgression and crime of the ancient agricultural god Yahweh; Yahweh says to The Satan, ‘You have incited me against him, to destroy him for no reason.’ (Job 2:3).  The Satan is blameless, the fault is that of the head of the council: Yahweh who had a reputation of being wrathful, unjust, quick to anger, and prone to violence, and maintained his leadership, like ancient potentates, by his assassinations, constant warfare, and siege of cities and communities, sparing no one, not even the infants, young, pregnant women, or the elderly as he wrecked havoc upon the planet that far superior deities (elohim) created (Genesis 1-2; elohim is a plural noun and the most common reference in the Old Testament).  Much of the merging of The Satan with the Devil and the exoneration of the vile Yahweh comes with the incorporation of old Babylonian myths, especially the Testament (Book) of Daniel: Daniel XII. 4:9 (cp. Assumption of Moses I. 16:17; The Assumption of Moses is a Jewish apocryphal pseudepigraphical work that is dubious at best, as it is known from a single sixth-century incomplete manuscript in Latin that was

discovered by Antonio Ceriani in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan in the mid-nineteenth century and published by him in 186 (chapter 7 discusses the End of Days); the handwriting and word choice does not match any of the texts from antiquities and it should be discarded, in much the same manner as the various eighth and ninth century CE copies of the works of Tacitus, since none of the originals exist today that can be compared fully–but then there is next to nothing–only fragments–of the bible that date back somewhat near the first two centuries, with the oldest being mere fragments of the Gospel of John written in the late second to third centuries CE–Matthew, Mark and Luke did not even exist until later).   The Devil is a relatively modern invention: the title (it is not a name) descends from Middle English devel, from Old English dēofol, borrowed from an early Germanic source that plagiarized the Latin diabolus that comes from  the Greek diabolos (διάβολος) “slanderer” (contemporary Greek has slander as συκοφαντία that actually should be translated as calumny).  Diabolus  and Dæmon are distinct in the ancient world, but became synonymous with the poor translation of the Vulgate bible.

Map (1874) of Gog and Magog

Satan will gather Gog and Magog (Hebrew: גּוֹג וּמָגוֹג‎; Arabic: يَأْجُوج وَمَأْجُوج‎ Yaʾǧūǧ wa-Maʾǧūǧ are terms that do not even exist before the sixth century BCE, and end with the 1st century CE, until they appear in the Quran, c.622 CE, and then referred to people of two specific nations) from the four corners of the earth where the sons of Noah allegedly moved.  According to the mythology of Genesis 10, Magog is one of the sons (the second) of Japheth:  This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah’s sons, (which is a worldwide myth and found in every culture (and reflects the legend of Oedipus who married and fathered children by his mother), who themselves had a variety of sons (the word is ambiguous and does not mean, necessarily, only males but indicates females) within the forty-days on the high seas)

sons after the flood. Genesis 10:2 notes: The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras ( בְּנֵי יֶפֶת גֹּמֶר וּמָגֹוג וּמָדַי וְיָוָן וְתֻבָל וּמֶשֶׁךְ וְתִירָס׃ ).  Compare 1 Chronicles 1:5 and Ezekiel 38:2 (1 Enoch, following Ezekiel, states that the final battle will be a war waged by the Medes and Parthians (Persians) who will attack Jerusalem and in the bloodsoaked battle and amid the carnage that was to be “a joyful spectacle for the favor of the gods” be destroyed; read: Bøe, Sverre (2001). Gog and Magog. Ezechiel 38-39 als Vortext für die Offenbarung 19,27-21 und 20,7-10 [Gog and Magog: Ezekiel 38-39 as pre-text for Revelation 19,17-21 and 20,7-10]. Jesus the Warrior

The word Armageddon appears only once in the Greek New Testament (Revelation 16:16) as discussion of past wars was not the purpose of the New Testament that was to refocus Hebrew attention away from battle (“messiah” means “warrior”) to a more eschatological (end of all battles and of time) interpretation.  Because of its similarity to preparedness for battle as promised by the Prophets, the various writers of Revelation may have incorporated a refined (Hellenized) version of the Hebrew har məgiddô (הר מגידו), meaning “Mountain of Megiddo”.  Far from being a mount or mountain har was actually a Tel: a small mount or hill on which ancient forts were built to guarded the main highway (the Via Maris), that connected Ancient Egypt with Mesopotamia and over which numerous armies passed, giving further support to the martial fervor of the chrestianos (a group of Alexandrian Jews who would relocate to Rome by the first century CE in anticipation of a warrior messiah).

Tel Megiddo (Egyptian battle ground)

Tel Megiddo was the location of many decisive battles in ancient times including one in the 15th century BCE ( fought between Egyptian forces under the command of Pharaoh Thutmose III and a large Canaanite (pre-Hebrew) coalition under the king of Kadesh; Thutmose III reestablished Egyptian dominance, leading small nations worried about another fight at the same location; cp. Eric H. Cline (May 2002). The Battles of Armageddon: Megiddo and the Jezreel Valley from the Bronze Age to the Nuclear Age. University of Michigan Press, and cf. Paul K. Davis (1999), 100 Decisive Battles from Ancient Times to the Present: The World’s Major Battles and How They Shaped History.  Oxford: Oxford University Press, p. 1) and one in 609 BCE (with Necho II of Egypt leading his army to Carchemish to fight with his Assyrian allies against the Babylonians at Carchemish in northern Syria.  To give battle against the Babylonians required passing through territory controlled by the Kingdom of Judah and Necho requested permission from its king, Josiah.  Josiah refused, and most likely stood with the Babylonians and in the battle that took place Josiah was killed; read:  Herodotus, Histories 4:42 2, Kings 23:29-30 and II Chronicles 35:20-35. cp. Cline, Eric H. (2000), The Battles of Armageddon: Megiddo and the Jezreel Valley from the Bronze Age to the Nuclear Age, University of Michigan Press).

Yggdrasil (Scandinavian Tree of Life with powers of regeneration)

From this account and similar records, with the advent of the Apiru (Hebrews) from India, would filter south into the Middle East the Scandinavian legend of a Tree of Life that was not to have “its fruits eaten by mere mortals, nor by the workers of the land”.  It is from the far north that we find a special tree in the center of a garden that was the center of the earth and would produce food so special that it was only for the grounds’ keeper–the godhead who would oversee the work of mortals molded out of red earth: Adamah.

The two nations will encamp surrounding the “holy ones”, meaning the “true believers” or “elect” and “saved” and the “beloved city” (Jerusalem). Fire will come down as wrathful rain from God filled with so much hatred that the deity will destroy without mercy or compassion all those who do not bow to his cruelty.  The fires that will be the torch of hell will flare out of heaven and devour Gog and Magog after the Millennium (1000 years that Jesus is to live and reign as King of the Universe), and the Devil (not The Satan) who deceived the angels and unbelievers is thrown into Gehenna (Gehenna is an Egyptian word for the Lake of Fire [She en Amu {on the Papyrus of Nu}]

Gehenna is an Egyptian word for Lake of Fire

and brimstone, or a more fiendish version of the Greek Hell) where the Beast and the False Prophet (a term that appears in The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7:15–23; cp. Deuteronomy 13:1–5 and the penalty for being a false prophet–as determined by the priests–is death, as decreed in per Deuteronomy 18:20) have been since before the 1,000 years.  To make clear that Jesus was not the False Prophet as many believed, the writers of the Letters of John argue that Jesus alone would protect them (1 John 1:18 f, 2:7-8, etc.).  All of the interjections of the name of Jesus do not appear anywhere in relationship to the concept of a rapture (or being caught up and snatched away: ἁρπαγησόμεθα or harpagēsometha).

Jesus never used the term.  The word “rapture” is neither based on the Koine Greek text of the Bible, nor found in the Attic where it is a form of κατοχή or ownership.  If κατοχή is the case, that would best be interpreted as meaning that people are mere possessions and have no free will at all; that people are toys and items that are at the whim of a god, not beloved by a god.  Even the Latin rapere means “to seize” or “to steal” and with this the individual has neither value nor importance but is a commodity and follows more of the ancient Arabic influence where people are subjected to (islam) the whim of a tyrant.

Cotton Mather

The concept of a rapture is a relatively recent novelty, an invention by a father and his son: Increase and Cotton Mather.  Their line of argument actually reflects a strong ancient Egyptian idea, where Ra determines the fate of each individual.   The Mathers argued in sermons and in letters that believers would be caught up in the air, followed by judgments on the Earth, and then the millennium (Kyle, Richard G (1998). The Last Days Are Here Again: A History of the End Times. Grand Rapids, Michigan: Baker. pp. 78–79, and Boyer, Paul (1992). When Time Shall Be No More: Prophecy Belief in Modern American Culture. Cambridge, Mass: Belknap Press of Harvard University Press. p. 75).  By the end of the eighteenth century “the Time of Tribulation” was introduced, and with it the grotesqueness of Rapture winnowing out the few from the many, coming as a misreading of Matthew 24:21 (εσται γαρ τοτε θλιψις μεγαλη οια ου γεγονεν απ αρχης κοσμου εως του νυν ουδ ου μη γενηται ) following Ezekiel 5:9 and Daniel 12:1, both being inspired by insipid Babylonian theology.  While Baptists (Marotta, Frank (1995). Morgan Edwards: An Eighteenth Century Pretribulationist. Morganville, NJ: Present Truth Publishers), Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Adventists and several pentecostal movements use this passage (along with the two aforementioned passages in the Old Testament) to proclaim a long period of suffering, the text does not state that.  There is no time frame, no time line, no description of the suffering–it is an over-reaction to one line badly translated because of careless hands in medieval scriptoria.

Emmanuel Lacunza

Roman Catholic clergy also clung to this method of mind control, as seen in the spurious and poorly organized writing of  Emmanuel Lacunza (1731–1801), a Jesuit priest, born in Chile but moved to Italy in 1767, and prevaricated the truth by claiming to be  a converted Jew by the name of Juan Josafat Ben Ezra.  He wrote, in Spanish, a lengthy apocalyptic work entitled La venida del Mesías en gloria y majestad [The Coming of the Messiah in Glory and Majesty] that was not published until 1811, ten years after his death.

The concept of there being a supernatural rapture found fertile soil to grow with the writings of John Nelson Darby (18 November

John Nelson Darby

1800 – 29 April 1882), an Irish lawyer turned Anglican preacher.  Darby developed a method of biblical interpretation called dispensationalism and became “the father of the rapture doctrine.”  He was the first to develop a theology that incorporated the teaching that Jesus would return secretly (His “second” coming) to rapture His true followers, leaving the rest behind to be ruled by an evil antichrist for seven years, and then return again (His “third” coming) in a visible, glorious coming to destroy antichrist, save those who were converted during the seven-year tribulation, and establish His own kingdom.

Cyrus Ingersoll Scofield (1843-1921)

Cyrus Scofield, a disciple of Darby’s, later published a Bible with explanatory notes in which he incorporated Darby’s views on the rapture.  The Scofield Bible is still the most popular Bible sold today, complete with Scofield’s additions and deletions, errors and interpretations. Within this one can even prick out the unique concept of Tribulation (this extrabiblical/pseudepigraphical rendition ultimately was included in the curriculums of well-known and greatly loved institutions such as Moody Bible Institute and Dallas Theological Seminary; read: Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/981788, cp. Clarendon Press; some have found her “comments” to be demonic: Wilkinson, Paul Richard (2007). For Zion’s Sake: Christian Zionism and the Role of John Nelson Darby. London: Paternoster,  p. 192-193; MacPherson acknowledges that Darby knew this. And MacPherson attempted to argue that Darby knew the demonic origin of the rapture and incorporated it into his theology anyway. MacPherson also argued that there existed a conspiracy among dispensationalist leaders in order to “cover up” the fact that Darby supposedly borrowed the idea from MacDonald, ibid., pp. 151-154) in contradiction of Matthew 24:36.

The Tribulation is to be, according to those who believe in a “rapture” a relatively short period of time.  During this period of time, those who do not chose to follow the Christian God before the Rapture will be left behind and experience worldwide hardships, disasters, famine, war, pain, and suffering. This act, considered a “mercy of the true God” will wipe out more than 75% of all life on the earth before the Second Coming takes place so as to purify the world for the “Spotless Lamb of God”, a thesis that follows the earliest Tribulationists who proclaimed that they would prepare themselves for the Second Coming in 70 CE–the majority being chrestianos: those seeking a warrior-savior who would create a new empire over the ruins of Rome.

While many evangelical extremists, like Hal Lindsey (author of The Late Great Planet Earth) have attempted to calculate the Second Coming and how long the Tribulation will last before the Rapture, their calculations are based on various non-agreeing mathematics in the Bible. For example:  In the Old Testament there are to be 1290 days of tribulation according to Daniel 12:11:  וּמֵעֵת הוּסַר הַתָּמִיד וְלָתֵת שִׁקּוּץ שֹׁםֵם יָמִים אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם וְתִשְׁעִים׃, but 1260 days if calculations are to be taken from the New Testament: Revelation 11:3:  και δωσω τοις δυσιν μαρτυσιν μου και προφητευσουσιν ημερας χιλιας διακοσιας εξηκοντα περιβεβλημενοι σακκους.

Watch Tower waiting for the Rapture (1914) Jehovah’s Witnesses

Michael William Miller (founder of the Adventists)

Among the many cults of Christianity, the Rapture has caught the attention of the fundamentalist fanatical fringe groups.   Michael William Miller (1782-1849), an American Baptist preacher who was worried about mortality and an afterlife  and, after reflecting upon his own mortality followed the recent deaths of his father and sister, claimed that Jesus was coming back in 1844 (basing his calculations on Daniel 8:14, not realizing that Daniel had not been in the original Old Testament and that it was an ancient Babylonian myth) in a flurry of fire (this was based on the seventh seal being finally broken, and an angel hurling a golden censer, filled with fire, towards the earth as written in (Revelation 8:1-5).

When Jesus did not return in 1844, Millerism as his sect was known before changing it to Adventist, a Miller-defined church split and  several spin-off religions formed after “The Great Disappointment” (when Jesus did not return).  Among the offshoots were the Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Both groups, appealing to the poor and uneducated, began to calculate the date the world would end.  The Adventists initiated a novel theology based on Miller’s writings that included the unconsciousness of man in death, conditional immortality (this actually follows ancient Egyptian theology that argues that  the dead sleep unconscious

until the Resurrection of the Dead to stand for a Last Judgment before the God Osiris, using Genesis 3:22-24 that teaches that human beings will naturally die without continued access to God’s life-giving power; this annihilationistic ideology argues, further, that the souls of the wicked will be destroyed in Gehenna (often translated “hell”), an atoning ministry of Jesus Christ in the heavenly sanctuary (it is the 24th of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Adventists (like most non-traditional Protestants, most of the Adventist theology is Old Testament based, as with this example and the Adventist citation of Heb. 8:1-5; 4:14-16; 9:11-28; 10:19-22; 1:3; 2:16, 17; Dan. 7:9-27; 8:13, 14; 9:24-27; Num. 14:34; Eze. 4:6; Lev. 16; Rev. 14:6, 7; 20:12; 14:12; 22:12).  James White and Ellen G. White wrote extensively about this concept when they purified and finalized the formation of the Adventist church.

Along with other Sabbatarian Adventist leaders, such as Joseph Bates Ellen Gould White and her husband James White, formed what is now known as the Seventh-day Adventist Church.  Ellen White had frequent “visions” and claimed each vision as a biblical gift of prophecy as outlined in Revelation 12:17 and 19:10, equating herself to be nearly on par with Jesus of the New Testament and a modern-day Apostle.  Having been struck in the head by a rock thrown by another student when she was nine years of age, Ellen Gould White  wrote about creationism (as the literally true way the earth was formed), agriculture, theology, evangelism, Christian lifestyle, education and health (cf. Ellen Gould Harmon White (1860). My Christian Experience, Views, And Labors In Connection With The Rise And Progress Of The Third Angel’s Message. Battle Creek, MI: James White, 1860; her visions made her a sought-after preacher, See: Shaw, Horace (1959). Doctoral dissertation, “A Rhetorical Analysis of the Speaking of Mrs. Ellen G. White, A Pioneer Leader and Spokeswoman of the Seventh-day Adventist Church” (Michigan State University), p. 282f).

Adventists argue that Jesus was a High Priest in the Hebrew Temple who provides cleansing for human sins by the sacrificial shedding of his blood), and an “investigative judgment” that commenced in 1844.  Adventists further cite select verses allegedly written by Saul/Paul of Tarsus, such as  1 Timothy 6:15-16 that reads: “God… alone is immortal,” coupling it with 2 Timothy 1:10 where the authors of the Second Letter (now proven to be written after the fourth century CE) writes that immortality only comes to human beings as a gift through the gospel.  The Jehovah’s Witnesses have been predicting the end of the world since their beginning.

Charles Taze Russell (founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses)

The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society (WTBTS), also known as the
Jehovah’s Witnesses (JWs) was formed as Zion’s Watch Tower in 1879 by Charles Taze Russell.  Russell rejected the traditional (orthodox) concept of Hell, the idea of an afterlife (the soul sleeps after death which is more in keeping with the early Hebrews than Christianity) for those who are not members, there is no salvation outside of membership, and are to avoid music, television, movies, drinking alcohol, smoking, sports, school activities such as clubs, and girl/boy scouts and similar groups. No crosses are to be displayed (they reject the deity of Jesus who was the physical incarnation of the archangel Michael), organ transplants and blood transfusions are expressly forbidden.  The Jehovah’s Witnesses accept the Rapture, based on Matthew 24:41-42, and assert that Jesus came to prophecy his kingdom to be of this earth, and to give his life so that he could be resurrected to prepare to rule his kingdom made up of believers from heaven. According the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the body of Christ is a very select group of people. It ultimately will consist of 144,000 and all others will perish. What the Jehovah’s Witnesses forget is the prophecy they quote is about the 144,000 who are already in heaven (12,000 from each of the 12 Hebrew tribes)–so there is no room for them or anyone else.

Papyrus of Nes Min (At the end of the fourth century BCE, a Theban priest and scribe named Nesmin who held numerous positions without ever becoming a member of the upper hierarchy took with him to the tomb some of his own books instead of the more usual Book of the Dead to be with 144,000 of the elect)

What is ignored is Revelation 7:9, 10, 14. Even the number is suspect, as 144,000 is common in nearly all religions (for example, it is 1 b’ak’tun on the Mayan calendar), it is a prime number for the ancient Egyptians literally passing from this life to an afterlife, and it is a part of ancient Canaan (Attridge, Harold. W., and R. A. Oden, Jr. (1981), Philo of Byblos: The Phoenician History: Introduction, Critical Text, Translation, Notes, CBQMS 9 Washington: D. C.: The Catholic Biblical Association of America), Samaria, and Akkadian civilizations (Moscati, Sabatino (1956, 1960, 1962, 2001).  Il profilo dell Óriente mediterraneo [Torino], (1956) translated as Face of the Ancient Orient: Near Eastern civilization in pre-classical times  Mineola, N.Y. : Dover Publications, p. 174: “The first, called ‘Kingship in Heaven’, tells how this kingship passes from Alalu to Anu, … was king in heaven, Alalu was seated on the throne and the mighty Anu, first among the gods”).

Duat (Rapture) of the Egyptian gods/goddesses

The ancient Egyptians also had a rapture, when each person was called individual, or an entire community fell to a natural calamity, after which the gods would determine the fate of the dead and undead. When a person died, upon arriving in the realm of the Duat (Land of the Gods), the deceased had to pass through seven gates, breaking seven seals in order to pass to the next plateau. The Duat is sometimes described as the ‘reversed world’ or ‘inverted precinct’, and in the Pyramid Texts we read: ‘O Osiris the King, I am Isis; I have come into the middle of this earth, into the place where you are’. Osiris was the Egyptian phoenix, which was ‘the bringer of the life-giving essence, the hikê, a concept akin to our idea of magic, which the great cosmic bird carried to Egypt from a distant and magical land beyond the earthly world.’ This was the ‘Isle of Fire’, ‘the place of everlasting light beyond the limits of the world, where the gods were born or revived and whence they were sent into the world’. This is a reference to the Duat. The Duat (or Hidden Place) was sometimes conceived as a completely closed “Circle of the Gods” formed by the body of Osiris.

Book of the Dead of Nakht (18th Dynasty)

At the final level, the dead would bow before forty-two gods who listened to the confessions of the deceased who claimed to be innocent of crimes against the divine and human social order. The person’s heart was then placed on a scale, counterbalanced by a feather that represented Maat, the goddess of truth and justice.

Anubis and Last Judgment

The weighing of the heart was overseen by the jackal-headed god Anubis, and the judgement was recorded by Thoth, the god of writing. If the heart was equal in weight to the feather, the person was justified and achieved immortality. If not, it was devoured by the goddess Amemet. This meant that the person would not survive in the afterlife. When a pharaoh passed the test, he became one with the god Osiris. He then travelled through the underworld on a solar bark, accompanied by the gods, to reach paradise and attain everlasting life.  Where is there a difference between this and the concept of death and afterlife in Christianity?  How much destruction of lives, fortunes, property are involved with the myth of a rapture done over the years?

Harold Camping (2011)

In the USA and elsewhere, self-styled evangelists and predictors of the end of the world, such as Harold Camping (born July 19, 1921), and radio evangelist whose study of the Bible convinced him and his followers that the world would end on May 21, 2011 (as of this writing, Camping is stating that the world will come to an end of October 21, 2011).  But it did not–but destroyed countless lives of those who would not think for themselves but followed the lunacy of one man who chose selective quotes from his bible to prove his own limited knowledge.  While Camping had urged people to pray, at the same time he taught that people had to leave the churches to prepare themselves for the Tribulation and Rapture–and his call was sent out both in English and in the

Camping's Judgment Day (It just occurred to me that praying looks a lot like defecating)

Spanish languages.

Judgment Day 21 May 2011 in Spanish

Like early twentieth-century Jehovah’s Witnesses and Adventists, He has also predicted earlier failed-to-appear judgment days on May 21, 1988, and September 7, 1994 (Radio host says Rapture actually coming in October – (UK) Globe and Mail. May 23, 2011, and Nelson, Chris (18 June 2002). “A Brief History of the Apocalypse; 1971 – 1997: Millennial Madness” on-line at http://www.abhota.info/end3.htm, and International Business Times, “Harold Camping Says End did come May 21, spiritually; Predicts New Date: October 21” on-line at http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/150707/20110524/harold-camping-says-end-did-come-may-21-spiritually-predicts-new-date-october-21.htm).  Camping’s failed prophecy, that reverberated all around the world and even had evangelicals in Perú preaching the firey end of the planet on local television, are criminals who have destroyed life and limb of many, causing death and serious injury to true believers.  In California, a woman named Lyn Benedetto was one of millions who heard Camping’s message.  A bible-totting, bible-believing, self-taught bible expert fervently believed the prophecy of Camping and became concerned that her daughters would suffer terribly in the coming apocalypse. As if she were the mythological Abraham of Genesis who was commanded by a mericless deity to slay his son, Lyn Benedetto  forced her daughters, 11 and 14, to lie on a bed and then cut their throats with a box cutter. Benedetto then went further than the old man from India, for unlike Abraham (Brahama), Benedetto then tried to kill herself before the police arrived.  Rather than the rapture coming, the police pushed into her home and arrested the out-of-control mother and all three survived without the interference of a god who was unconcerned about the event.

On September 6th 1994, a group of [Camping’s] followers dressed up for the Sabbath and filed expectantly into a war veterans’ building in Alameda, California. They prayed and held their open bibles to the skies, but nothing happened. Fifteen years later, the explanation of their leader that he simply got his sums mixed up is generally accepted.

The god of Camping was indifferent to the suffering of others who believed firmly in the rapture–one predicted for thousands of years, each time not to occur. The prophecy of the 89-year-old Camping wrecked havoc in the poorest nations on this planet.

The rapture devastates thinking in Kahusma, Ghana

In Ghana, cars were tailgating to get away from the rapture as if it was an option (http://www.thedailymaverick.co.za/article/2010-05-21-its-all-over-in-a-year-may-21st-2011-doomsday-cult-rocks-on).

Nigeria Christians spend money difficult to obtain to buy billboards proclaiming the Rapture.

In Nigeria, full-billboards were sponsored by fundamentalists Christians who worried that they would not be among the elect because of their lethargy and slowness in “killing the gays.”  Prayers to be “swept up” were more common that prayers begging for protection, and when May 21 passed without incident, those determined to “root out evil” became more determined to destroy sin in their nation so that only “the pure of heart” would survive untainted by the existence of homosexuals who are equated with The Devil.

Master Wang's prophecy of a tsunami destroying Taiwan May 11, 2011 (cinema production)

An elderly man in Taiwan reportedly killed himself on May 5 ahead of the Rapture by jumping out of a building.  The dedicated Christian had heard that doomsday was imminent, and had taken recent earthquakes and tsunamis as early warning signs, for natural phenomena such as the movement of tectonic plates, toronados and heavy rains has long been considered proof that god is angry and the end is near.  “Wang Laoshi” or Master Wang, a local fortune teller, tried to surpass Harold Camping–at an earlier date–by taking the Rapture a step further: he’s predicted that a powerful earthquake will virtually destroy Taiwan on May 11th, 2011 by god ripping Taiwan into two separate islands by sending a devastating tsunami against the island nation. A small band of believers are so convinced by the accuracy of his fortune telling that began building a series of fallout shelters to protect themselves from the coming tsunami.  ( http://tw.video.news.yahoo.com/video/lifestyle-19458046/14-25050632 and http://www.la-fin-du-monde.fr/2011/05/un-prophete-taiwanais-annonce-la-fin-du-monde-pour-le-11-mai-a-10h42-et-37/).

Central Weather Bureau Chief Shin Tzay-chyn refutes Wang Lanshoi predicting the division of Taiwan into two islands on May 11, 2011

Wang Laoshi in his 70s

Unlike the USA that allows unbridled free speech even if it is harmful to the safety and well-being of its citizens, Taiwan is not that liberal.  After Wang’s outrageous prediction, more than 100 shelters converted from cargo containers were being built in Puli, a town in the county.  Wang had advised people to stay in cargo containers, which he said would be safer than regular buildings once the alleged imminent catastrophe happened, according to local media reports.  The government opined that Wang “could also be violating the Social Order Law by spreading rumours to cause public panic”.  Fraud convictions carry a maximum five-year jail term while breaking the law on social order is punishable by a fine of up to Tw$30,000 ($1,000).  Taiwan’s weather bureau on Thursday also warned that Wang risked a fine of up to Tw$1 million for issuing unauthorised disaster warnings on his blog — remarks Wang later removed (read: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20110429/od_afp/taiwandisasteroffbeat_20110429044555).

It is the mythology that the ultra-conservative groups, such as the Tea Party in the USA, thrive on in their drive to turn each nation into a nation of believers while destroying individual incentive and efforts.  Today, the Tea Party, is moving rapidly with millions from the Koch Brothers of Kansas to “bring back” Christianity to the classroom, and backward states such as Texas, Iowa, Ohio, New Jersey, and so forth are digging up the fabrication that the USA is a “Christian Nation” (first articulated by US Supreme Court Sandra Day O’Connor).

The mass media was saturated by other unconfirmed reports of doomsday-related suicides around the world as well.  They filtered into the Associated Press from Russia, Ethiopia, and elsewhere, with the illiterate and undereducated being the bulk of those confused and willing to seek death over not being swept up in the rapture with the few, the elite of god, to a new life.

Heaven's Gate mass suicide (March 26, 1997)

This was not the first time that failed doomsday predictions  have led to tragedy. The most famous pre-apocalypse suicides in recent times occurred in 1997 when the Heaven’s Gate Christian UFO group came to believe that the comet Hale-Bopp was a sign that Jesus was returning, based on the fantasies in the Book of Revelation plagiarized from ancient Egyptian, Akkadian, Etruscan and other sources that earlier had declared the world would end soon.  Heaven’s Gate was an American UFO religion that believed that flying saucers would take those who left their bodies on earth would be transported to a better place in space. The group was based in San Diego, California.  It was founded and led by Marshall Applewhite (1931–1997 who was the oldest to commit suicide) and Bonnie Nettles (1928–1985, whom was his nurse after having a heart attack; he saw himself and Bonnie as “The Two” as the two witnesses recorded in the Book of Revelation 11:3, and determined they were destined for salvation). On March 26, 1997, in a period when Comet Hale-Bopp was at its brightest, police discovered the bodies of 39 members of the group who had committed suicide in order to reach an alien aircraft which was supposedly following the Hale-Bopp comet. This prompted copy-cat resurgency of rapture radicals demanding an immediate preparation for the Final War and gave credence to Camping and others, encouraged in part by scripture but basically by radio talk shows and evangelist-controlled television programs, that led  to fundamentalist fanaticism which created a stir especially in poor Latin American and Asian nations pushed by Biblical illiterates such as Pat Robertson (700 Club), Pentecostal preachers preying on the poor while either working fulltime jobs or serving as legislators in state legislatures, and the nationally registered organized hate group American Family Association.

In Perú, where nearly half of the programming is controlled by televangelists who preach Old Testament hate, groups gathered to witness the rapture, many prepared to kill themselves if they were not a part of the elect, with Jehovah’s Witnesses passing pamphlets to the literate but uneducated in open-air markets and on street corners.  This is the price for attempting to read an ancient myth and give it current coinage.

The Evil of Allah in the Qur’an/Koran

The Qur’an/Koran has more than 500 messages of how Allah loves all people:

Qur’an (40:71-72)When the fetters and the chains shall be on their necks; they shall be dragged Into boiling water, then in the fire shall they be burned

Qur’an (22:19-21)But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads; Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted; And for them are hooked rods of iron

Qur’an (4:56)Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment Lo! Allah is ever Mighty, Wise

Qur’an (56:92-94)But if he is of the rejecters, the erring, then the welcome will be boiling water and roasting at hell-fire

As to what regard Muslims are to show for those who don’t believe, the Qur’an says to be ruthless toward them, since they are going to Hell anyway:

Qur’an (9:73)O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination

Qur’an (66:9)O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them. Hell will be their home, a hapless journey’s end.

Qur’an (8:55)Surely the vilest of animals in Allah’s sight are those who disbelieve

Qur’an (9:30)And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah… Allah (Himself) fights against them. How perverse are they!

Qur’an (4:52)Those (Christians) are they whom Allah hath cursed

Qur’an (4:47) – O you (Jews) who have been given the Book! believe that which We have revealed, verifying what you have, before We alter faces then turn them on their backs, or curse them as We cursed the violaters of the Sabbath, and the command of Allah shall be executed.

Qur’an (5:59-60) – This verse begets the infamous belief on the part of some Muslims that Jews are descended from swine and apes, since it says that wicked Jews (at least) were transformed by Allah in the past.  (See also 2:64)

The Hadith of Islam shows that the loving Allah is full of plans for violence, rape, and torture “for all eternity” towards those who do not fully become slaves of Islam (a word that means “submission” or “enslavement”):

Bukhari (54:487)Someone asked, “O Allah’s Apostle This (ordinary) fire would have been sufficient (to torture the unbelievers),” Allah’s Apostle said, “The (Hell) Fire has 69 parts more than the ordinary (worldly) fire, each part is as hot as this (worldly) fire.”  In other words, ordinary fire isn’t hot enough to torture non-Muslims.  Therefore the fire in Hell is 69 times hotter.

Bukhari (2:28) – Women comprise the majority of Hell’s occupants.  (A weak Hadith, Kanz al-`ummal, 22:10, even suggests that 99% of women go to Hell).

Muslim (40:6831) – Non-Muslims in Hell will be given thick skin so as to prolong their agony (before they are given fresh skin for a new round of torture – Qur’an verse 4:56).

Bukhari (59:727)Allah’s Apostle [said]… “Allah’s curse be on the Jews and the  Christians”  This was spoken on Muhammad’s death bed, and was one of the last things that he ever said.

Ishaq 240 – “The Jews are a nation of liars…. The Jews are a treacherous, lying, and evil people”.

Not only does Allah punish people disproportionately for mere unbelief, but he explicitly creates them to be nothing more than “fuel for the fire” of hell Qur’an (72:15) and actually “causes the unjust to go astray” Qur’an (14:27) (see also verses 74:31 and 18:17) even though he has the ability to lead everyone down the right path Qur’an (16:9).  A person’s good deeds are for naught Qur’an (18:104-106).  Allah even sends the wives of “evil-doers” to Hell without apparent regard for their own guilt Qur’an (37:22).

Those who reject the Qur’an/Koran have a unique future in the gardens of sexual pleasure (heaven) with Allah (a minor god in the Kaaba in charge of swine) and will be targets for Allah-sanctioned assassinations: http://www.muslimhope.org/Assassinations.htm. The myths surrounding are too numerous to cite, but can be found at http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/Muhammad/myths-mu-home.htm.

As for Islam being “family values oriented”–it is not true. Afghanistan is a nation where pedophilia (Brinkley, Joel, “Afghanistan’s dirty little secret,” San Francisco Gate (August 29, 2010; at  http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=%2Fc%2Fa%2F2010%2F08%2F28%2FINF21F2Q9H.DTL) is openly practiced and condoned based on the Qur’an/Koran.

The contradictions in the Qur’an/Koran are too numerous to report fully, but among the most outlandish are:

53:45-46 (Allah created males and females from a sperm drop (nutfah) cp. 75:38-39 (man was not a drop of sperm, but Allah made the sexes).

Garden (of Eden) is said to be the earth and all the heavens (Samawath: plural) in 3:133, but in 57:21 heaven is with width of the lower heaven (Sama: singular) and the earth combined.

Satan is accused of misleading people and creating false desires in 4:119-120, but in 15:42 it is Allah who leads people astray as part of his plan to send them to Hell to watch them in eternal torment.

Qur’an/Koran 31:15 requires “believers” to tolerate and keep company with nonbelievers especially parents; but in 9:23, believers are told to leave and reject fathers and brothers who are non-believers.

In 13:4, 17:98-99, 20:55, 34:7, 75:3-4, the body and soul go to heaven, but in Sura 89 it is only the soul that enters the Garden. Heaven is a physical place where one can drink Zanzabil (76:17), feel cool temperatures (76:13), have sex with virgins (55:56), drink honey and milk (47:16-17), but Yousuf Ali 89:27-30 says that only the soul enters (ref. 31:28) and thus cannot enjoy corporal pleasures. The issue of the soul (6:93, 39:42) is very much like the Hindu Vedic scriptures tell: that it is soul, mind, spirit, and heart (consciousness) that can be a part of Allah (6:12, 54).

Allah needs mortals (51:56) in one part of the Qur’an/Koran as Allah cannot exist without mortal, but mortalkind need Allah (35:15) to give them direction. Mortals are not the source of evil, but evil as well as good comes from Allah (4:78) in one part, but in 47:79 Allah can create only good–therefore evil is not from Allah; uniquely the god of Islam (Allah) is responsible for all misguidance and wrong doings in 35:8, 16:93, 74:31, 2:142), but it is mortalkind that is responsible for wrong actions and doings as in 30:9 and 4:79. But while 6:12 argues that mortals can elect to believe or not, 10:100 states that only with Allah’s permission can mortals (soul) believe.

Allah is very much like the Old Testament Yahweh–quick to anger, eager to take revenge, and even more rapidly to condone rape, pillaging, and murder in his name. Thus, while 2:256 says “there is no compulsion in religion”, the Qur’an/Koran 8:38-39 states the opposite.

Concerning Mary, several angels appear to her in Sura 3:42,45, but only one in Sura 19:17-21. Allah’s day is equal to 1000 human years (Sura 22:47, 32:5) but elsewhere (Sura 70:4) is equal to 50,000 human years. Allah, during one of his days created one garden in Paradise (Sura 41:30, 57:21), but “many gardens” in Sura 18:31, 22:23, 25:33, 78:32). The entire act of creating “the heavens and the earth” took place in six days in Sura 7:54, 10:3, 11:7, 25:59, but in Sura 41:9-12, the creation process took eight days. Uniquely, Sura 2:29 says that the earth was created first, then the heaven; but Sura 49:27-30 says that the heaven was created first and then the earth. Sura 41:11 states that during creation heaven and earth were separate but then joined together, while Sura 21:30 says that heaven and earth were originally one and then ripped apart.

People may rise to Paradise, but must die at the hands of one angel in Sura 32:11, many angels in Sura 47:27, but Allah takes the life and soul in Sura 39:42.

Muhammad’s revelation, according to Sura 2:97 came from the angel Gabriel; but in Sura 16:102, the “Holy Spirit” brought Muhammad the revelation that he would demand Remembrancers memorize. Yet the Holy Spirit was, in the early days of christianity a woman who, by Babylonian tradition and theology would be assumed into heave and have the stars and her crown and the moon at her feet.
