Hector Avalos and the Holocaust in the Bible and today: Israel, Inquisition, Luther, Hiter and what the Bible Says

Dr. Hector Avalos (Iowa State University) has issued a call for Biblical scholarship to forsake the main apologetic strategy of the last two thousand years of Jewish and Christian biblical interpretation and stop justifying the genocidal episodes found within scripture. While I have been arguing this for years, it is time that I restate my arguments in previously published books (Battered and Bruised: All the Women of the Old Testament and Moses: the Making of Myth and Law among others).  Both the Old Testament, and the New Testament (especially Revelation) are little more than the glorification of violence from the fratricide in Genesis to the Final Battle in the Apocalypse, with the battering of the Jesus in the New Testament taken from the torture stories in the ancient world.  The Bible is nothing more and nothing less than a story of genocide and hate, from its first tale of Eve debating the Great Advocate (the snake who not only was a teacher but the symbol of wisdom but the actual owner of the Tree of Knowledge, coming from the Egyptian Nehebkau (“he who harnesses the souls”) a the two-headed serpent deity who guarded the entrance to the underworld, was associated with fertility and rebirth and  became an emblem used in gnosticism to exemplify Sophia, and worshipped throughout the Middle East from Akkadia to Babylon and beyond; John Bathurst Deane, John Bathurst (1833).  The Worship of the Serpent, London, UK: J. Rivington) to the final whimper of the forces of Gog and Magog.  Tragically, these tales are much more than figurative, rhetorical, or formulaic discussions or tales, but are recounts of hate and violence.

Hatred is a family value.  Hatred is consciously taught by religions, governments, and families. Parents consciously and consistently chortles hatred and how to kill, maim, and enslave those who did not bow before their gods and murder to their children who, in turn teach their children in the same fashion–and their children learned the same blood-stained lesson that they would teach their children from the beginning of time to the present. 

Mortals created gods and priestly classes. Priests and religious teachers penned, chiseled, and later put upon websites continuing the hate that led mankind into acting out the greatest atrocities in the name(s) of their mythological gods (cf. the websites of Billy Graham, American Family Association, America’s Ku Klux Klan, National Organization for Marriage, and other certified hate groups).

Gods were from  the earliest records through today’s publications remain mired in execrable evil: mutant monsters demanding blood sacrifices, devouring doves and consuming cattle and children in battle and incinerated in great sacrificial fires and gas.  This has been the fate of the defenseless from the days of the ancient past to the emergence of the novel fantasy of Judaism that continued from the dark days of the early community of christianos and chrestianos to the exploitation, extortion and invention of  a later Catholic [universal] Church created by Constantine I in 325 CE, after stopping persecution of the various sects who claimed to follow the Jesus of the New Testament in 323 CE.  Eusebius notes that Constantine convoked the  “σύνοδον οἰκουμενικὴν συνεκρότει” (he [the emperor] convoked an Ecumenical [actually “worldwide” but it only meant the Roman Empire excluding Britain] Counci, in Vita Constantini; it accomplished very little but led to pitched battles over the words  οὐσία (ousia) “essence”, the feminine past participle of εἶναι (to be) as in being as being of one distinct substance and ὁμοούσιος (homoousia) or being of the same substance, thereby enabling those at the Council to introduce the Egyptian concept of the Trinity that has no biblical foundation and was a part of Gnostic theology and is not found before Gnosticism in the second century CE; ref. Ephrem Boularand, L’heresie d’Arius et la “foi” de Nicke, vol. 2, “La “foi” de Nicee” (Paris:Letouzey & Ane, 1972), 331-53).  Like unscrupulous despots before him, Constantine pushed and oversaw the rewriting of Jewish, Christian and  other world religions writings when he determined to dramatize his reign with the publication of fifty Bibles for the Eastern Church in 331 CE, under the oversight of the Arian Bishop Eusebius of Caesarea (Vita Constantini, IV,36-37), as there were numerous texts that were not accepted as canon and unquestionable.  Those that were not readily accepted included Letter to the Hebrews, James, II Peter, II and III John, and Revelation (Brakke, David. “Canon Formation and Social Conflict in Fourth Century Egypt: Athanasius of Alexandria’s Thirty Ninth Festal Letter,” in Harvard Theological Review 87 (1994) pp. 395–419). 

This same fetid, malodorous and mephitic, Bible (from Koine Greek τὰ βιβλία ta biblia “the books”) was later incorporated into the tainted, toxic tales of Muhammad and released as a Qur’an.  Both the Bible and the Qur’an were read by medieval monks and scholars, both became the basis for laws so vile with vitriolic verses, that they were the substance for abusive laws and collective mental illnesses: damning people to Trial by Ordeal and primitive forms of truth extraction.  Their messages of hate were pushed through the legislatures of medieval Germany, Spain, the splintered nations of Italy from then to the government of the Third Reich in the twentieth century and later in the barbaric Fourth Reich (Israel) and fledgling states determined to root out evil: Uganda and Nigeria in Africa, and Tea Party controlled legislatures in the USA.  The severity of this problem became clear to many when Israel stole land from its neighbors, without warrant settled Israeli people on the lands taken by force, and passed laws against the people of Palestine, limiting movement, denying care-givers entrance, and subjecting the land and people to bombs and bullets.  It remained the primary purpose of Israeli existence until collective insanity crystallized in the legislative bodies of hate-filled lawmakers in Uganda led by Speaker of the Ninth Parliament Rebecca

Kadaga (read here and here and here and here) who does not her ambition to be President of the nation and to launch her own Holocaust against her own countrymen regardless of the number of lives lost.  This was common knowledge, as a “supportive gay Ugandan” wrote:

Resistance Movement party agrees, and has admitted it publicly, that homosexuality has always been part of the African and Ugandan fabric. In fact, if you re-read your anthropology, you will find that homosexuality was tolerated before the white man came to Africa with his Bible – that foremost foreign import that our detractors love to subjectively, but liberally, quote from. I gather that you have no children of your own[my emphasis] but it can’t be lost on you that all gay men and women in Uganda (500,000 and counting according to unofficial estimates) must have been begotten through heterosexual unions.

Hang on to your political ambitions. I would, however, presume to remind you that, as Speaker, you represent the entire country, including minorities – not just disgraced politicians, bigoted Parliamentarians or convicted religious prelates.

Madam Speaker:

Madam Speaker, allow me to take you back to Shakespeare and caution you against “vaulting ambition, which o’erleaps itself, and falls on the other side.” Given what you must surely know befell Macbeth and his over-ambitious wife, a little more circumspection, forethought, moderation before you speak might not come amiss.

Remember, too, the fable of Icarus who flew too close to the sun. Or that of Dionysius, the tyrant of Syracuse and his courtier named Damocles. You might be on a roll now, but there are all sorts of threats behind the glory you are seeking. A week is a very long time in politics but there are three more years to go to Uganda’s next presidential election – literally a lifetime.

Madam Speaker:

Whether this bill is passed or not, you still have my support in your obvious quest to become the next president of Uganda – that is if I am not jailed and/or killed before 2016 by the legislation that you are so busy tying your colors to in which case my support will be moot.

From a gay Ugandan, living in Uganda, that you seek to criminalize purely on account of who he is, but who nonetheless supports your presidential ambitions because he is totally fed up to the back teeth of this uncaring, bungling, corruption-ridden, thieving, tired, rusted, putrid dish of a government), and Nigeria, pressured by Scott Lively and other ministerial miscreants from the USA–and other political entities from the USA intent on controlling the minds and actions of their people and generations to come.

As Jews were taught to hate Muslims and Muslims were lectured to hate Jews and Christians in the name of jihad, the novel notion of crusades launched long before the pathetic Pope Urban II’s Holocaust that consumed the lives of Greek Orthodox, Jews, Arabs and even Western Roman Catholics and little children attempted to erase both groups of people, giving antecedents as instructions for such troglodytes, who creep into the dark holes of terroristic fantasies and dream of world domination as the Inquisitors, passionately and perfectly portrayed in Dostoevsky’s Brothers Karamazov, of the medieval church and their offspring spreading hate: Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox who authored one of the most antisemitic tracts, Mary and Elizabeth Tudor, the Pilgrims, Puritans, Mormons and certified hate groups from the American Family Association to Focus on the Family, and individual miscreants from Billy and Franklin Graham to Keith Ratliff of West Des Moines, Iowa, Timothy Dolan of New York City, Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne of Lima, Benedict XVI of the Vatican, American Council of Roman Catholic Bishops, rabbis of the Ultra Orthodox movement, and Moscow Patriarch Kirill, we have all been  taught to hate each other.

Those who do not confession Islam as being “subject” to the mythical god Allah are taught not only antisemitism, but also are encouraged to kill those who are not Muslims, especially as seen today in Muslims attacks and resulting genocide in Burma by it repressive military leaders who, although most are Muslim, dehumanize the population.  This Burma dehumanization program is identical to the dehumanization of Americans by Bryan Fischer, Maggie Gallagher, Ann Coulter, Michelle Bachmann and other USA theocrats– and by “Christians” throughout Australia, Germany and the UK.  It occurs in the same way the all Hindu castes teach their children to hate other castes that have led to the slaughter of complete communities and the obscenity of “honor slayings” (watch and read here, and here) when troops rape children, with mothers slaying daughters for contracting denied marriages and sons and fathers slay sisters/daughters for actions the males thought sullied their honor in Canada.

The rape of children and women and slaughter of children in front of their parents is hailed by the gods of the Old Testament who finds comfort and joy in the carnage: “Anyone who is captured will be run through with a sword.  Their little children will be dashed to death right before their eyes.  Their homes will be sacked and their wives raped by the attacking hordes.  For I will stir up the Medes against Babylon, and no amount of silver or gold will buy them off.  The attacking armies will shoot down the young people with arrows.  They will have no mercy on helpless babies and will show no compassion for the children  (Isaiah 13:15-18 NLT)

While the Third Reich ruling Germany has been universally damned for killing more than eight million Jews (as well as nearly 1 million homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Romanian gypsies, White Russians, Poles, etc), the idea of Holocaust (originally a Greek word, ὁλόκαυστος, that translates “burn wholly”; in Hebrew it is השואה and translates as “catastrophe”—only in Yiddish, חורבן, does it mean “destruction”) is not new. Hitler received much of his instruction for the extermination from the German pastor and hate monger Martin Luther.

Luther had been taught to hate: first non-Christians and Christians who misused the Bible and did not follow precise teachings, as with “Animam purgatam evolare, est eam visione dei potiri, quod nulla potest intercapedine impediri. Quisquis ergo dicit, non citius posse animam volare, quam in fundo cistae denarius possit tinnire, errat. In: D. (St. Louis: Concordia, 1883), 12:1264-1267), and Michael, Robert. “Luther, Luther Scholars, and the Jews,” Encounter 46 (Autumn 1985) No. 4:343-344) then he defined the Jews as being the equivalent of the Devil in Vom Schem Hamphoras und vom Geschlecht Christi (Of the Unknowable Name and the Generations of Christ), by the Roman Catholic Church created by the Eastern Emperor Constantine I who led the attack on dissenters when he called his Council of Nicaea in 325 BCE, formed his “catholic [universal] church”, and burned all books and other records on religious speculation that he did not approve of.

This was common in all societies, climes, and times and was especially cruel among the early “Jews”—a group of mercenaries working for Akkadian warriors and known as Apiru/Abiru who came out of Iraq’s Fertile Crescent that became the source for the mythological Garden of Eden that was eagerly transmogrified into a home for the gods in all Middle Eastern religions, being the most likely the beginning of the famous Gardens of Babylon.  The ancient Hebrew people were certainly among the most barbaric people, and like genocidal forces everywhere, used religion to excuse and even justify their Hebrew Holocaust of ancient people as paid mercenaries serving Akkadian kings and tribal leaders in Egypt and elsewhere.

children in the Holocaust launched by the State of Israel against the Palestinians held captive by the Israelis in the Middle East (read here and watch and read here).  Jewish and Christian theologians, rabbis/teachers and spiritual leaders look past the most obvious examples of Holocaust, especially in the Torah and Prophets (Old Testament). In each case a god (or more exactly, a group of gods—elohim, אֱלֹהִ֔ים, is the plural; cf. Karas, Sara, in Encyclopedia of Judaism, p. 179) is called on to authorize, equip and justify carnage and Holocaust), as we find in Isaiah 21:9:”And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground”

Each of the multitudes of gods that pepper the Torah and tares at the Abiru/ Apiru record of cruelty and barbarity was at best a maniac demon demanding human sacrifice and slaughter; Numbers 25:3-4:  “And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, ‘Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.

There has never been anything new in the taking of heads, or scalps as with the Christians in the colonial new world of North America, Central America, and South America, supported by their clergy with feasting, celebrations, and prayers of thanksgiving.  This is even found today among the military: from the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army an Albanian insurgent organization) to Abu Gharib prison in Iraq, among Jews and jihadist ( جهاد‎ translates as “struggle” but originally meant to “strive in the way of God to be good and pure, and had no military or war-like claim, an interpretation ignored by most Muslims and non-Muslims as interpretation is now a dead art as much as translation is becoming less precise as street language takes over) Muslims in Aghanistan and around the world.

In every case the gods of the Torah and Prophets used the most vile, vicious, vitriol-filled fends that are nearly unimaginable, vomited from the mentally insane Moses to the fanatical Gideon and blood-thirsty Prophets. In the Book of Numbers, the Great Egyptian Satan known as Moses leads in the insanity of murder and holocaust: “And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also. And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense,” with the monstrous god s showing no compassion even for infants and the unborn.

The Mephistophelean mentality of Moses was dagga induced and yet surpassed in cruelty by the dragooned military leader David (the word דָּוִד, דָּוִיד   means beloved, but stemmed from the term for  house “ביתדוד” (House of David) indicating an established rule rather than a building) who slew indiscriminately and rejoiced in the death cries of newborns, nursing mothers and babies. “And he brought out the people that [sic: who] were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes…” (1 Chronicles 20:3); in chapters 17-19 the chronicler tartly tells us that David killed 22,000 Syrians and that Abishai killed 18,000 Edomites. No one expresses shame at such slaughters. In 20:3, the darling of the demonic Jewish empire recounts how David, counted as a great leader of the Israelites, slaughtered captives after the cessation of hostilities, and his people rejoiced in the flow of human blood.

Worse than the mass murderer David, Gideon gave true meaning to mercilessness and vengeance.  In Judges 8:7, we read: “And Gideon said, Therefore when the Lord hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers”  Three verses later the carnage is more articulately detailed: “Now Zebah and Zalmunna were Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an [sic: a] hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.”  This is the Gideon Society’s hero as it places Bibles into motels and hotels across America, with blood stained passages making up more than one-half of all the Old Testament themes and tales. It is surprising that the Gideon Society does not dedicate their cheap bibles to the holocausts cried out for by Martin Luther, or enacted by Gideon’s equal: Adolf Hitler whom Joseph Ratzinger followed as a NAZI youth. This would be appropriate as Gideon compares favorably with Gideon’s slaughter of thousands in battle by plotting with the “Lord” to use treachery, deceit, lies, and extortion, as Gideon was arrogant, selfish, egotistical, vain, and as ambitious as if he were Charles or Edward Koch in contemporary America.

Throughout the blood-soaked pages of the Book of Judges, we read that Gideon murdered thousands more for worshipping “false Gods”—meaning gods that were not the tribal totem of the emerging Hebrews from their warrior days as mercenaries for the Akkadians, to torturing and killing still more for daring to taunt him as the Brown Shirts (actually Sturmabteilung (SA) meaning “Storm Detachment” or “Assault Division”, “Brown Shirt” was merely a defining characteristic of what the early NAZI elite wore) in the NAZI empire are recorded as having done in their move to make Hitler equal to any YHWH, while like the SS (Schutzstaffel that translates as “Protection Squadron” that stood for maintaining what they considered the true “German Way”,  similar to the Tea Party in the USA that declared themselves to be the protectors of the “American Way) or the NAZI front, Gideon plundered the bodies of his victims (to fashion a jeweled priestly vestment) as would the NAZIs.  Gideon lived long enough to father a son who killed 69 of his stepbrothers (Joshua 7:19-26  cp. Mark 13:12).

The tale of Gideon describes just one of the many horror stories in the Bible, a book that glorifies behavior abysmal to modern society. The clergy and leaders have hoodwinked millions of people about the stories in the Bible as they are too eager to create a fantasy than take a solid look at the sordid reality that the Bible portrays, as there is not a single story that is not soaked in the fat of victims on its altars (not just rams or doves, but included young boys as with the tale of Abraham’s sacrifice of his son (in Islam it is Ishmael, in Jewish lore it is Isaac).  That it was understood to be the right of a father to kill a son is found in Genesis 42:37 and John 5:19-30.  The altar itself (in Hebrew the word is “slaughter place” and is a verb) was guarded by four protruding horns (symbol of the god bull Yeh), that required blood and fat. “For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life” (Leviticus 17:11).  “The law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22). Blood was always spilled on the horns and later New Testament authors would argue that Jesus was the “horns” of the new faith and his blood would be the sacrifice on the horns (Psalm 18:2, Luke 1:69) a continuation of the carnage of the past.

Crueler than just killing children, a common theme in the Old Testament, is the repetitive passages where the god(s) of the ancient Hebrews buried people alive out of spite, hatred, and vengeance. “And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the

congregation. And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also. And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.”  (Numbers 16:32-35).  Science would reject any such “divine intervention (or anger) as there are giant sinkholes everywhere on the planet that can open and close at any time.

Moses relays a sadistic threat that asks us to believe that God punishes members of families, including innocent infants. It is the Old and New Testament god(s) that demand death and kill without reason, frequently using Satanic fire to burn his/their creation(s). 

The most absurd reasons for the early Jewish Holocaust included people who do not listen to priests: “Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death.  Such evil must be purged from Israel”  (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT); allowing a witch or sorcerer or sorceress to live: “You should not let a sorceress live” (Exodus 22:17 NAB); tolerating a fortune-teller: “A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortune-teller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death  (Leviticus 20:27 NAB); hitting a parent: “Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death (Exodus 21:15 NAB), or cursing a parent: “If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness  (Proverbs 20:20 NAB) and: “All who curse their father or mother must be put to death.  They are guilty of a capital offense (Leviticus 20:9 NLT); committing adultery: “If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death (Leviticus 20:10 NLT) that is separate from having sex before marriage (fornication): “A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death  (Leviticus 21:9 NAB), or a woman is found not to be a virgin (no hymen) on her wedding night: “But if this charge is true, and evidence[a blood stained sheet or the torn tissue of the hymen] of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her father’s house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father’s house.  Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst (Deuteronomy  22:20-21 NAB).

The most grievous sins that merit the death penalty include not being Jewish: “Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed”  (Exodus 22:19 NAB) or reject the worship of the Jewish god(s): “They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.  (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB) that is proclaimed repeatedly, for example: “If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him.  Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you.  You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.  And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst  (Deuteronomy 13:7-12 NAB), and Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden.  When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death.  (Deuteronomy 17:2-5 NLT), with the proclamation that the entire town must be destroyed if only one person does not follow YHWH: “Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods.  In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully.  If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock.  Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it.  Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God.  That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt.  Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction.  Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you.  He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors.  “The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him  (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT).  What is most displeasing to the original Yah god who transmogrified into YHWH is anyone working in any manner to any degree for any reason on the Sabbath (Saturday), as even cows needed a day of rest unless they were milk cows:

The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses: ‘Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever.  It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.  Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy.  Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community.  Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest.  I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death (Exodus 31:12-15 NLT).

God was against children who teased, bullied, or taunted, and against the curious: “From there Elisha went up to Bethel.  While he was on his way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him.  “Go up baldhead,” they shouted, “go up baldhead!”  The prophet turned and saw them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord.  Then two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the children to pieces. (2 Kings 2:23-24 NAB).

“However, Elisha did save one boy–in a most unusual manner even for ancient Israel: “And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.” (2 Kings 4:34 KJV: וַיַּעַל וַיִּשְׁכַּב עַל־הַיֶּלֶד וַיָּשֶׂם פִּיו עַל־פִּיו וְעֵינָיו עַל־עֵינָיו וְכַפָּיו עַל־[כ כַּפֹּו] [ק כַּפָּיו] וַיִּגְהַר עָלָיו וַיָּחָם בְּשַׂר הַיָּלֶד). 

Killing men was no problem for god or warrior: “And he smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of Jehovah, he smote of the people seventy men, `and’ fifty thousand men; and the people mourned, because Jehovah had smitten the people with a great slaughter.  And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before Jehovah, this holy God? and to whom shall he go up from us?  (1 Samuel 6:19-20 ASV).

The Holocaust of the Jewish god extended even to first-born children—regardless if the first-born had just emerged from the uterus or was 100 years old: “And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.” (Exodus 12:29-30; in some versions “cattle” is presented as “beasts” that enshrines that no animal or fish was exempt from the wrath of the god(s))  It does not exclude non-human beings, as it reads “all the first-born” and that would include all firstborn cows and bulls, ducks, geese, crocodiles, snakes, and everything else including first seeded grains in the soil.

The god(s) of Abraham were at least equal-opportunity murderer(s), for the deity/deities even killed his/her/their own “creations in the most grotesque of ways: Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel…(1 Chronicles 21:12) made painfully clear two verses later: So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.  This is a perfect precedence for Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot and other criminals who had no respect for human life, as seen at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and Adam West’s military involvement.

The worst thing about this nefarious deranged god was the unbridled brittle racism, especially against Black people as Yahweh was a dedicated racist: And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with a host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots…”  “So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled”. (1 Chronicles 14:9, 12) . Like the Aryan nation, Ku Klux Klan and other certified hate groups in the USA, the god(s) of the Old Testament continued to find people to kill in increasingly more designer ways–not just by poisoning or using weapons.  The total count of Black people slaughtered was over 1 million, and this was used as a pretext to damn Black people in the writings of Origen (who wrote: Pharaoh easily reduced the Egyptian people to servitude, nor is it written that he did so by force. For the Egyptians are prone to a degenerate life and quickly sink to every slavery of the vices. Look at their origin: you will discover that their father Ham, who had laughed at his father’s nakedness, deserved a judgment of this kind, that his son Canaan should be a servant to his brothers, so that his condition of servitude would testify to the wickedness of his conduct. Not without reason, therefore, does the discolored posterity imitate the ignobility of the race. in Hom. in Genesim 16.1), Jerome (Εὐσέβιος Σωφρόνιος Ἱερώνυμος who rejected the “curse of Cain (נוּעַ meaning “fugitive” “wanderer”)”, Jerome rejected the curse since in the Great Flood only the descendants of Seth survived, in his Sermons on Number, 18.4.), and Augustine of Hippo (cf. Psalms 63:4,5; Augustine wrote that Cain gave the god [sic] of Genesis tangible goods but not his heart: De Civitate Dei, XV, vii) who declared that Ethiopians were devils because of the curse on Cain and the son of Ham (the name, in Hebrew, connotes “hot” and “dark”, and Joseph Smith Jr, the inventor of the Mormon cult and Book of Mormon uses it to define all the cursed people of Africa and their descendants who were slaves in the New World). It appears as a description of “Black magic” and worse, the link of sin to the “Prince of Darkness” (Ephesians 5:11, 6:12) who was given the name of Satanael. It is also the second to the last plague of Moses (Exodus 10:21 since everything dies without light—the ultimate Holocaust; cp. Ezekiel 12:12).

In the story of Ham and Japheth, the word “ham” has connotations of “hot” and “dark” in Semitic languages. To the ancient Israelites, as well as some modern Jews and Christians, the “children of Ham” had dark skin and lived in eastern Africa. Thus they see the “Curse of Ham” as a link with black skin and excessive sexual license.

One thing is certain: the god of the Old Testament was a sadist and cannibal: “But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such a one as goeth on still in his trespasses. The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea: That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.” (Psalm 68:21-23).  Far worse, what Christian Biblical scholars overlook or refuse to address is the reality that the gods of the Bible were mass murderers: “And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.” (1 Samuel 6:19)

As Muhammad would plagiarise for his Qur’an, the writers of the Old Testament declared that their gods demanded that all unbelievers were to be put to death: “And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God...” (Deuteronomy 13:5) or “seduced’ a believer to follow a false god, the penalty was the same: “If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers” (Deuteronomy 13:6) as there was to be no pity for those who did not believe what the priests and prophets taught: “Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.(Deuteronomy 13:8-9)

sparing none: “Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.”   (Deuteronomy 13:15).  Parents were ordered to even kill their own children if they did not follow the religion of their fathers, that many evangelical extremists in this world still practice read here and here and here and here, all in the name of god).

God delights in the killing of old men, young women, and children and infants, in a manner pleasing to the cruelest of guards at Nazi prisons: You are my battle-ax and sword,” says the LORD.  “With you I will shatter nations and destroy many kingdoms.  With you I will shatter armies, destroying the horse and rider, the chariot and charioteer.  With you I will shatter men and women, old people and children, young men and maidens.  With you I will shatter shepherds and flocks, farmers and oxen, captains and rulers.  “As you watch, I will repay Babylon and the people of Babylonia for all the wrong they have done to my people in Jerusalem,” says the LORD.  “Look, O mighty mountain, destroyer of the earth!  I am your enemy,” says the LORD.  “I will raise my fist against you, to roll you down from the heights.  When I am finished, you will be nothing but a heap of rubble.  You will be desolate forever.  Even your stones will never again be used for building.  You will be completely wiped out,” says the LORD”  (Jeremiah 51:20-26)Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD. Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that [sic: who] hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.” (Numbers 31:16-18, this adds up to approximately 100,000 young males and 68,000 young women being slaughtered).  “Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.” (1 Samuel 15:2-3)  This was the same fun and pleasure that the kinky King David rejoiced in: “And he brought forth the people that [sic: who] were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under the axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem” (2 Samuel 12:31) David did everything that Adolf Hitler did—and with greater cruelty, especially with the act of violence (rape) that the gods of the Old Testament and their Prophets delighted in and demanded for their enemies: “Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.” (Isaiah 13:15-16)

While the gods of the Old Testament never directly call for abortion, they make certain those fetuses of the damned, the unbeliever, and those who offend the tribal deities of Elohim die (See Numbers 5:26-27, 1 Samuel 15:2-3, and Psalm 137:9).  This was just a prelude to the slaughter of those delivered from the uterus: “And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain.” (Deuteronomy 2:34) “And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city. But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities we took for a prey to ourselves.” (Deuteronomy 3:6-7). Based on these words, Billy Graham (the original Elmer Gantry), among the most immoral men in the history of the USA, beside him, proclaimed the Gulf War as “moral” (read here and hereand here; Graham was so quick to earn an easy dollar that after

blasting Mormonism as a cult in 2005, Graham endorsed Willard Milton “Mitt” Romney for president of the USA knowing that Romney is a Mormon bishop, and promptly had his website scrubbed of adverse comments on Mormonism).  George Bush (the Second) continued in his father’s steps by killing over one million Iraqi civilians in the Iraqi war. Such moral wars result in thousands of “utterly destroyed” innocent men, women and children.; (For a few more examples [but not all] see also Deuteronomy 3:3, 7:2, 20:16-17, 25:19; Joshua 6:21. 8:26, 10:28-40; Numbers 31:17-18; 1 Samuel 15:3; Isaiah 13:16; and, Hosea 13:16) that Florida’s Adam West delights in: “And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and woman: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.” (Ezekiel 9:5-6, this being an example of cold-blooded premeditated capital murder common with Hitler’s attacks on the Jews and Israel’s attacks on the Palestinians).

According to the Book of Revelation (Apocalypse) (Revelation 7:3-4, 9:3-4, 14:1, 3-4) in the great future destruction of the planet billions of people will die. Only 144,000 virgin Jews (any sexual activity eliminates a person from swelling into the ranks of those saved and given a place in heaven) with a protective mark on their heads will survive.  This followed the enactment of utter destruction that is recorded in Joshua 6:21:”And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword,” but at same time, during the same siege, “all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord” (Joshua 6:19) to pay for a greater battle where twelve thousand, “the whole population” of Ai, were slaughtered. (Joshua 8:25).  It was but a reenactment of what the writers of Deuteronomy 12:2-3 recorded under heavenly command: “Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place,” that caused Albert Einstein to write:

“I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own– a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism.”

This same cruelty furnished the backdrop to the legend of Jesus washing the feet of his apostles (John 3:18).  Compare that tale with Psalms 58:10: “The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

As long as there is religion there is cruelty. As long as priests and Bibles exist there is war, violence, rape, and slaughter.  It continues to this day with Israel attacking Palestinians, murdering Palestinian doctors (many of whom served in Jerusalem clinics, care centers and hospitals (read here and here and here), teachers, families and visitors.  The German people knew what was happening, but preferred their personal freedom and space despite the actions of Hitler and his concentration camps they passed regularly.  The

As Israeli bombs fall on private homes, putting hundreds of people on the streets while more than 100 are murdered by the middle of November 2012, the West stands mute, unwilling to face its duplicity in this unlawful war. Nothing is done to help the original people of Palestine from which the State of Israel was created, and Palestinians are forced to carry their meager possessions from their destroyed homes on their backs.

Only then will Israel be calm for forty years.”  Ultra-orthodox Jews have for a long been known to advocate Holocaust against its enemies citing the Torah

and Prophets to enhance their hatred and bigotry that far outweighs the words of Adolf Hitler.  The Allied Forces leagued together to erase NAZI Germany and rid the earth of Adolf Hitler.  It is time, again, that the Allied Forces league together to erase Israel and rid the earth of Netanyahu and Yishai. German Holocaust and Israeli Holocaust are both wrong and a crime against humanity, regardlesss if it is in the Germany of Hitler or in Israel under Netanyahu and Yishai and the Shash Party for both appeal to the Old Testament and the Old Testament is raw with spilled blood and the carnage of war and slaughter.  Like Hitler, the Israeli forces invaded sovereign territory and like Hitler and his NAZI forces, Israel occupied the territory and wrongfully declared it belonged to them and their descendants. The sole difference was that the Sudetenland was among the most pro-NAZI regions, where as the Occupied territories did not welcome nor want Israelis on its once-free lands (Zimmermann Volker:  Die Sudetendeutschen im NS-Staat. Politik und Stimmung der Bevölkerung im Reichsgau Sudetenland (1938-1945). Essen, 1999). Germany had planned ethnic cleansing before the war, in the same way that Israel now looks towards the Occupied Territories as land for Israeli homes.  Holocausts are the result of attempting to destroy within the fantasy of a “just war”–one that has never existed when the scepter of religion and authoritarianism is elevated as the primary cause and citations are made from holy books that hide the monstrosity of mortal actions against human beings (Ide, Arthur Frederick (2004). Providence Road Baptist Church Maiden, NC and Nazi Germany

Stacey Pritchard is typical of the congregation located at 3283 Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, Catawba County (where 50% of the graduating class noted a growing problem of bullying, with much of it stemming from churches), North Carolina 28650: full of hate, a Biblical illiterate who reads neither Greek nor Hebrew, and has no training in exegetical Biblical studies or the Bible, and as undereducated as Pastor Charles Worley. Worley has a great challenge and unusual difficulty: he cannot use the English language with any finesse, not realizing that “queers” and “homosexuals” and “lesbians” are not three separate groups.

Stacey Pritchard, however, is identical to the women supporters of Adolf Hitler two generations earlier.  She wants those who disagree with her selective and false reading of her Bible to be put in Concentration Camps  and exterminated.

This fulfills Adolf Hitler’s original schema, and was joyfully carried out by Stacey Pritchard’s alter ego Jeffrey Shook  whose hatred is greater than that of Josef Goebbels who established Sachsenhausen Death Camp.  With a religious fervor, Goebbels used religion to placate the condemned.

As he stated, in a spirit of Christian charity, he had the slogan over its front gates bearing the infamous slogan Arbeit Macht Frei [Work makes you free].  There Goebbels had  large groups  of homosexuals, wearing pink triangles, shot to death in trenches that they created  moments before their execution(Bill Niven (2002).  Facing the Nazi Past, London, UK: Routledge, 1st ed., p. 11).

Pastor Charles Worley’s first goal was identical to the Nazis: to build a “big electric fence…100 to 150 miles long” (that is applauded by numerous Bible-thumping bigots) that would exceed anything that Hitler had dreamed of, and behind this electronic fence he would put all “lesbians…queers and homosexuals.”  Worley’s withering wintered goal was to see if any would breed and if not let them “die off within a few years.”

Worley’s continuing homophobia and calls for genocide demonstrates clearly that the pastor has mental problems and is bordering on insanity (Hollows, Kerrilee and Fritzon, Katarina (2012). “Ordinary Men” or “Evil Monsters”?: An Action System Model of Genocidal Actions and Characteristics of Perpetrtors.” Law and Human Behavior, February 20; doi: 10.1037/h0093987; cp. Stacey Pritchard spits sentences in the same manner as Irma Ida Ilsa Grese, and like Irma Grese, Elisabeth Volkenrath, and Juana Bormann, would be among the first to volunteer to kill lesbians as an aufseherinnen. Volkenrath, after the war ended and Hitler lay dead (a suicide), was convicted of numerous murders and made selections for the gas chamber; she was described as the most hated woman in the camp.  Juana Borman was known as “the woman with the dogs” and took sadistic pleasure in setting her wolfhounds on prisoners to tear them to pieces and has had numerous counterparts among female USA and UK military at Abu Gharib prison in Iraq.  Grese, known as “the beautiful beast” and as Die Hyäne von Auschwitz (the Hyaena of Auschwitz) was the most merciless (at age 19, she found herself a supervisor at Ravensbrück which was used as a training camp for many female SS guards, just at the time the Nazi anti-Jewish programmes were at their height in July 1942; she was executed at the age of 23), and in many ways was identical to Maiden, North Carolinan Stacey Pritchard in her lust for shedding the blood of lesbians.

Of the 55,000 guards who served in Nazi concentration camps, about 3,700 were women, and all were confirmed Bible-believing Christians who recited verses justifying their atrocities, stripping Jewish women naked before shooting the victims in the head, with Irma (who had been the subject of repeated bullying as a youth and had lost all interest in fitting in but sought revenge) being the most heartless and violent of all.  While Irma’s religion cannot be determined with precision, as she was a member of the Protestant (Evangelical) Church of Nazi Germany that included Adventists, Baptists, and Lutherans, her actions reflect most of the bile of Martin Luther who wrote Von den Juden und Ihren Lügen *(On the Jews and their Lies) who was influenced by the antisemitism of  Anton Margaritha’s book Der gantze Jüdisch Glaub (The Whole Jewish Belief), for which she won the title of queen of sadism

The greatest tragedy for Maiden, North Carolina is that Charles Worley still lives. Today, however, many are praying for his death, as few see him as anything but the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler.  They are correct.  Charles Worley and Adolf Hitler are identical.  Worley and Hitler each enjoyed one common: to rid the water planet Earth, of those whom they considered inferior or “filled with sin.” Both prayed for the death of the nameless neither knew or cared to know.

Both Worley and Hitler hate(d) marginalized groups. Both Worley and Hitler determined on a “final solution”.  Worley wants concentration camps with high-voltage high electric fences.  Hitler built concentration camps with high-voltage high electric fences.  Both Worley and Hitler dreamed of damning homosexuals to their concentration camps.  Worley’s dreams remain unrealized, but Hitler carried his out giving Worley great spiritual satisfaction.

Worley demanded that those who did not breed should die.  Hitler saw that his imaginary foes, the Jews, died painful deaths that Worley rejoiced in his pulpit awaited for “lesbians … queers and homosexuals”. 

Both Charles Worley of Maiden, North Carolina, and the Austrian-born Adolf Hitler of Berlin, Germany, had women who stood behind.  Their women who lacked even modest intelligence concurred to the misery that each miscreant belched in speech and prayer:  the bountiful brainless bouvine Stacey Pritchard of Maiden, North Carolina stood squarely behind Charles Worley and his parched preachifications of doom and the rabid radicalism of the Southern Baptist Convention that has nothing in common with the teaching of Jesus of the New Testament but focuses on the corruption in the Old Testament and the self-proclaimed apostle Saul of Tarsus and his coterie who crafted hate-filled gospels that Constantine I allowed to survive his holocaust of books and dissenters in 330 CE.  The “Beautiful Beast”, Irma Grese defended Adolf Hitler and the SS (Waffen Schutzstaffel: Heinrich Himmler’s “Protective Squadron”) in the same manner as Stacey Pritchard on par with Worley’s congregation.   For “the cause” and her god, Grese killed with whip and chain, gun and poison those who did not measure up to her rigorous religious ideals.

Worley declared he would not vote for a socialist or liberal.  Worley refused to vote for a Black in 2008, as he found that an offense against his god who allegedly marked Black people with the Curse of Cain/Ham/Canaan his grandson; Hitler executed socialists, communists, and liberals.  Adolf Hitler, like Charles Worley, hated Black people passionately, but allowed Black people (who he considered “half-apes” according to his autobiography Mein Kampf) to live and work for the “Fatherland”.  Both defended their racism and hatred based on the Pauline messages in Romans and Corinthians, and neither had studied ancient Greek nor read the original scrolls.

Israeli terrorist Rabbi Ovadia Yosef

According to the 90-year-old racist Rabbi Ovadia Yosef (born Abdullah Youssef (Hebrew: עובדיה יוסף) on September 23 1920, Basra, Iraq and now living in Jerusalem is a Mizrahi Haredi rabbi), the head of Shas’ Council of Torah Sages and a senior Sephardi adjudicator, the sole purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews.  He argues for slavery, and continues the ancient and absurd idea that there is a “special race” and a “chosen people” (or the Tanakh) and then does not appear until Deuteronomy 7:6–mythologies that have been current since the beginning of time by every people on this water planet who claim a personal relationship with various gods (the Hebrew “god” is actually both singular and plural: אֱלהִים and is pronounced as elohim, both as a verb and an adjective; the early Israelites were not monotheistic (this does not appear until “Moses”–and even then it was not a truly monotheistic ontology).

Yosef, in keeping with the absurdity and strained mistranslations and erroneous interpretations of the Torah, common among the Ultra-Orthodox cult that argues that it is a part the Jewish faith, declares that the “Jewish people” are somehow unique.  Following fantasies centuries old, Yosef chimes that Jews were created and commissioned by some deity to reign supreme over others, ignoring the reality that the Habiru/Apiru/Hebrews were mercenaries in Assyrian armies.  In this Yosef follows Akkadian and Hittite fantasies, plagiarizing their theologies to support his own terrorism and goals

of enslave non-Jews.  Yosef’s sermon on Gentiles serving no purpose but to labor for Jews matches Luther’s Von den Jüden und jren Lügen.  In Luther’s Von den Jüden und jren Lügen, the mentally sterlized protestant of what would become East Germany wrote that the Jews were a “base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth”.  The future leader of religious witch hunts in Wittenberg wrote that the Jews are “full of the devil’s feces … which they wallow in like swine” (Luther, Martin.  Werke. Erlangen 1854, 32:282, 298, 4:286 and 5:406).  In Luther’s eyes, and his thoughts quickly flooding pages with withering attacks on the Jews, claimed that the Jewish houses of worship, known as synagogues are an “incorrigible whore and an evil slut”.  From 1520 CE onward, Luther urged the German nobles to act, as he did in his An den christlichen Adel deutscher Nation. Months later in 1543, Martin Luther in another fit of anti-Semiticism wrote Vom Schem Hamphoras  und vom Geschlecht Christi (Of the Unknowable Name and the Generations of Christ)’, in which he equated Jews with the mythological Devil:

“Here in Wittenburg, in our parish church, there is a sow carved into the stone under which lie young pigs and Jews who are sucking; behind the sow stands a rabbi who is lifting up the right leg of the sow, raises behind the sow, bows down and looks with great effort into the Talmud under the sow, as if he wanted to read and see something most difficult and exceptional; no doubt they gained their Shem Hamphoras from that place.”

According to the online magazine, Jewish World, The theological terrorist declared, “gentiles” exist only to “serve” them being less fit and less worthy than an Orthodox Jew.  The full text of the rabbi’s sermon reads:

“Goyim [non-Jews/Gentiles] were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Israel,” he said in his weekly Saturday night sermon on the laws regarding the actions non-Jews are permitted to perform on Shabbat.

According to Yosef, the lives of non-Jews in Israel are safeguarded by divinity, to prevent losses to Jews:

“In Israel, death has no dominion over them… With gentiles, it will be like any person – they need to die, but [God] will give them longevity. Why? Imagine that one’s donkey would die, they’d lose their money. [cp. Martin Luther’s comparison in Werk 53:489].

This is his servant… That’s why he gets a long life, to work well for this Jew,” Yosef said. [cp. Hitler, Adolf. Mein Kampf, vol. 1, chap. 11)

courts of dynastic pharaohs; it is also found in Persia culture as آفندی but is a corruption of the ancient Greek αὐθέντης that primarily means “murderer, perpetrator”, and connotes a person who will feed off another until the person doing the labor becomes worthless; this is the foundation of Adolf Hitler’s pogrom.  Yosef is telling Ultra-Orthodox that if they initiate the same tactics as Hitler did on the Jewish communities in Europe it would be the judgment of his god “for the enrichment of the Jews”.  There were no historical Jews, however, until after Deuteronomy 5:1-3.  Prior to that time the people of Abraham were known as Israelites] and eat.

That is why gentiles were created,” he added. [Gentile is not a Hebrew word; the closest that comes to it is goy גוי ) for “people”.  The word does not appear in the world’s lexicons until after 325 CE, when the Emperor Constantine establish his catholic {universal} church. It appears as ἔθνη (éthnē) in the New Testament (Acts 10:34-47) and that reflects ethenicity: or “nations”.  Yosef’s linguistic fluency is submarginal in this area, and as a philologist and linguist I would not rank this rabbi above the second grade primary.] 

Yosef is openly launching a cultural war against all who are not Ultra-Orthodox Jews and he has sought to gain equality or even superiority for Sephardi religious interpretations at the expense of what little democracy exists in Israel, claiming to be a “spiritual descendent” of Moses ben Maimon (Maimonides, 1135-1204) (Encyclopaedia Judaica,  vol. 2, pp. 600-604).  A misogynist and gynephobic xenophobic mortal will illusions of grandeur, Yosef’s unflattering remarks about Palestinians and Arabs, as well as statements that those killed in the Holocaust were atoning for sins from previous lives, have set off public outcries of rage, but brought favorable nods and gifts from those he favors (see Ma’ariv, March 19, 2000, Yedioth  Ahranoth, March 19, 2000, Ha’aretz , March 28, 2000 and Jerusalem Report).  

In February 1999, Rabbi Yosef declared that the justices of Israel’s Supreme Court were bo`alei nidot (literally: “they are all [men who] have intercourse with menstruating women” that is forbidden in the Torah (Cited in Ma’ariv, March 19, 2000).  Yosef has heaped scorn on secular women who “do not practice [ritual] purification” and therefore give birth to “sons born of uncleanness.”  In 1997, the rabbi came out more strongly against females, and sermonized that “A man must not walk between two women or between two asses or between two camels. Why? Because women aren’t concerned with the Torah and whoever walks near them will be like them” a statement that led some hostile opponents to argue that he was a closeted homosexual.  The secular public was outraged not at those who suggested that he was most likely homosexual, but that he was casting aspersions on women (Cited in Jerusalem Report). In 2009, Yosef, during his weekly sermon, lashed out against ‘stupid women who come to Western Wall, don a prayer shawl, and pray‘ even though the High Court of Israel ruled that women have the same rights as men, leading Yosef to attack the high court again.  Yosef claims that women want equality–but that is not the goal of heaven; more in keeping with Islam, Yosef sees women as mindless, clueless, and stupid, in constant need of male supervision and being kept in the house.

Women seeking to pray and to call on their god for help and to be moved in spirit as they were deep in private prayer and worship at the Western Wall were condemned by the Rabbi of the Wall as inciting a provocation, disabling men from concentrating on their prayers.

Yosef’s ramblings reel of the wretched in ancient Magog–an Asian wilderness from which the Habiru (Hebrews) came in their passage through India and ultimately to illegally invade Palestine and steal the lands of Canaan that were ruled by a matriarch giving cause for priests to elevate patriarchy by marrying their tribal agricultural god YHWH to the Canaanite Venus known as Asherah. Yosef’s knowledge of Torah, the Hebrew Bible and history is appallingly minimal.

Martin Luther had similar sentiments to Yosef. Yosef may easily have read this treatise as Yosef’s message parrots that of Luther.

Shortly before his death on February 18, 1546 Luther preached four sermons in Eisleben.  In his second to last sermon the former Augustinian monk appended, while comforted by his one-time Roman Catholic nun wife Katherine von Bora,what he called his “final warning” against the Jews.  Like Yosef, Martin Luther told the German  authorities that they could expel the Jews from their lands should do so if they would not convert to Christianity.  Those who refused to convert to Christianity, and by nature work for Christians, Luther warned that authorities who tolerated Jews made themselves “partners in another’s sins” (Weimar Ausgabe 51:194-196; J.G. Walch, Dr. Martin Luthers Sämmtliche Schriften, 23 vols. (St. Louis, MO, USA: Concordia, 1883), 3:350 and 371, 12:1264-1267).  As Luther roared from the pulpit:

They are our public enemies. They do not stop blaspheming our Lord Christ, calling the Virgin Mary a whore, Christ, a bastard, and us changelings or “meal calves” (Mahlkälber). If they could kill us all, they would gladly do it. They do it often, especially those who pose as physcians—though sometimes they help—for the devil helps to finish it in the end. They can also practice medicine as in French Switzerland. They administer poison to someone from which he could die in an hour, a month, a year, ten or twenty years. They are able to practice this art.

The Saxon Luther’s words inspired the German nobles to act, swiftly.  In 1543 Luther’s champion and Prince, John Frederick I, Elector of Saxony, revoked some of the concessions he gave to Josel of Rosheim in 1539.  Johann of Küstrin, Margrave of Neumark, repealed the safe-conduct of Jews in his territories. Philip of Hesse added restrictions to his Order Concerning the Jews, while the public began to shun the Jews and curse them when near them.  By 1580, German cities and states began to expel the Jews, or arrest and have

them publicly executed before jubilant crowds.  In 1614 Vincent Fettmilch, who called himself the “new Haman of the Jews”, leads a raid on Frankfurt synagogue that turned into an attack which destroyed the whole community. In 1619, riots in Frankfurt saw the deaths of 3,000 Jews and the expulsion of the rest, as princes and margraves and other rulers declared that the sole reason for the existence of the Jews was to work for Gentiles (Lutherans and Calvinists).  The intolerance of Martin Luther and his Germans match identically the intolerance of Israel’s chief terrorist Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

Luther’s intolerance of the Jews budded a second time in the twentieth century when Germans from 1930 to 1945 began to reissue Luther’s hate propaganda, and write new tracts against the Jews, using the same words, the same phrases as Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.  In nearly ever case, the new anti-Semitic pamphlets justified their publication and distribution by referring to Martin Luther–a stranglehold on religion that bore bitter fruit in the USA with the establishment of the hate-filled Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) that believes creation is a historical event as detailed in the Bible, that women have no power or authority in the church, and that the Bible is the only source of knowing god, and included Martin Luther’s attack on the papacy as “the great whore”.  In 1914, the leaders of the German (Lutheran) clergy wrote a bloodthirsty pamphlet which they entitled: “To the evangelical Christians abroad” urging everyone to work to eradicate the “Jewish problem”.  While most Protestants rejected the letter, WELS did not.

Martin Luther was extremely disgusted with and vilified the Jews, as he wrote in his tract Von den Jüden und jren Lügen:

He did not call them Abraham’s children, but a “brood of vipers” [Matthew 3:7]. Oh, that was too insulting for the noble blood and race of Israel, and they declared, “He has a demon’ [Matthew 11:18]. Our Lord also calls them a “brood of vipers”; furthermore in John 8 [:39,44] he states: “If you were Abraham’s children ye would do what Abraham did…. You are of your father the devil. It was intolerable to them to hear that they were not Abraham’s but the devil’s children, nor can they bear to hear this today.

The idea that Jesus of the New Testament was a man of peace is as untrue (cf. Matthew 10:34) as the claim that he loved all people.  Luther matched this schizophrenia in his writings, equaling the vitriol of Yosef when he commented on the Jews:

“Learn from this, dear Christian, what you are doing if you permit the blind Jews to mislead you. Then the saying will truly apply, “When a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into the pit” [cf. Luke 6:39]. You cannot learn anything from them except how to misunderstand the divine commandments…” 

A further demonstration that Luther had no love for Jews can be found in his commentaries.  He wrote, giving Christians advice contemporary with the time: “The Jews deserve to be hanged on gallows seven times higher than ordinary thieves” (W53, 502).

Luther’s 1543 pamphlet On the Jews and Their Lies was a “blueprint” for the Kristallnacht (MacCulloch, Diarmaid (2004). Reformation: Europe’s House Divided, 1490-1700. New York, NY, USA: Penguin Books Ltd, pp. 666-667), as Yosef’s sermons are the plan to enslave Gentiles as the Orthodox rabbis of New York City have denied women equal rights on bus B110.  Bishop Martin Sasse, a leading Protestant churchman, published a compendium of Martin Luther’s writings, and urged the German people to salute Hitler and vow allegiance, while warning the German people that they ought to heed these words “of the greatest anti-Semite of his time, the warner of his people against the Jews”: Martin Luther (Bernd Nellessen, “Die schweigende Kirche: Katholiken und  Judenverfolgung,” in Büttner, Ursula (ed), Die Deutschen und die Judenverfolgung im Dritten Reich, Hamburg : Christians, c1992, p. 265). Much of the problem is centered on Luther’s obsessive reliance on the writings of “St. Paul” (whom I will discuss later).

Adolf Hitler followed Martin Luther rigorously, rigidly, and religiously as the source for his pogroms and murder of Jews. Nearly four hundred years after Luther’s Von den Jüden und jren  Lügen was written, the National Socialists (NAZIs, it is an acronym for Nationalsozialist, and found currency in Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf vol. 2 as the name for his political party: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP) – the National Socialist German Workers’ Party of Adolf Hitler; it is not a word) displayed On the Jews and Their Lies during Nuremberg rallies, and the city of Nuremberg presented a first edition to Julius Streicher, editor of the Nazi newspaper Der Stürmer.  Streicher, in the newspaper described Von den Jüden und jren Lügen as the most radically antisemitic tract ever published and hailed it as a blueprint for god’s destruction of the Jews by the hand of Hitler (Ellis, Marc H. (2004). “Hitler and the Holocaust, Christian Anti-Semitism”, Baylor University Center for American and Jewish Studies, Spring, slide 14; cp. Nuremberg Trial Proceedings, Vol. 12, p. 318, Avalon Project, Yale Law School, April 19, 1946).  Luther is credited with “Germanizing the Christian critique of Judaism and establishing anti-Semitism as a key element of German culture and national identity” (Berger, Ronald (2002). Fathoming the Holocaust: A Social Problems Approach.  New York, NY, USA: Aldine De Gruyter, p. 28).  American historian Lucy Dawidowicz, in her The War Against the Jews, 1933-1945, writes that both Luther and Hitler were obsessed by the “demonologized universe” inhabited by Jews, with Hitler asserting that the later Luther, the author of On the Jews and Their Lies was the real Luther and most documents justify this conclusion (Dawidowicz, Lucy S. (1986). The War Against the Jews, 1933-1945. First published 1975: New York, NY, USA : Holt, Rinehart and Winston; this Bantam edition 1986: Toronto, ONT, Can. and New York, NY, USA: Bantam Books, p.23).  Adolf Hitler, in his autobiography Mein Kampf (vol. 1, chap 8), Hitler referred to Martin Luther as a great warrior, a true statesmen, and a great reformer, alongside Richard Wagner and Frederick the Great.  Hitler wrote:

Among them must be counted the great warriors in this world who, though not understood by the present, are nevertheless prepared to carry the fight for their ideas and ideals to their end. They are the men who some day will be closest to the heart of the people; it almost seems as though every individual feels the duty of compensating in the past for the sins which the present once committed against the great. Their life and work are followed with admiring gratitude and emotion, and especially in days of gloom they have the power to raise up broken hearts and despairing souls. To them belong, not only the truly great statesmen, but all other great reformers as well. Beside Frederick the Great stands Martin Luther as well as Richard Wagner.

Hitler was convinced that he was a great Christian, doing the work of The Lord.  Hitler was convinced that he would receive the blessings of both god and Luther, and in the end convert all Jews to Jesus.  He followed, religiously, Immanuel Kant’s Philosophy of Law: “The supreme Power in the State has only rights and no duties towards the subject” (p. 175), and that of Hegel who penned: “The State is the march of God in the world” (Hegel, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich (1821). The State is the divine idea as it exists on earth” (Hegel, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich. Vorlesungen über die Philosophie der Geschichte , Philosophy of History, English translation published New York, NY, USA: The Colonial Press [c1899], p. 41).

When the Jews did not convert, but “took advantage” of Gentiles through their commercial dealings, Luther, like Hitler, turned sharply against them (Noble, Graham (2002). “Martin Luther and German anti-Semitism,” History Review No. 42:1-2), as Yosef has against Gentiles in 2011.  Although Luther only wrote a small number of pamphlets and sermons against the Jews, he was consumed with their existence throughout his lifetime, and never spared time to lecture the authorities on sparing Jews: their lives, their properties, their labors–which he firmly believed belonged to Gentiles (Stöhr, Martin. “Die Juden und Martin Luther,” in Kremers, Heinz et al. (eds.) Die Juden und Martin Luther, Martin Luther und die Juden : Geschichte, Wirkungsgeschichte, Herausforderung ; Martin Luther und die Juden. Neukirchen Vluyn, Germany: Neukirchener publishing house, 1985, 1987 (second edition). p. 90; cp. Kaennel, Lucie (1997). Luther était-il antisémite?  Entrée Libre N° 38. Geneva, Switzerland: Labor et Fides), yet another similarity to Israeli terrorist Yosef.

Ovadia Yosef’s numerous sermons saturated with senseless diatribes against Gentiles/Non-Jews, atheists and agnostics are the ramblings of a demented mind that borders on insanity.  Yosef, like the members of Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas, has gone so far as to proclaim that “unbelieving soldiers die” (which has been condemned by other Jewish leaders) while implying that faith will protect believers:

“Is it any wonder if, heaven forbid, soldiers are killed in a war?” he said, “when they don’t observe the Sabbath, they don’t observe the Torah, they don’t pray every day, they don’t put on phylacteries every day. Is it any wonder that they’re killed? It’s no wonder.”

Yosef also called Hurricane Katrina “God’s retribution” against President Bush for supporting Israel’s withdrawal of settlers from Gaza.

He has decried health care in favor of prayer, declared that all Palestinians must die (read also here), and has blasted any tolerance of diversity, with his remarks condemned by numerous governments including the Department of State of the USA.

Yosef has banned the internet from Orthodox Jewish homes, declaring it to be 1000 times more dangerous than television to the faith.  The newspaper Degel  Hatorah, one of the strictest of the religious parties in Israel, said the internet was “the world’s leading cause of temptation, it incites and encourages sin and abomination of the worst kind”.

Yosef finds little to no good in people or life on this planet, but wants to purify it with prayer and prosecution of “sin.”  He told the electorate that they would go to the Garden of Eden (which is in Iraq where he was born) if they vote for his party, or to hell if they do not or if they participate in a Gay Pride Parade.  His garden is a center for war, and he sees no evil in bombing the homes of civilians or the military slaughter of children.

His son, another rabbi, is even further out of touch with reality and contemporary civilization.  Chief Rabbi of Holon and son of Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Abraham Yosef, issued a ruling forbidding women from working as teachers to children over the age of 9.  He claimed that it is “completely forbidden” according to Jewish law.  There is no biblical passage in the Torah or Tankah that forbids it.  It is, however, one of the first laws passed by Nazi Germany when Hitler came to power in 1933.  Female enrollment in secondary schools dropped from 437,000 in 1926 to 205,000 in 1937 (Pauley, Bruce F. Wheeling, IL, USA: Harlan Davidson Inc. p. 119). All subjects from gymnastics to history revolved around, glorified, and were exclusively for men (Gies, Horst (1989). All “undesireable teachers”, not just females, but also Jewish males, were expelled from their profession under the law Gesetz zur Wiederherstellung des Berufbeamtentums (Hansen, Heinrich and von Leers, Dr. Johannes (1939). Women had no more rights during the Third Reich than under the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish rabbis, as seen in the plight of the Orthodox Jewish women in New York City where they are forced to ride at the back of the bus.  In this the father and son Yosef are joined by past figures harboring hard hatred towards women and all who disagree with them, such as the mad monk Martin Luther of Wittenberg, and the one-time Augustinian priest’s spiritual son: Adolf Hitler and to the religious theocrats who followed him, leading to a rise in the Ultra-Orthodox movement as well as the New Apostolic Reformation.  Those who had no desire to think for themselves, but blindly followed what a few claimed to be the will and word of god, they accepted, and new totalitarian movements grew and prospered worldwide: from the Orthodox control of women’s movement and relegating them to the back of the B110 bus in New York City, to the Tea Party’s endorsement of NOM and movement to limit freedom throughout the USA, to the radicalization of liberty in Israel where ten percent of its people have been denied basic human rights.

Marriage = 1 man + 1 woman: what the Bible says

Many contemporary evangelists, such as Keith Ratliff Sr of Des Moines, Iowa, a Black Southern Baptist preacher who extols hatred at the Maple Street Missionary Baptist Church, when denouncing the Iowa Supreme Court that stood up for human rights, claiming that the Iowa Supreme Court cannot “overturn the laws of [his] god” by allowing basic civil  rights to all people of Iowa while supporting slavery and forced labor in foreign nations, declaring that he speaks for god and uses a bible that is a poor translation of original documents.  Not only does Ratliff misuse the actual statements in the bible in its original sense (he has never had a professional course in translation and interpretation, nor wants one) but he claims that his particular version of scripture is sacred and not to be questioned, making him not only controversial but ludicrous as he has no concept of what he is talking about but does grandstand to an adorning and illiterate congregation. Ratliff is the president of the Iowa-Nebraska chapter of the NAACP, and goes against the official NAACP stand for the rights of all people, declaring that there is “no parallel” between the civil rights movement of the 1960s and the gay rights movement of the twenty-first century  (see:, and rapid preachers such as

who have never studied the original scriptures in scroll or redactions claim that marriage is between one man and one woman.  In most cases, televangelists argue that marriage is where a woman submits to a man as if he were her “lord and master”—an absurdity found frequently among early Protestant leaders such as Martin Luther of eastern Germany and Jean Calvin of Geneva (Switzerland). What [(ὃ)] is not “those” (Οι meaning αυτές) and is a translation error. That is not what any ancient document defines marriage as being: a submission of one to another, but rather a united workforce of two (or more) people.  The full text comes from Matthew 19:4: but this is not about marriage, but about divorce, and the text is not a reference to individuals but to a unity of purpose and work, for the word that is used is “enjoined” or “cleaved” that means “knit together” (or “glued”) as if it were one (ο δε αποκριθεις ειπεν αυτοις ουκ ανεγνωτε οτι ο ποιησας απ αρχης αρσεν και θηλυ εποιησεν αυτους και ειπεν ενεκεν τουτου καταλειψει ανθρωπος τον πατερα [αυτου] και την μητερα και προσκολληθησεται τη γυναικι αυτου και εσονται οι δυο εις σαρκα μιαν).  There is no gender reference in this line.  It is copied from Mark 10:9 and was adapted to Romans 7:1-3. 

Exegetical writers argue that the aorist tense (denoting the occurrence of an event at some past time, considered as a momentary act) seems to refer to the original ordinance of God at the creation—but this does not exist. Matthew 19:4-5 is strengthened by the word Συνεζευξεν, which translates as “yoked together,” in the same was as oxen are yoke together at the plough, where each must pull equally, in order to bring the plough through the field and ultimately benefit from their labor. This is a very ancient symbolism and found in all Abrahamic communities, where their people who were newly married, put a yoke upon their necks, or chains upon their arms, to show that they were to be one, closely united, and pulling equally together in all the concerns of life.

The ancient custom of putting on a yoke in the Middle East was generated by practical needs: the understanding that unless the two worked together the two would not eat, as the symbolism is quite different from the ancient Greek theology as defined in the marriage of Cupid and Psyche.  In this far older religious perspective, Cupid (not a baby nor a boy but a robust man) wed Psyche and the two became “one flesh”—a term that later Hapiru moving from India into the Canaanite valley would adopt.  This changed only slightly with time, as can be seen in the interpretations of the translation from the Greek into the Syriac, Arabic, Persic, and Ethiopic versions that read, “one body”: with the subjection of the “weaker vessel” that is given the title “wife” (it had nothing to do with gender” is to be beloved by the husband (the stronger vessel) as his own body, as himself, as his own flesh, which appears in paraphrasing in the Pauline Letter to the Ephesians 5:28. The idea, in its earliest days did not include a contract for “eternity” but while the union was mutually beneficial.  The ancient Egyptians defined that as being a contract for “marriage” (mutual help) understood as a social institution that culminated in the legal or religious ceremony that formalizes the decision of two people (gender not specified) to live as a married couple and work for each other, protect each other, love each other, nurture each other and be supportive of each other.

What the various writers of the Gospels and Epistles ignored (or were expunged of in the various redactions of the scriptures, especially during the era 440 – 1120 CE) was that the objection, allegedly posed by the Jesus of the New Testament, is to the indifference of married couples where Moses allowed the husband to give his wife a letter of divorce is found in Deuteronomy 24:1.  By the time that the Book of Deuteronomy is written and with its various redactions put into place, the two partners become gender specific, so that if a man (the stronger of the two) marries a woman (the weaker of the two) who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, he is allowed to write her a certificate of divorce, give it to her and send her from his house (as property was the prerogative and right of the stronger of the two in a union, and women lost, over time, their rights in a “marriage” (cp. Matthew 5:31 but that is allowed only in case of infidelity because the wife will seek sex elsewhere and that was considered, wrongly, as adultery, and the individual having sex with the one divorced is considered guilty as well to the charge of adultery: the key is in verse 32: εγω δε λεγω υμιν οτι ος αν απολυση την  γυναικα αυτου παρεκτος λογου πορνειας ποιει αυτην μοιχασθαι και ος  εαν απολελυμενην γαμηση μοιχαται that is taken from Jeremiah 3:9 and reflects Babylonian law; it is definitely not new with the Jesus of the New Testament (cf. Matthew 19:8 where Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning”).  The Matthew account is directly copied from the Marcian account (Mark 10:11 which matches the Babylonian directive. It must be remembered that the Gospel of Mark is the source for the other synoptic gospels—not Matthew and this is best seen in the misuse of the word “wife.”

Wife, originally, meant “helpmeet” [a person suitable to help a lord or leader, and was used in the original King James Version of the Bible; in the original Genesis 2:18, it means “suitable” and usually came after investigation, interview, dialogue, and terms of the employment or living agreed upon] or “helpmate” [a companion, from the Hebrew ‘ezer keneghdo’ [וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים לֹא־טֹוב הֱיֹות הָאָדָם לְבַדֹּו אֶעֱשֶׂהּ־לֹּו עֵזֶר כְּנֶגְדֹּו׃] it does not become one unified word until 1673].  Wife did not mean a woman married to a man until shortly before 900 CE, and then it is an evolutionary word that comes from the Old English wif  “woman,” from Proto-Germanic *wiban  (cf. Old Saxon and Old Frisian wif , Old Norse vif , Danish and Swedish viv , Middle Dutch and Dutch wijf , Old High German wib , and German Weib ), of uncertain origin. Some proposed Proto-Indo-European (hereafter cited as PIE) roots include *weip–  “to twist, turn, wrap,” perhaps with sense of “veiled person” [which various religions in the subcontinent and Middle East will adopt when they turn to “covering the wife” with a Burqa] (see vibrate: Latin vibratus,  past participle of vibrare meaning to “move quickly to and fro, shake,” which was expected from a helper to show that the individual was working’ from PIE *w(e)ib–  “move quickly to and fro” (cf. Lithuanian wyburiu  “to wag” (the tail) as a helper was expected to move quickly and the labor would require that the entire body was not resting, thus bending over, or swaying when harvesting, planting, and so forth was required and later used to “wag the tongue” (to speak quickly in defense of the house, to correct a disobedient child, or to speak out against a wrongful act), as it appear in the Danish vippe, Dutch wippen  “to swing,” that originate out of the Old English wipan meaning “to wipe” as the drying of a dish, cleaning of a table, and so forth; or *ghwibh– , a proposed root meaning “shame,” also “pudenda,” but the only examples of it are wife  and Tocharian (a lost Indo-European language of central Asia) kwipe, kip  “female pudenda.” The modern sense of “female spouse” that began as a specialized sense in Old English was transmogrified into the current the general sense of “woman” and can be seen in the preservation of such words as midwife, old wives’ tale, etc.  The Middle English sense of “mistress of a household” survives in housewife and it gave the house tender control over supplies, ordering victuals, disciplining servants and churls, and so forth.  It was later restricted in the sense or terminology of “tradeswoman of humble rank” as in fishwife. This is seen in the Dutch Wijf.  All became subject, in time, to the control of a male as patriarchy became increasingly more dominant and the fertility mother (alma mater) and her statues (such as the Venus of Willendorf; 24,000 – 22,000 BCE; cf. Art Section) disappeared to be replaced by patriarch and masculine representations when displaced males (such as the ancient Hapiru invaded, conquered, and destroyed the more advanced civilizations such as Canaan and demoted their goddesses (Asherah, for example) to raise up their totems of male dominance, or transmogrified female deities into male deities, as seen in the Yah from ancient Egypt).

It is claimed, in error, that the ordinance of marriage was sanctioned in Paradise (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6). It is also stated by evangelicals that monogamy was the original law under which man lived, but polygamy commenced at a very early date (Genesis 4:19), and continued to swell in number and frequency and prevail all down through Jewish history.

The laws of Moses regulated but did not prohibit polygamy. A man might have a plurality of wives, but a wife could have only one husband. A wife’s legal rights (Exodus 21:10) and her duties (Proverbs 31:10-31; 1 Timothy 5:14 being a plagiarism from past Hebraic writings taken from Akkadian scripts) are specified. The wife could be divorced in special cases (Deuteronomy 22:13-21), but the wife could not divorce her husband.

It is alleged that divorce was restricted by the Jesus of the New Testament to the single case of adultery (Matthew 19:3-9) as discussed earlier, but the authenticity of this inclusion is now under scrutiny. The duties of husbands and wives in their relations to each other are distinctly set forth in the New Testament (1 Corinthians 7:2-5; Ephesians 5:22-33; Colossians 3:18, 19; 1 Peter 3:1-7). What is unique is the role of the “husband”?

The word “husband” originally meant a manager and a frugal person (a change occurred with the advent of the Industrial Revolution).  The husband controlled all income (including the wife’s dowry that was brought to the marriage) and purchases in the house).  The word “husband” is from Old Norse hūsbōndi,  which is a combination of hūs  house + bōndi  one who has a household, from bōa  to dwell reflecting the Old English husbonda:  “male head of a household,” probably from the Old Norse husbondi  “master of the house,” from hus  “house” + bondi but with the unique meaning of  “householder, dweller, freeholder, peasant,” from buandi,  present participle of bua  “to dwell”.  It was originally used for a “peasant farmer” (early thirteenth century) and is preserved in husbandry (first attested in the late fourteenth century). Beginning late in the thirteenth century it replaced the Old English wer as “married man,” as the companion of a wif, which has been recognized by many scholars as a sad loss for English poetry. The verb “manage thriftily” appearing in the middle of the fifteenth century is from the noun, in the obsolete sense, “steward” (mid-fifteenth century); before 1000 CE.  The Middle English husband ( e ), Old English hūsbonda  meant anyone who was master [controller] of the house and comes from the Old Norse hūsbōndi,  equivalent to hūs (house) + bōndi  ( bō-,  variant of bū-)  dwell (see the word boor in any quality dictionary as it refers to a peasant or an unruly person: a country bumpkin; rustic; yokel or one who acts like a pig: is boorish) + -nd  present participle suffix + -i  inflectional ending).

To build a theology around the antiquity of “marriage” led to the invention of many words by giving a false definition to them as found in the Christian Bible. For example, the Biblical name of the first man, from the Hebrew adam (Hebrew: אָדָם‎, Arabic: آدم‎) does not mean “man,” but must be translated “from the ground”.  It is a horticultural term: a lump of red clay (Hebrew is adamah  “ground”) and comes from the Canaanite word for “workers of the earth” and is plural in number and gender neutral; cf. Latin: homo that is misused and mistranslated as “man,” but is actually a Greek word meaning “same”; this is, however, found in the words for humanus for “human,” and humus  “earth, ground, soil.” The misuse of translation and interpretation skills have brought such nonsense into the language as “Adam’s apple” (first appearing in 1755) being an inexact translation of the Hebrew tappuah haadam, literally: “man’s swelling,” from ha-adam  “the man” + tappuah  “anything swollen” that actually described the swelling of the earth when there was an earthquake or volcanic eruption. The allusion is to the fact that a piece of the forbidden fruit (commonly believed to be an apple) that Eve gave Adam is supposed to have stuck in his throat. To not know (someone) from Adam “not know him at all” is first recorded 1784.

The issue of “red” for the earth is from ancient Babylonia and has been used by the invading Hapiru and other barbarians from the north as a generic name for man, having the same meaning in the Hebrew and the Assyrian languages. The order of creation written in Genesis 1 and 2 very significantly (Ide, Arthur Frederick (1982). Woman in ancient Israel under the Torah and Talmud : with a translation and critical commentary on Genesis 1-3; Mesquite: IHP) , as does the “sin” that saw the mortals expelled from the Garden, once “Eve” is created and she eats the forbidden fruit. At that point she becomes a woman, and her punishment for sinning against the orders of the landlord was to give birth to children—although she only had three sons. We have the names of only three of Adam’s sons, viz., Cain (it means “farmer”), Abel (it means “shepherd”, and Seth (it has various meanings, including “trickster” and “substitute”) who has his origins in ancient Egyptian theology.  Genesis 5:4 reads that other children were born—and from them all came all the nations of the earth.  This line shows that incest was acceptable and a common form of “marriage”, and while the “children” of Genesis 5:4 says “sons and daughters” and Josephus claims (Antiquities 1:1) that Adam had thirty-three sons and twenty-three daughters, Cain would have had to marry (had sex) one of them to have children. Josephus is not a reliable writer, nor is he a historian or scientist, and his books are saturated with errors (

Eve is the only “living human” that can be based on the Bible. It is a feminine noun, and is in Hebrew Hawwah that liberally has been translated as “a living being” but actually is a word that means “life” or “the growing earth.”  What history there is of her comes from various texts, but few are in agreement.  The birth of her first son cannot linguistically be attributed to Adam, as Genesis 4:1 states “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord,” suggesting that the overseer was the father and follows the outline and words of most ancient civilizations from Ethiopian to Hindu on the generation of species. 

Eve named her son Cain as if he had been the Promised One the “Seed of the woman.” While this topic is too involved to enter into this essay, what must be answered is the evangelical biblical literalists argument that Adam and Eve were “married”.  Their claim is based on Genesis 2:24 (repeated in Matthew 19:5, Mark 10:7) but the word references a sexual act and not a contract to continue laboring together.  Then, too, there is the argument that Adam only had one wife; but legend and other scriptures argue that he had two: the first wife was known as Lilith first appearing in what is considered a pseudepigraphic eighth to tenth century Alphabet of Ben Sira is considered to be the oldest form of the story of Lilith as Adam’s first wife, with Eve as his second wife, but Lilith and her legend is found earlier in the Babylonian Talmud (completed between 500 and 700 AD/CE, although legend has it that it was begun around 200 CE). Lilith is also found in Mesopotamian and Akkadian texts that predate both, with the Tree of Life being a part of the Babylonian Gilgamesh.

Seth was the third son of Adam and Eve (Genesis 4:25; the word means “appointed” or “substitute”, (Genesis 4:25; 5:3). His mother gave him his name, “for God,” said she, “hath appointed me [i.e., compensated me with] another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.” However, the name can be directly traced to an ancient Egyptian god, patron of the 11th nome (or province) of Upper Egypt.

Seth has been recorded with the symbols of pigs, donkeys, and fishes. His cult centers were at Tanis, Ombos, and he was regarded as the Lord of Lower (Northern) Egypt.  Most commonly, Seth was represented by a big-eared imaginary animal with red (reflecting Adam: the red earth) hair resembling a donkey or maybe an aardvark. He was associated with the desert and storms. The Greeks associated Seth with their god, Typhon.  His story is more complete in ancient Egyptian theology than the mythology of Genesis.

Seth was the brother of Osiris, Isis and Nephthys who was also his wife. Nephthys’ son, Anubis was born from her tryst with Osiris, carrying out the Middle East acceptance of adultery and incest. Seth never had any children, as emphasis of his association with the barren desert and of his status as the antithesis of the fertile Osiris. During his battles with Horus, the goddess Neith suggested a compromise by giving Horus the throne, and Seth the Semitic goddesses Astarte (Venus who in Canaanite theology was known as Asherah) and Asat, which gave him two wives like other Middle Eastern Semitic men.

The story of Seth in Egypt is similar to that of Cain in the Old Testament for Seth became famous for the fratricide of his brother Osiris which most likely is the source for the Genesis account of Cain and Able, and for the attempted murder of his brother’s son, Horus. Horus survived though and avenged his father’s death by ruling all of Egypt and exiling Seth to the desert for all time—similar to Cain’s exile. Seth, however was not willing to accept the loss of his “birthright” and, like the legend of Jacob and Esau, was tricked out of it by his father’s wife.  While Jacob covered his hairless arms with the skins of goats, to fool his father Isaac, Isis transformed herself into a beautiful young woman and went to Seth with tears streaming down her face.  Seth asked the young woman what the matter was and Isis told a story like the situation that she found herself in with Horus: where an evil man had killed her husband and was trying to steal her family’s flocks. Seth became angry at her plight and insisted that the evil man be destroyed and that the young woman’s son should inherit the family’s estate. By his own words, Seth condemned himself, and lost the throne of Egypt.

In the Legend of Osiris, Seth/Set kills Osiris and scatters his body, then claims the throne of the gods for his own. He is later struck down by Horus, the son of Osiris, who restores order to the world and sets up the pharaohs as the guardians of Maat. Seth/Set and Horus continue to battle for control of the world, setting up an epic conflict of good versus evil as would Michael the archangel battle the Fallen Angel (some who claim is Lucifer, others Satan; they are not the same angels: Satan is a Babylonian Son of God who is known as the Adversary or Advocate/Lawyer in Job 2:1, and Lucifer was an angel/god of light {lucem ferre}, while the one Cast Down was “The Devil” (Isaiah 14:3-20), but he is not said to have been “cast down” from heaven—this comes from the Second Book of Enoch Verses 29:4, 31:4 of the longer recension manuscript R.) For an English translation of the story, read:  There are, however, many early Church Fathers celebrated this fiction which in time was accepted as fact, as with Tertullian (Contra Marcionem, v. 11, 17), Origen (Homilies on Ezekiel 13), and others, who identify Lucifer with the Devil, erroneously interpreting the Devil as being “cast down from heaven” (by mistranslating  Revelation 12:7–10; cf. Luke 10:18).

As for marriage being between “one man and one woman” as the hate mongers hiding behind the poorly translated bibles argue throughout the Christian world, there is no biblical support for the idea or concept.  Genesis 4:19 says “Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.” That means that marriage is between one man and two women (which can lead to jealousy and murder: Genesis 4:23).  Jacob, who was not of the House of Cain, also had a plurality of wives, with Leah and Rachel (who were polytheists) being the best known (Genesis 29:32 sqq), including the rare glimpse into their use of sexual devises (they sat on phallic statues of their gods to hide them from their father).

Abraham married his half-sister (Genesis 12:10-20), Sarah (Genesis 11:29-31), then “married” (had sex with) her servant Hagar (Genesis 16:1–21:21).  After the death of his wife Sarah takes another wife, Keturah, who has six sons (25:1-4).

Esau, the elder twin son of Isaac and Rebekan (Genesis 25:25) also liked the ladies and married frequently.  The names of Esau’s wives differ in two traditions (Genesis 26:34 and 28:9; cf. 36:2-3).

Moses had at least two wives.  One was Zipporah (who was Moses’ cousin: Exodus 2:15-16 and in Exodus 18:1-6 and continued the Egyptian practice of female circumcision: Exodus 4:24-26).  Moses’ second wife was the “woman of Ethiopia” ( the author of this article develops the reality found in the ancient spelling of the Torah where evangelicals attempt to claim that Moses had but one wife—which would be unusual in that day; cf. Numbers 11:35-12:2).  Moses’ polygamy is matched by Elkanah who had two wives: Hannah and Penninah (1 Samuel 1:2).

David had numerous wives (Michal {daughter of King Saul; I Samuel 18:20,28 is unique as it is the first Biblical account of a woman saying that she loved a man, but here the Hebrew word is ahava and it does not mean a romantic love; Saul set a bride-price for the groom David to receive Michal; to risk his life harvesting the foreskin of 100 Philistines, but David returned with the foreskin of 200}, Ahinoam {mother of Amnon; Ahinoam was King Saul’s wife and daughter of Ahimaatz (I Samuel 14:50) and David married her while Saul was still alive and had not divorced her}, Abigail {mother of Kileab; Abigail is the wife of Nabal (whose name denotes a fool or glutton), a wealthy landowner in the Hebron. She is noted as wise and beautiful (I Samuel 25:3) especially in contrast to her husband}; Maacah {mother of Absalom and Tamar and daughter of King Talmai of Geshur}; Haggith {mother of Adonijah}, Eglah {mother of Ithream}, and Abital {mother of Shephatiah}. David’s last wife was Bathsheba, mother of Solomon {David married Bathsheba after having her husband killed; Bathsheba is named as the daughter of Eliam (II Samuel 11: 3) himself the son of Ahithophel one of David’s counselors (II Samuel 23:34) and David had sex with her despite the fact she was menstruating, which was illicit according to Jewish law)’ it is also possible that David married his own sister: According to the Book of Chronicles David had a sister named Abigail (I Chronicles 2:16) whose her husband is named Ithra (or Jether) (2 Samuel 17:26; and I Chronicles 2:17). It is possible that after Nabal’s death David’s sister rule over Hebron, which baits the question of whether or not there were two Abigail’s – one David’s third wife and one his sister, who most likely were sisters-in-law, and even possibly the same person? That implies that David married his sister after the death of his rival Nabal to inherit her estates. Could David marry his sister – it was not unheard of in the ancient mid-east (cf. Levenson, Jon D. (1978) in Catholic Biblical Quarterly, p. 27); David is accused of two sins:  murder and adultery (where death is commanded for both the man and the woman {Leviticus 20:10}), including having sex with his own granddaughter.  For murder, the prophet intoned, David’s punishment was to be ‘the sword shall never depart from your household. (II Samuel 12:10). For adultery his punishment is ‘[God] will raise up against you evil out of your own house . . .  Your wives . . . will lie with your friend . . . in sight of this sun . . . you shall not die . . . the child that is born to you shall surely die’ (II Samuel 12:11-14).  David readily admits his sin and the prophet responds that God will forgive, but David must nevertheless be punished. David’s immediate acceptance of his crime saves his own life but not that of the unborn child (‘And the Lord struck the child’ (II Samuel 12:15). King

Jonathan loved David

David also loved at least one man (Jonathan). David’s love for Jonathan is Biblical evidence that marriage (sexual) union occurred between men, as with David and Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:1-3) for in the account we read the Hebrew word ahab, used to describe how Jonathan loved David and it does not mean “platonic”; it occurs 208 times in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament. It is translated love in the KJV 169 times and occurs in the story of David and Solomon in 1 Samuel 16:21, 18:1, 3, 16, 20, 20:17 and II Samuel 1:26.

Solomon outdid all of the men in the Old Testament for polygamous marriages.  Solomon had 700 official wives and 300 concubines (1 Kings 11:1-3).

No where in the Bible is there a rule, law, proclamation, statement from any god in the Old (אֱלהִים: elohim is a plural noun and refers to “god(s)” and/or “goddess(es)”) or New Testament nor is the Jesus of the New Testament that marriage between one man with one woman.

The Holy Spirit [which was not a part of the Trinity until the fourth century, and was considered one of three divine “persons” {ὑποστάσεις} but of one being {οὐσία} the invention of the Τριάς was established at the First Council of Nicaea in 325 CE under the order of the Emperor Constantine] used ahab in Genesis 29:20 to describe Jacob’s love for his wife Rachel and in Song of Solomon 3:1-4, to describe the love of the Shunamite girl for Solomon. The love of the Shulamite girl for Solomon is described as coming from her nephesh-soul, just as Jonathan’s love for David sprang from his nephesh-soul. Scripture uses ahabahto describe sexual love in the context of opposite sex marriage in Proverbs 5:19. Compare Ruth and Naomi (Ruth 1), Centurian and his servant (Matthew 8), Daniel and Ashpenaz in Daniel 1.  None of these were Sodomites, which refers to a city and the “pagan” (non-Hebrew worshippers of a fertility goddess: Asherah).  A sodomite in the Bible was always a shrine prostitute who worshipped the Canaanite fertility goddess? In many ways, the ancient Sodomites were similar to today’s cult of the Westboro Baptist Church that claims that “god hates…” and the god of Westboro Baptist Church will destroy nations that do not follow the dictates of his priesthood. Cf. Deuteronomy 23:17-18, 1 Kings 14:24, 15:12, 22:46, 2 Kings 23:7 and the non-Hebrew Book of Job 36:14;  all that use the word qadesh: it means “shrine prostitute” or “sacred whore” worshipping and interceding for a non-Hebrew deity.  This is the same term in Isaiah 1:9-10, 3:9, 13:19; Jeremiah 23:14, 49:18, 50:40; Lamentations 4:6; Ezekiel 16:46, 48-49 (which clearly defines the sin of the City of Sodom), 53, 55-56; Hosea 4:14 – harlots, qadeshah, shrine prostitutes; Amos 4:11; Zephaniah 2:9; Matthew 10:15, 11:23-24; Mark 6:11; Luke 10:12, 17:29; Romans 9:29; 2 Peter 2:6; Jude 5-7 talks about people and makes no references to LGBT individuals, as it speaks of the past when the Jews were in Egypt (it is worthy of note that the author(s) of Jude uses the Greek word, heteras {ἕτερος: meaning different, as in Acts 2:4 referencing speaking in different tongues} from which we get our English word, heterosexual, instead of the Greek word, homoios, {ίδιο: meaningsame} from which we get our English word, homosexual); Revelation 11:8, 22:15 – dogs (compare Deuteronomy 23:17-18 – “dog” was a derogatory name for a shrine prostitute: a “dog priest”; read: The base line is clear: The participles ἐκπορνεύσασαι (ekporneusasai, “having indulged in sexual immorality”: going against consent or using sex in worship) and ἀπελθοῦσαι (apelqousai, “having pursued”) have concord with “cities” (πόλεις, poleis), a feminine plural noun, rather than with Sodom and Gomorrah (both masculine nouns) indicates non-Hebrew values or actions and thus were condemned and had nothing to do with sex between consenting individuals.

The Testament of Asher 7:1 boldly declares that the people of Sodom should haveknown that the angels were strangers and thus would have sought them out as occurs in lands where xenophobia is strongest since throughout the Middle East there was a belief that angels/giants {or “Fallen Ones”} sought out the daughters of mortals (Testament of Naphtali 3:3-5; cp. Genesis 6:1-4; Zeitschrift für wissenschaftliche Theologie March 15, 1905).  These “fallen ones” have long been questioned as to whom they were, what they wanted, etc.  Among the most interesting interpretations is that of Matthew Henry who argued that god had to intervene (Henry, Matthew (1961) Commentary on the Whole Bible (Grand Rapids: Zondervan Publishing House):

“The sons of Seth (that is the professors of religion) married the daughters of men, that is, those that were profane, and strangers to God and godliness. The posterity of Seth did not keep by themselves, as they ought to have done. They inter-mingled themselves with the excommunicated race of Cain.”

It was not the sex between the two, but rather that they was an “intermixing” (true believers and nonbelievers) that would ultimately come into being an excuse for condemning interracial marriages and other merging of people.  Henry’s arguments are as spurious and nefarious as most evangelical commentaries, especially those by the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Pentecostal movements such as the Adventists, because at no time, before the Flood (a worldwide myth) or after, has God destroyed or threatened to destroy the human race for the alleged sin of “mixed marriages.” 

Like other evangelicals, Henry is over reading the text, as there is no mention of Seth anywhere in this account. The contrast made in Genesis 6:2 is not between the descendants of Seth and the descendants of Cain, but between the “sons of God” and the “daughters of men.”  Furthermore, only the daughters of Cain were involved—not the sons, and there is no indication of anything but traditional sexuality—definitely no reference to homosexuality with the Fallen Ones.  While Genesis 6:12 acknowledges that “all flesh” is corruptible (and subject to passion”, St. Augustine noted (Aurelius Augustine,The City of God (Edinburgh: T. & T. Clark, 1949), Transl. Marcus Dods) precisely:“Like the gods they have corporeal immortality, and passions like human beings.” The major problem is that the angels in the Old Testament were “Sons of God” (Job 2:1), but in the New Testament are “Servants of God”, and sex is not involved.  There is no reference to specific limitations on marriage—just that a person is to “sin no more” or encounter “strange flesh.”

The last point here is critical.  If Jesus was the Son of God, as many (but not all) fourth century Christians claimed, he would have been tempted by the flesh, had a girl friend, and following Jewish custom, would have married and had children.  Jesus did none of these things.  Instead, the Jesus of the New Testament had no girl friend nor girlfriends, never married (quite strange in during that time, and would led to a family and public rebuking), had 72 male disciples (it is recorded only in Luke 10:1–24; the number is in dispute, between 70 and 72, as The King James, New King James, and the New American Standard Bible read that Jesus “sent forth 70 disciples,” while the New International Version, The Jerusalem Bible, and the New Living Translation reflect that Jesus “sent forth 72 disciples”.  The difference is found in Nestle’s Novum Testamentum Graece, where the Greek word μετα δε ταυτα ανεδειξεν ο κυριος και ετερους εβδομηκοντα και απεστειλεν αυτους ανα δυο προ προσωπου αυτου εις πασαν πολιν και τοπον ου εμελλεν αυτος ερχεσθαι (“hebdomekonta“).  However, immediately following this word is the Greek word δύο or “duo” in brackets (duo) and must be translated “two.” Footnotes of several translations indicate that the Greek manuscripts are divided between 70 and 72 as the number sent out and there is no way to be sure of which one is the original. Both represent the number of nations in the world in Genesis 10, with the Hebrew text having 70 names while the Greek text has 72) and stayed with twelve men (only one who was married but never was with his wife: Peter according to the Bible (Matthew 8:14), but early Church Fathers claimed that all were married except “John the Beloved of Jesus” who “remained chaste for Jesus”; cf.; Saul of Tarsus/St. Paul was never married: 1 Corinthians 9:5), and let another man (John the Beloved) lay his head on his chest {John 13:25 and 21:20}, who

Jesus allowed to rest his head there “because he loved him”—as he had loved the brother of Mary and Martha who died but after he was restored to life disappeared—when John enters into Jesus community as being “born again” {John 11:1-44}), and have a nude youth follow him out of the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives (Mark 14:51-52 that is a revision of the Expulsion from the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve were expelled).  These are marks of a

servant—which is emphasized in Jesus’ ultimate speech where he prays (cf. Luke 11:2) that “this cup” (of impending death) be removed—a power that, as the Son of God, he would have been able to do, as the Advocate (Satan) noted in the Temptation in the Desert—but which Jesus rejected as would a faithful servant.  

 Jesus made no statement on marriage throughout his three-year career as a teacher (  Neither did his disciples nor apostles. He had no quarrel with women; he had no interest in what people did privately provided they did not go against trust, charity, or the spirit of the law (Matthew 19:9).

These acts brought into question the very divinity—an argument that tore apart the Christian community until the Emperor Constantine stepped in to the argument in the fourth century CE and formed his Christian Church when he called the Council of Nicaea to iron out their differences.  Chief among these “heresies” was Arianism. Arianism was a major heresy that arose in the fourth century and denied the divinity of Jesus Christ.  First effectively advanced by Arius (256-336), a priest of Alexandria, who denied that there were three distinct divine Persons in God, Arius saw most of the early Fathers turn to favor his position; in fact, Eusebius of Caesarea (who wrote the first fifty copies of the bible under the direct order of the Emperor Constantine, was an Arian, and the bishop who baptized the emperor on his deathbed (against the will of the emperor) was also an Arian). For Arius, there was only one Person, the Father. According to Arian theory, the Son was created (“There was a time when he was not”). Christ was thus a son of God, not by nature, but only by grace and adoption. This theory logically evacuates the doctrine of the Incarnation of God in Christ of all meaning: if God did not become man, then the world has not been redeemed and the faith itself eventually dissolves.

In 321, Arius was denounced by a synod at Alexandria for teaching a heterodox view of the relationship of Jesus to God the Father. Because Arius and his followers had great influence in the schools of Alexandria—counterparts to modern universities or seminaries—their theological views spread, especially in the eastern Mediterranean.

By 325, the controversy had become significant enough that the Emperor Constantine called an assembly of bishops, the First Council of Nicaea, that formally condemned Arianism and, under imperial pressure, formulated and promulgated the Nicene Creed.  Arianism, however, did not disappear as the emperor’s son and heir was an Arian, and Arianism was furthered by Anomeanism which was a radical variant of Arianism that held that the Son was “unlike” (Greek: animoios) the Father.

The letter ascribed to Jude, the brother of Jesus, brought many back to the original meaning: indicating that the sexual dimension of Sodom’s sin involved going after “flesh” (Greek: σάρκα transliterated as sarkos) that was “different/strange” (Greek: ἕτερος transliterated as heteras)–of nonbelievers or Fallen ones–and that the ultimate sin was lack of charity and friendship.  The word “homosexual” does not exist anywhere in the text, nor does “same-sex.”  “Homosexual” does not appear before the end of the nineteenth century, and “same-sex” relationships are not defined before the twentieth century. To find the word “homosexual” in a Bible is easy with the numerous modern editions published by various sects and cults, but it does not appear in any of the original documents.  The words “homosexual” and “same sex” are inserted words in numerous contemporary erroneously bad editions and have led to the rise of hatred for people, the drive to execute LGBT members in the most diabolical nations on this planet from Uganda and Nigeria to the USA.  At the same time it has led to the creation of a separation of people worse than what the German people did when Adolf Hitler rose to power and the Christian

churches celebrated the destruction of Jewish synagogues (Kristallnacht), arrest of women, children, elderly and babies and festivals given on news of the Jews mass extermination (Reichskristallnacht, Pogromnacht, and Novemberpogrome), with the Roman Catholic church, the Lutheran (official) Church of Germany, the Adventists, Jehovah’s Witnesses and other evangelicals celebrating publicly and in private.  Ninety-one Jews were killed and 30,000 Jewish men—a quarter of all Jewish men in Germany—were taken to concentration camps, where they were tortured for months, with over 1,000 of them dying. Around 1,668 synagogues were ransacked, and 267 set on fire (“‘German Mobs’ Vengeance on Jews,” The Daily Telegraph, November 11, 1938, cited in Gilbert, Martin (2006). This evil not only impregnated the German Reich but spread like a thunderous virus into Austria where in Vienna alone 95 synagogues or houses of prayer were destroyed (loc. cit., pp. 30-33) and the Roman Catholic, Protestant and evangelical clergy celebrated the destruction in a manner almost as nefarious as the encouragement of genocide of homosexuals in Nigeria by the pseudo-pastor Scott Lively and would-be but unlicensed psychologist Marcus Bachmann of Minnesota, husband of Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (both are Lutherans and celebrate the writings of the spiritual grandfather of Adolf Hitler and the Lutheran church in Germany) whose xenophobia is worse than any Nazi who breathed from 1939-1945. 

Bishop Martin Sasse, a leading Protestant churchman, published a compendium of Martin Luther’s writings shortly after the Kristallnacht; Sasse “applauded the burning of the synagogues” and the coincidence of the day, writing in the introduction, writing: “On November 10, 1938, on Luther’s birthday, the synagogues are burning in Germany.”   Sasse urged the German people to heed these words “of the greatest anti-Semite of his time [Martin Luther], the warner of his people against the Jews” (read: Bernd Nellessen, “Die schweigende Kirche: Katholiken und Judenverfolgung,” in Büttner (ed), Die Deutschen und die Judenverfolgung im Dritten Reich, p. 265; the German evangelicals were the strongest supporters of Hitler’s murderous programs as exists identically in the USA with the insanity of Iowa’s self-proclaimed prophet-pastor and former coach Robert Vander Plaats who leads the charge against those who do not share his concept of god nor accept his diktat on the correct lifestyle in a Kingdom of God that Vander Plaats terms FAMiLY [sic].) Diarmaid MacCulloch argued that Luther’s 1543 pamphlet Von den Jüden und jren Lügen (On the Jews and Their Lies) was a “blueprint” for the Kristallnacht (MacCulloch, Diarmaid (2004). Reformation: Europe’s House Divided, 1490-1700. New York: Penguin Books Ltd, 2004, pp. 666-667).

From Martin Luther to Adolf Hitler

On November 15, just days after the initial pogrom was started by the Nazis, Evangelical Lutheran Bishop Sasse distributed a pamphlet entitled Martin Luther on the Jews: Away with Them! (Martin Luther über die Juden: Weg mit Ihnen!).  In this tract the German Lutheran bishop reprinted excerpts from Luther’s notorious 1543 pamphlet, Against the Jews and Their Lies, urging the destruction of Jewish property (cf.  Rejoicing in the terrorism of the Nazis in the early years of the twentieth century, identical to the call for the execution of homosexuals in Nigeria, Uganda, Liberia, and other intolerant African nations by Scott Lively and other far-right evangelical extremists in the USA, Bishop Stasse claimed that Kristallnacht was fulfilling the goals of Luther; the Nazis were acting as Christians.  Luther’s psychology has been studied by numerous professionals, but the most succinct reads:

Was Luther am ordinären und kriminellen Ablaßhandel und Papsttum geißelte und anprangerte, war sicher echte Empörung, aus grundanständiger Motivation und wirklichem Gerechtigkeitsempfinden entstanden. Aber Luther war nicht nur ein Großer im Guten, es war auch ein ganz Großer im Schlechten: in der Glaubensfrage überhaupt, in der Frauenfrage, in der Bauernfrage, in der Herrschafts- und Obrigkeitsfrage und in der Judenfrage, und er litt auch an dem paranoiden Auserwählt-Syndrom, wie die meisten religiösen Führer. Seine haßerfüllten und vernichtenden Urteile gegenüber den Juden, Fremden und Andersdenkenden unterscheiden sich, obwohl “nur” religiös und nicht rassisch motiviert, wenig – aber doch in der Vernichtungsfrage – von denen der Nationalsozialisten, kein Wunder, daß diese sich gern auf ihn beriefen, im Einklang mit einigen evangelischen Bischöfen (z.B. Betrachtet man die Blutspuren, die die meisten Religionen hinterlassen haben, muß man zu dem zwingenden Urteil gelangen, daß die meisten nichts taugen, mit am wenigsten die der “drei Betrüger” (Moses, Jesus, Mohammed), wobei man Luther hier ruhig als den vierten großen Betrüger dazu zählen darf; sie sind zum großen Teil Tarnkappen und Verkleidungen psychopathischer, psychopathologischer,  soziopathischer und krimineller Machenschaften. Religionen und Sekten sind vielfach ein Hort und Schutzreservat für psychisch Gestörte, Verbrecher und Geschäftemacher. So sicher Luther kein lumpiger Geschäftemacher war, wie vielfach die Päpste, Bischöfe und ihre globale Ablaß-Mafia (Tetzel) seiner Zeit, so sicher liefert er – zumindest aus heutiger Sicht – dramatische Zeichen von Soziopathie und Verbrechertum. So popular was the German Luther, that until July 2011, presidential candidate Michele Bachmann praised her radical WELS church and the writings of Martin Luther before abandoning it in favor of political opportunism.  Martin Luther’s treatise On the Jews and their Lies (1543), exercised a major and persistent intellectual influence upon the German practice of anti-Semitism against Jewish citizens and has led to numerous members in the WELS to enter the KKK and USA version of the Nazi Party.

The Nazis in Hitler’s Germany publicly displayed an original of On the Jews and their Lies during the annual Nuremberg rallies, and the city presented a first edition of it to Julius Streicher, the editor of Der Stürmer, which described Luther’s treatise as the most radically anti-Semitic tract ever published (cp. Michael, Robert (2006). Holy Hatred: Christianity, Antisemitism, and the Holocaust. New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2006, chapter 4 “The Germanies from Luther to Hitler,” pp. 105–151; and Hillerbrand, Hans J. “Martin Luther,” in Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2007. Hillerbrand writes: “[H]is strident pronouncements against the Jews, especially toward the end of his life, have raised the question of whether Luther significantly encouraged the development of German anti-Semitism. Although many scholars have taken this view, this perspective puts far too much emphasis on Luther and not enough on the larger peculiarities of German history”).

Schutzstaffel (SS) Chief Heinrich Himmler, initially a supporter of, defended Ernst Röhm — the homosexual leader of the Sturmabteilung (SA [Brown Shirts]) after the Nazis the Nazi Party purged the homophile clubs of LGBT Berliners. In keeping with the writings of Luther and other evangelicals, Hitler outlawed academic and pornographic sexual publications in a manner that Iowa’s Vander Plaats has copied for his infamous “Contract” for Tea Party and conservative GOP presidential candidates to sign—a contract that Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum rushed to sign with a fervor greater than any Nazi known while Hitler lived.

Research and publicly incinerated its library and archives in the streets, are irrational panic-mongering mercenaries in Vander Plaats’ xenophobic army in a wacky exercise in revisionist history by claiming that basic rights have never been guaranteed in the USA.  Bachmann’s pastor requested that the presidential candidate in the USA leave the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church for fear that its controversial stand (its pastor, who no longer accepts calls from the media or researchers and requires his secretary to ask all callers the nature of their inquiry and their church affiliation as if the secretary was the Grand Inquisitor, claims that the Pope is the anti-Christ which the church claims is Biblical {as did Martin Luther, but has no foundation when reading Matthew 16:18}and holds the former German monk Martin Luther as being divinely inspired {}, a view Mrs. Bachmann publicly claims she does not hold as she “loves Catholics”) could hurt her chances to win the presidency and thus restore the USA to being a Protestant Christian nation (  Although Bachmann and her family had stopped attending the church in 2009, it was not until June 21, 2011, that her name was formally withdrawn from its membership roles.

The Nazis of the Third Reich, being prototypes for FAMiLY functionaries and supporters in Iowa and South Dakota, including the Bachmanns and Santorum, destroyed some 20,000 books and journals, as well as some 5,000 images. Contrary to Maggie Gallagher who was the original founder for the National Organization for Marriage (its oversight committee includes Chuck Stetson who is Chairman of the Board, Bible Literacy Project that has as its purpose to put the Christian Bible in all classrooms public and private and educate teachers as its authenticity, reliability and historicity), Luis Tellez (President, Witherspoon Institute Board of Trustees to promote traditional marriage, wants divorce illegal, and works against stem cell research and other scientific issues) and others, and who has spoken out that the Bible demands that marriage is between one man and one woman–that is not true anywhere in the Bible.  The word “marriage” is found only as a reference to sexual union without gender specification.

NAACP NAZI Pastor Keith Ratliff Sr

On May 14, 1933, Ludwig Müller (June 23, 1883 in Gütersloh, Westphalia – July 31, 1945 in Berlin) was a German who headed the German Christians (German: Deutsche Christen) and was imposed by the Nazi government as Landesbischof (bishop) of the Evangelical Church of the old-Prussian Union (6 July 1933) and Reich’s Bishop (28 June 1933) of the German Evangelical Church (German: Deutsche Evangelische Kirche). a prominent member in the ranks of the German Christian Movement became the principle Bishop of the Evangelical German Reich Church.  Most Protestant pastors and Roman Catholic clergy allied themselves with the Nazi party and their anti-Semitic views got published in the Protestant press even before Hitler’s election into power. The Protestant press influenced millions of its readers with the most prominent being the Sonntagsblatter, and the weekly Sunday newspapers. Berlin : Siedler, c1997.] As far as anyone knows, there had never occurred any visible or vocal church protest against the anti-Semitism of the Nazi party before it came into power. The second sentence of this chapter begins: “Der Novem- berpogrom, als “Reichkristallnacht” im Umgangstonverniedlicht…” (The Novemberpogrom was “prettified” in the vernacular as crystal night.”) pastors openly welcomed the Nazi’s believing that the reintroduction of government by Christian authorities, affirmed St. Paul that “the power that be are ordained by God.” (Romans 13:1). Under the continuing influence of the Lutheran Court Preacher Adolf Stocker, the Protestants, led by Lutheran clergy and their bishops believed that the future of German Lutheranism lay in obliterating the Jewish background of Christianity, and creating a national religion based on the traditions of German Christianity. They repeatedly stressed Luther’s anti-Semitic statements that no Jew deserved life.

One of the “moral” pastors of the nation,Friedrich Karl Otto Dibelius was a German bishop of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg, declared in a letter after April 1933, that he has been “always an antisemite.” Dibelius had expressed that he wanted the Jews to die out peaceably, bloodlessly (what a guy!) Wolfgang Gerlach, a German Evangelical pastor and historian of the Christian churches during the Nazi period, observed Bishop Dibelius’ anti-Semitic sentiments as “well-nigh representative of German Christendom” in the beginning of 1933. Bishop Martin Sasse of Thuringia, a leading Protestant churchman, published a compendium of Martin Luther’s anti-Semitic vitriol shortly after Kristallnacht(the first openly public attacks against the Jews by the Nazis). He applauded the burning of the synagogues and the coincidence of the day: “On November 10, 1938, on Luther’s birthday, the synagogues are burning in Germany… of the greatest antisemite of his time, the warner of his people against the Jews.” [Goldhagen p.111] He also edited a brochure for his ministers at the end of November 1938 titled, “Martin Luther and the Jews: do Away with Them!” He was not one to mince words, but detailed the evil that was behind Lutheran theology and Luther’s own foul mouth that spat hatred more than love, for Luther was like Ratliff Sr: totaly unfamiliar with any concept of compassion, concern, or generosity of spirit, and totally void of knowledge of 1 Corinthians 13:1-8.

Bishop Martin Sasse, a “devout Lutheran”, quoted extensively from Luther’s book “On the Jews and their lies” (Luther, Martin (1543). In Mein Kampf, Hitler listed Martin Luther as one of the greatest reformers, and the Protestants of Germany were delighted, and demanded that more than the Jews be erased from the planet, but in the name of a “terrifying, wrathful God demanding sacrifice” that the “Homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses [and other] low life” be denied all rights under the law” and killed expeditiously.

Today, in the State of Iowa (USA), there is another pastor who is even more ignorant of scripture of his Bible, and follows in the steps of the Protestant pastors who not only endorsed but supported in regular sermons the destruction of Jewish synagogues, the arrest, incarceration, and execution of Jews, homosexuals, White Russians, Polish Roman Catholics, “Romas” or “Gypsies” from Romania (their original origin was Egypt), and others:  Keith Ratliff, Sr.,  Pastor of the Maple Street Missionary Baptist Church located in Des Moines, Iowa, who for some unexplained reason is the head of the Iowa-Nebraska NAACP.  Obviously ignorant of Matthew 7:1 (μη κρινετε ινα μη κριθητε), and most assuredly has ignored Act 10:24 (τη δε επαυριον εισηλθεν εις την καισαρειαν ο δε κορνηλιος ην προσδοκων αυτους συγκαλεσαμενος τους συγγενεις αυτου και τους αναγκαιους φιλους), on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, Ratliff boomed out as if preaching to a college of Nazis, that homosexuals in Iowa had no civil rights and implied they had no human rights.  He claims that civil rights are for Black people–ignoring that many Blacks are gay (  Ratliff has ignored deliberately all of the essays on civil rights written by Black leaders in the USA (; there are numerous biblical passages that do call for basic civil rights for all people: Genesis 9:6:  שֹׁפֵךְ דַּם הָאָדָם בָּאָדָם דָּמֹו יִשָּׁפֵךְ כִּי בְּצֶלֶם אֱלֹהִים עָשָׂה אֶת־הָאָדָם׃, Exodus 22:21: וְגֵר לֹא־תֹונֶה וְלֹא תִלְחָצֶנּוּ כִּי־גֵרִים הֱיִיתֶם בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם׃ ; Leviticus 19:33-34 on the treatment of immigrants: וְכִי־יָגוּר אִתְּךָ גֵּר בְּאַרְצְכֶם לֹא תֹונוּ אֹתֹו׃ כְּאֶזְרָח םִכֶּם יִהְיֶה לָכֶם הַגֵּר הַגָּר אִתְּכֶם וְאָהַבְתָּ לֹו כָּמֹוךָ כִּי־גֵרִים הֱיִיתֶם בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃ ; Leviticus 19:10; Deuteronomy 15:7-8 on providing for the poor, Leviticus 25:39-41 for the release of indentured servants after fifty years, and all people are equal: Proverbs 22:2 etc., but Ratliff never mentions those passages in his double-barreled attack on those he does not approve of because of some characteristic of which he is in fear, especially of Galatians 5:1: τη ελευθερια ημας χριστος ηλευθερωσεν στηκετε ουν και μη παλιν ζυγω δουλειας ενεχεσθε). Ratliff Sr. barked: “Deviant behavior is not the same as being denied your right to vote,” and calling any parallel between the African-​American civil rights movement and the gay civil rights movement an “insult.”  His message was as clear as that of Martin Luther’s An den christlichen Adel deutscher Nation (1520). Ratliff Sr. has no education nor a degree in Bible or Theology, but earned a Bachelor’s degree from Simpson College in History/Education and a Master’s degree from Drake University in Religious Leadership (definitely ignoring any religious training in compassion).  He was a Senior Engineering Analyst at John Deere Des Moines Works for thirty-three years ( as most Baptist pastors are self-called and most hold jobs outside of their church. Few of Ratliff’s claims to “greatness” can be substantiated, yet this alleged associate of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (the son of Michael King (December 19, 1899 – November 11, 1984), condemned any idea that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (born Michael Luther King, Jr (January 15, 1929 – assassinated on April 4, 1968); he later had his name changed to Martin. In 1957 he was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization formed to provide new leadership for the now burgeoning civil rights movement.

The ideals for this organization he took from Christianity; its operational techniques from Gandhi. At the age of 35, Martin Luther King was the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize; he gave the prize money,  $54,123, to further the civil rights movement in the USA), would have supported gay rights or civil same-​sex marriage (  Ratliff Sr. rejects the credo of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), whose mission clearly states, “is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-​based discrimination.”

Ratliff’s anti-​gay actions also go directly against the teachings of the NACCP’s president, and Chairman, Benjamin Todd Jealous, and Jealous’ predecessor, Julian Bond. Additionally, Dr. King’s right-​hand man, Bayard Rustin, who planned the historic march on Washington, was openly-​gay.  Rustin (March 17, 1912 – August 24, 1987, he was 75 and continued to support gay and lesbian causes throughout his life) counseled Martin Luther King, Jr. on the techniques of nonviolent resistance and was called both the American Socrates as well as the American Ghandi, so opposed was he to violence and the hatred that spewed out of the uneducated mouths of ordained and unordained pastors, priests, rabbis and others who claimed to speak for a god of hate who had no compassion for mortals that the god’s spokesmen claimed were sinners.

Rustin became an advocate on behalf of gay and lesbian causes in the latter part of his career and openly compared the plight of gays and lesbians to the injustices experienced by Black people.

King’s widow, Coretta Scott King (she died February 1, 2006), has publicly proclaimed that her husband did support the rights of all people and she personally endorsed gays rights and the rights of all people ( that reports that Coretta Scott King said:

“Gay and lesbian people have families, and their families should have legal protection, whether by marriage or civil union,” she said. “A constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages is a form of gay bashing and it would do nothing at all to protect traditional marriages.”).  She had no difficulty in talking down the evangelical ministers in Nigeria who were demanding that the national government of Nigeria execute all homosexuals, whom they claimed, were “out to convert their children” — a claim that has been used by Ratliff, John Lively and a host of other anti-gay theological terrorists who have traveled to Nigeria and Uganda to encourage legislators to pass bills to condemn to death anyone even suspected of being gay.  In each case, these USA born preachers have never read the actual scriptures nor know what the words mean (contemporary English editions do use the word “homosexual”, but that was not a word used in the ancient world when the Torah or Bible were written; the word does not even appear in popular coinage until 1892, in C.G. Chaddock’s translation of Krafft-Ebing’s Psychopathia Sexualis, as it is  from homo– (ὁμός),  comb. form of Gk. homos  “same” and sexualis; The noun is first recorded The first known appearance of homosexual in print is found in an 1869 German pamphlet by the Austrian-born novelist Karl-Maria Kertbeny, published anonymously, arguing against a Prussian anti-sodomy law, 1912 in English, 1907 in French. Today the untrained, illiterate in religious literature, tracts, and scriptures, bray similar to Ratliff and Robert Vander Plaats of Iowa. They use scare tactics and the same theater as Martin Luther and Adolf Hitler to promote self-interest or (as with Senator Larry Edwin Craig (R-ID): Murphy, Patti; David Stout (2007-08-29). “Idaho Senator Says He Regrets Guilty Plea in Restroom Incident”. New York Times. ) to hide their own sexual frustrations and/or orientations. It is what is destroying Iowa, Nebraska, and the USA.

Treason of the Koch Family of Kansas

The Koch conglomerate of companies states that the Koch family “owns a diverse group of companies involved in refining and chemicals; process and pollution control equipment and technologies; minerals; fertilizers; polymers and fibers; commodity trading and services; forest and consumer products; and ranching.” (Koch Industries, “Koch Companies in Asia-Pacific” at Koch Industries website:, accessed April 2011.) This ever-expanding umbrella company was started in 1927 by Fred Koch who had four sons, Frederick R. Koch, b. 1932, Charles G. Koch b. 1935, David H. and William I. Koch twins born in 1940. Fred Koch was no less than a charter member of the John Birch Society (and while some argue that Koch was possibly the actual founder and creator of the John Birch myth, Robert Welch created the society in 1958) and passed his hatred of anything that imitated or suggested any form of “communism” to the current owners: his sons. These children, who are, through their foundations, arguably the leading and most influential funders of anti-regulation and conservative activism in the United States are open enemies of any social action or assistance to anyone who is poor, unemployed, underemployed, or unable to sustain life. Thriving in the World of Oz (the State of Kansas), but without Dorothy or Toto, Fred C. Koch was among those most determined to root out all who disagreed with his interpretation of government and freedom. No individual’s wealth, life, reputation, or family was neither important nor would it be respected if it betrayed Fred C.’s megalomaniac interests.

Because of a narcissist complex where Fred C saw himself as the arbitrator of the world and believed that the world was his to pluck like ripe fruit to devour and satisfy his own peculiarities, Fred Koch was no less than a charter member of the John Birch Society (and argued, wrongly, by some as possibly the actual founder and creator of the John Birch myth) and passed his hatred of anything that imitated or suggested any form of “communism” to the current owners: his sons. Koch Industries pollution (in Top Ten in the World)

About 750,000 people a year die prematurely from air pollution related issues worldwide. For water pollution (this includes inadequate water supplies too though), the number is 1.7 million deaths a year.  10% of these 2.5 million deaths can be attributed to the Koch Brothers and the Koch Industries that are not only killing the people of Kansas but people throughout the world; this makes the Koch family mass murderers. What would be the priorities of the Koch brothers’ Energy and Commerce Committee? Giving their benefactors anything they desire, of course: “Nine of the 12 new Republicans on the panel signed a pledge distributed by a Koch-founded advocacy group — Americans for Prosperity — to oppose the Obama administration’s proposal to regulate greenhouse gases.”

The new committee members include a congressman who has hired a former Koch Industries lawyer as his chief of staff. Another, Rep. Morgan Griffith of Virginia, won a long-shot bid to unseat a 14-term moderate Democrat with help from Americans for Prosperity, which marshaled conservative activists in his district. By some estimates, AFP spent over a quarter-million dollars on negative ads in the campaign. …

Perhaps the Kochs’ most surprising and important ally on the committee is its new chairman, Rep. Fred Upton. The Republican from Michigan, who was once criticized by conservatives for his middle-of-the-road approach to environmental issues, is now leading the effort to rein in the EPA. … Upton received $20,000 in donations from Koch employees in 2010, making them among his top ten donors in that cycle, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

Last week the chairman released a draft of a bill that would strip the EPA of its ability to curb carbon emissions. The legislation is in line with the Kochs’ long-advocated stance that the federal government should have a minimal role in regulating business. In addition, the Kochs’ oil refineries and chemical plants stand to pay millions to reduce air pollution under currently proposed EPA regulations.

John Birch (1918-1945)

The John Birch Society began with an apologiathat it was defending the USA and its values—values that belong to Fred C. Koch. In reality, the JBS was and remains anti-American, pro-racist, and preaches the subjugation of women to men as if that was the divine order—an order determined by men—not by women. The JBS quickly became more frightening to those who cherished freedom and liberty as it transmogrified further into the mouthpiece of the corrupt family in the USA: The Koch Family of Wichita, Kansas. JBS advocates the abolition of income tax (wrongly claiming it was a “Democratic Party invention to slow down corporate profits that put Americans to work” while, in fact, it was established by Republican President Abraham Lincoln to pay for the US Civil War), and the repeal of civil rights legislation (to this end his grandsons have been funding movements in such backward states as Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and so forth, where state boards of education are rewriting textbooks that claim that Black people were happier as slaves than as free people), which are seen as being Communist inspired.

It was Fred C. Koch who first hailed one of the greatest liars ever to live in the White House: Richard M. Nixon (R-CA; he was advised by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.) and his senior conspirator United States Senator Joseph McCarthy (R-WI). These two gasconades initiated an attack on basic rights of citizens of the USA in the 1950s during their infamous McCarthy-Nixon hearings on Un-American Activities. The USA was terrorized by the rise of Soviet power, especially in areas of arms and potential space control. Living in a withering fear, they voluntarily gave up basic writes that wrongfully blacklisted (permanently) many Hollywood stars, screen writers, producers ( and see, e.g., Schwartz, Richard A. On June 22, 1950, a pamphlet called Red Channels appeared being published by a right-wing fascist group known as Counterattack founded by Alfred Kohlberg (1887-1960; see: Herzstein, Robert E. (2006-06-01). “Alfred Kohlberg: Counter-Subversion in the Global Struggle against Communism, 1944-1960”. Globalization, Empire, and Imperialism in Historical Perspective. University of North Carolina. David Horowitz (who created the David Horowitz Freedom [sic] Center) is a rightwing ideologue who has been married four times, has founded some of the most virulent anti-human rights groups with special attacks on Blacks and Muslims, and has been labeled by the Southern Poverty Law Center as one of 17 “right-wing foundations and think tanks support[ing] efforts to make bigoted and discredited ideas respectable.”(Berlet, Chip (2003). “Into the Mainstream”. Intelligence Report. Southern Poverty Law Center. Berlet accused Horowitz of blaming slavery on “black Africans … abetted by dark-skinned Arabs” and of “attack[ing] minority ‘demands for special treatment’ as ‘only necessary because some blacks can’t seem to locate the ladder of opportunity within reach of others,’ rejecting the idea that they could be the victims of lingering racism.”, William Bennett, a former US Secretary of Education, and paleoconservative activist Patrick Buchanan, criticize schools and universities as ‘intellectualist’ based on three sets of criteria: political bias (e.g. liberal or secular), deficient curricula (e.g. the humanities that emphasize the superiority of western civilization), and impracticability (e.g. it has to make money which shows one’s value) the intellectual ideal of knowledge for its own sake is rejected; cf. Searle, John R. (1971). The Campus Wars, Chapter 2: The Students; cf., and labor organizers and unions, forcing thousands to commit suicide and without full justification executing the Rosenbergs in California on the grounds that they were traitors. For this reason, its opponents characterize it as a white citizens’ society dedicated to preventing minorities from gaining political power. Some of the 151 were already being denied employment because of their political beliefs, history, or mere association with suspected “subversives” while others were scathingly denounced by Koch for not recognizing his rise to power and questioning his fascist tactics—the State of Kansas became known among freedom loving intellectuals as the hell-hole of the nation, having shown its own growing Khristian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan that is increasingly associating itself and urging its members to join Koch family’s John Birch Society. Equal to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party, and identical with and to the KKK, the John Birch Society claimed it was purifying Christianity and ridding it of dissent. Birchers shared a common ideology and some overlapping membership with Doctor Frederick Charles Schwarz (an Australian physician who was active in USA politics while claiming that his home in Sidney was his legal address) and his California-based Christian Anti-communism Crusade (which is still active and now out-rivals the Nazis of 1944:—although the early Christians were communists in the pure definition of that word. Like all evangelical extremists and theological thugs, Schwarz (like Richard Nixon and Robert F. Kennedy, followed by Reagan and George W. Bush) has no concept of what the Bible said nor what how it was interpreted. Schwarz’ father was a Viennese Jew who converted to Christianity and redefined that religion outside of any knowledgeable or current convention of interpretation and were more in keeping with the message of hate that runs rampant through the writings of one-time Augustinian monk Martin Luther, the spiritual father of Adolf Hitler. This was much in the same way as Iowa Nazi Family Leader Bob Vander Plaats has set up his own religion that he claims is true Christianity, with “women subordinating themselves to their husbands” and students finding “true knowledge” in the Bible where every word was authored by God.

Schwarz fit comfortably into the dark shroud of the JBS, and dedicated his life to fighting phantasms of covert communism. No subterfuge, no crime against humanity or basic civil rights was too extreme if it would root out communism and stifle dissent.  Schwarz would have been far more comfortable in Nazi Germany than he was ever comfortable in preaching to citizens of the USA from his Australian house (cp.,9171,938304-1,00.html).

JBS’s objective was to fight communism using what were considered to be the techniques of communism: organizing front groups (pretending to be members of one group while spying on it, as is still the case with the nefarious Family of C Street in Washington, DC, where adulterers like US Senators John Ensign (R-NV) and John Vitter (R-LA) condone their unorthodox lifestyle claiming that their Jesus has no objections as long as the martial arm of Jesus is used to root out all other faiths and dissentions from what the Family has predetermined to be the militancy of the biblical Jesus (Sharlet, Jeff. The Family: the secret fundamentalism at the heart of American power [1st Harper Perennial Edition] New York, NY: Harper Perennial, 2009; first issued in 2008); on using marginalized groups to attack members of their own groups in much the same was as the Brown Shirts did in the 1930s, see:; cp. It also included infiltrating other groups and letter-writing campaigns especially to local and state papers, and other publishers (cp. The society was named in honor of John Morrison Birch (1918-1945), a Fundamentalist Baptist self-promoted and self-ordained missionary from Georgia, who served with minor distinction as an intelligence officer in China during World War II, and he would brazenly hold Sunday church services for Chinese Christians even though the action offended non-Communist Christians who were fight against communism—their lack of faith, Birch argued, showed that they were in truth in league with the devil and not fight the wars of Jesus. In his diary, Maj. Gustav Krause, commanding officer of the base, noted: “Birch is a good officer, but I’m afraid is too brash and may run into trouble.” Urged to take a leave of absence, he refused, telling Chennault he would not quit China “until the last Jap” did. Birch always spoke pejoratively about those he opposed or felt opposed him. Birch lacked all knowledge of Matthew 7:1 and Acts 10:24. When, on August 25, as Birch was leading a party of Americans, Chinese Nationalists, and Koreans on a mission to reach Allied personnel in a Japanese prison camp, they were stopped by Chinese Communists near Xi’an. When asked to surrender his revolver; Birch refused and with characteristic un-Christian “harsh words” (that are not found anywhere in the sayings of Jesus) insulted the Chinese and called upon them to repent to a god no one understood, knew, or cared about. Shots were exchanged, Birch was killed and a Nationalist Chinese colleague was shot and wounded. The John Birch Society has a checkered past at best, but more realistic, it has a history of hate that is unthinking, unfeeling, and directly opposed to a sense of compassion. It has consistently opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, claiming that “colored people” have no constitutional rights as the Constitution was written for White People (which it was until it was amended by the 14th Amendment (It was not until 1971 that the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause was first applied to sex discrimination, but then not until 1996 were women allowed to enter military schools), and one of the primary reasons the Tea Party devotees demand that Obama be removed from office, claiming that he was born in Kenya [he was born in Hawaii] and that he is black [obvious even to the casual observer]) and for people of property (which it was until reinterpreted, giving Wisconsin’s Nazi Governor Scott Walker the raison d’être for dissolving unions that argue for a more just society of equals, which to the Birchers is wrong). Robert Welch was the first Bircher to accuse President Eisenhower of being a treasonous Communist, proclaiming “[Dwight Eisenhower was a] dedicated agent of the Communist conspiracy.” Today the most vocal spokesman for the Birch Society is Glenn Beck who is hailed as a hero among the radical right group ( and

Like John Birch, the Koch family, especially the grandsons, defy ever convention of civility and democracy. They have used their multibillion dollar wealth to create far-right “think tanks” such as the Cato Institute, and the Tea Party Movement. They give lavishly to US Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas—both who openly attend Koch and other ultra-conservative functions and have no concept of objectivity of the law. Scalia preaches “originalism” and openly rejects that the US Constitution is not a “living document” that adapts to the current needs, but that it must be interpreted literally as it was understood when it was written in 1776, regardless of the changes society and the nation has gone through ( On January 24, 2011, Scalia attended a House of Representatives Tea Party gathering ( which even conservative Texas lawyers and judges’ claim shows that the US Supreme Court has become partisan.

Today Clarence Thomas’ wife, Virginia, has a job in conservative journalism, is funded by the Koch Brothers to breathe more life into their Tea Party movement, and shown open disdain for individual rights as seen especially in her telephone call to Anita Hill who leveled charges, which the justice now acknowledges, of sexual misconduct by Clarence Thomas (Chrisman, Robert, and Robert L. Allen, editors. Court of Appeal: The Black Community Speaks Out on the Racial and Sexual Politics of Clarence Thomas vs. Anita Hill. New York: Ballantine Books, 1992;  They have repeatedly been befriended and protected by the Koch Brothers who need another “conservative” judge on the US Supreme Court bench, especially with their oil drilling under scrutiny in Alaska, and refineries reaching from Minnesota to Texas.  These Koch oil refineries in Alaska, Texas, and Minnesota, and give the Koch Brothers control some four thousand miles of pipeline. Koch Industries (with revenues of more than $100 billion a year; owns Brawny paper towels, Dixie cups, Georgia-Pacific lumber, Stainmaster carpet, and Lycra, among other products. They argue for drastically lower personal and corporate taxes, minimal social services for the needy (including the ending of all Medicare and Food Stamps for the poor and elderly and those who are unemployed—so that the poor will accept lower wages (they openly want minimum wage to be repealed), and less government oversight of industry especially in the area of environmental regulations. Their goal is to abolish the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) so that they can continue polluting the air, water, and destroying land by strip mining and removing all natural resources.

a longtime critic of government-led climate studies, and head of Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project. When the Koch Brothers thought they had sufficient “evidence” to stifle academic attacks on its polluting industries, they were surprised when Muller told Congress in the last week of March 2011, that those who claimed that climate warming was destroying the planet, were correct. Muller had previously noted that temperature data, gathered from from tens of thousands of weather stations across the globe, had “incomplete records,” which led to his initial skepticism.

The Koch Brothers bankroll the Tea Party movement (whose purpose is to disorganize and end labor unions at all levels), sustain climate change skepticism and fund right-wing “think tanks” (i.e. propaganda organs that are far from the truth in a manner identical to Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda or Propagandaministerium [The Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda] headed by Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels [Göbbels] who was known for his zealous oratory and anti-Semitism. Goebbels believed books to be dangerous and was not fond of reading books other than those approved by The Family Leader (a title adopted by Iowa Nazi evangelist Bob Vander Plaats); hours after Hitler commited suicide, Goebbels and his wife, Magda Quandt their six young children and then committed suicide. Goebbels had numerous mistresses before his marriage to the Protestant pastor, Magda Quandt, in 1931. Although he was raised a Roman Catholic he easily adapted to his wife’s theological allegiance to Martin Luther who regularly attacked the Jews in sermons and pamphlets while encourage large estates and landlords and emerging entrepreneurs to do all in their power to stop peasants from organizing or leaving his church or bringing about unions from forming or growing (Wider die räuberischen und mörderischen Rotten der Bauern), including ordering civil leaders to illegal tradesmen from forming collectives).

Luther would later celebrate his book and champion the cruelty it contains by writing that he had to defend the ‘harshness’ that he used stating that “a revel is not worth rational arguments, for he does not accept them. You have to answer people like that with a fist, until the sweat drips off their noses” (Tappert, Theodore G. ed. (1967) Selected Writings of Martin Luther: 1523-1526. Philadelphia: Fortress Press, p. 361). In many ways Goebbels has been outmatched for lies by Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck (“commentators” strong and well-financed by the Koch Brothers whose father, like George H.W. Bush’s father and George W. Bush’s grandfather US Senator Preston Bush (R-CT) supported Hitler and sent funds to the Third Reich). In many ways the Ministry of Propaganda in Nazi Germany was equal to the Soviet Pravda [Truth].  What is little known is that the founding Koch industrialist got his start by helping Josef Stalin and his purge of dissidents: Fred Koch was the son of a Dutch printer who settled in Texas and ran a weekly newspaper. Later, Fred attended M.I.T., where he earned a degree in chemical engineering. ( Unable to succeed in the USA, Fred Koch turned to Soviet Russia, and found work in the Soviet Union, setting up his own company (Rock Island Oil & Refining).

Fully aware that Stalin was a communist, Fred Koch trained Bolshevik engineers and openly helped Stalin’s regime set up fifteen modern oil refineries. When Stalin brutally purged several of Koch’s Soviet colleagues, Koch return to the USA and began his own business. Fred Koch clearly remembered that the owner in the Soviet system had the right to get rid of those who served him if the owner was crossed or offended, while in the USA, because of a strong labor union consortium in Wisconsin, American workers could not be as easily discharged—this bothered the senior Koch who found a growing dislike for Wisconsin, a disdain that doubled rapidly when he learned that there were no less than five cities in Wisconsin with the same name: Union.

As the Soviets grew in power, Fred Koch switched allegiances and became an outspoken enemy of Soviet socialism (communism) and began to attack even the White House for being sympathetic to communism, his paranoia knowing no boundary. Ultimately, Fred Koch came out against the American civil-rights movement, and disparagingly wrote, “The colored man looms large in the Communist plan to take over America. Welfare, established by the nation, was “a vicious race war” and he predicted that Communists “would infiltrate the highest offices of government in the U.S. until the President is a Communist, unknown to the rest of us,” but hinted broadly that the Communist president would be a black man.

Seeping his stagnant sewage through the stagnant lives of Charles and David Koch, the Koch Brothers attacks continue to be focused on Blacks (in general), Black liberals (more specifically), and Black Democrats (attacked with a vengeance). To counter this threat of a Black Communist President of the USA, Fred Koch and his children would turn to the tactics successfully employed by Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini: they would establish propaganda podiums, propaganda mills, rewrite history and science textbooks and reissue all books that disagreed with them. Fred Koch delighted in Goebbels’ burning of books and sought that in the USA, arguing that it would take a state like Kansas to begin the book burning, but lamenting that such a democratic action would be more likely to happen in a backwater state such as Texas ( or Iowa (self-styled pastors, such as Douglas Taylor of the Jesus Party in Lewiston, slashed “offending books” [Harry Potter] when Cedar Rapids would not give him a permit to burn it:; cp. It happened in Kansas: with copycat burnings in Wyoming and Tennessee ( The propaganda machinery established by the Koch Brothers includes such fascist organizations as the Cato Institute, the Heritage Foundation, the Competitive Enterprise Institute and the National Center for Policy Analysis. Since 2008 these pseudo-intellectual “think tanks” with predetermined agendas formatted by the Koch Brothers have waged war against Obama and what they perceive to be his socialist agenda, ignoring the true meaning (and rightful interpretation) of the word “fascism”. Fascism is a word that many no longer use, but as Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini (1883-1945, Italian dictator) noted, “Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.” The government that the Koch Brothers and their Tea Party adherents want in the USA is a fascist government, where ignorance is bliss and few have any concept of their own history (for example, the original Tea Party, led by Samuel Adams and John Hancock with eighty other men, was to destroy the tea of the East India Tea Company that the Crown of England gave a corporate tax break and a monopoly to enrich itself off of the American colonies. Today’s USA Tea Party is the exact reverse of what John Adams and his “conspirators” were fighting against—for the Tea Party today wants increasing tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy. Cf. Today the Koch Brothers own the governorships of Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, New Jersey, Florida (see:, and other states and cities by buying the elections. The Koch brothers have channeled money into state house and senate races to the least competent, most corrupt, and most eager to ensure that people do not report corporate abuses, as can be seen especially in Iowa and Wisconsin. To thank the Koch Brothers, Scott Walker of Florida had himself empowered to “…privatize any or all of these facilities at a whim…without taking bids, to anyone he chooses. And …any such sale would…be ‘considered to be in the public interest’,” which would only benefit the Koch Brothers (although they publicly denied that they were interested in the plants “since they were old and fully depreciated”; see: Interestingly, the legal rules for selling the public’s assets that this provision would effectively nullify appear to include those that: 1. require public bids; 2. reserve the right of the government to reject bids; 3. require that any property sold be subject to property taxes; 4. require that the fair market value of the property to be sold be publicly disclosed; 5. require at least 14 days for a public commission to review any proposed sale; and 6. require notification to the legislature in writing of the proposed sale. (Section 13.48(14).)

Far more devastating to the ecological equilibrium and economic well-being of Wisconsin is the reality that the Koch brothers’ financial interests that includes Koch Pipeline Company, which operates a pipeline system that crosses Wisconsin, part of the nearly 4,000 miles of pipelines owned or operated by the company would not be subject to the Governor’s whim who could award it to the Koch family. Furthermore, the Koch family owns Flint Hill Resources, which distributes refined fuel through pipelines and terminals in Junction City, Waupun, Madison and Milwaukee.

Wisconsin is not the only state slated for Koch slaughter. Arkansas is already feeling the bitterness of pollution that Koch Industries:  its paper mill is violating the Clean Water Act by pumping out massive amounts of pollution into an Arkansas waterway, according to an EPA enforcement complaint filed by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) and the Ouachita Riverkeeper.

 The complaint alleges that a Georgia-Pacific paper mill on the Coffee Creek in Arkansas – owned by the billionaire Koch Brothers -emits 45 million gallons of paper mill waste including hazardous materials like ammonia, chloride, and mercury each day. Coffee Creek then flows into Louisiana’s Ouachita River where the pollutants have left the formerly pristine water speckled with odorous foam, slime and black pockets of water, said Jerry Johnson, who has been visiting the Ouachita River for 35 years.

Koch Industries (owned by the Koch family) owns the “C. Reiss Coal Company,” a power plant supply company located in Green Bay, Manitowoc, Ashland and Sheboygan (the company supplies coal to power plants) and all of this could pass from public hands to the Koch Empire that would outsource hundreds of long-stand jobs and thus put Wisconsin workers on soup-lines when jobs disappear and Koch profits escalate. Additional crimes against humanity include attacks upon the environment, pollution, lying, distortion of records, and bribery of government officials. The Koch Brother shrug off all references to their being in the top ten worst polluters in the world (  Bayer Group is the worse; see Koch imports oil from the Middle East, refines high-carbon Canadian crude, maintains coal-burning plants, owns one of the largest oil pipeline networks in America, runs environmentally hazardous lumber mills, produces toxic chemicals, and manufacturers fertilizer. Koch Industries has a fleet of lawyers to protect them from injured employees, and created a political machine geared towards ensuring that Koch Industries never has to compensate the people and ecosystems damaged by Koch Industries pollution. Koch front groups — from Tea Party groups, led by former GOP House Leader Dick Armey (whose own uncle wrote a book exposing the duplicity and corruption of his nephew) to think tanks — have diligently promoted in the identical manner as Goebbels’s Ministry of Propaganda. US Senator Bob Dole (R-KS), a personal friend of the Koch brothers and top recipient of Koch money, sponsored legislation to suppress an investigation into the oil thefts that were too numerous to count and all conducted by Koch operatives (, David Koch was Dole’s 1996 campaign vice-chairman and contributed $245,000). During the 1990s, Koch Industries’ faulty pipelines were responsible for more than 300 oil spills in five states. This prompted a landmark penalty of $35 million from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which led to the first assaults on the EPA by the Koch Brothers and their allies. In Minnesota, Koch Industries were fined an additional $8 million for discharging oil into streams. During the months leading up to the 2000 presidential elections, the company faced even more liability, in the form of a 97-count federal indictment charging it with concealing illegal releases of 91 metric tons of benzene, a known carcinogen, from its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. If convicted, the company faced fines of up to $352 million, plus possible jail time for company executives including Charles and David Koch who openly attacked the EPA rulings and did nothing to hide their duplicity, lack of veracity or enhance their credibility, but relied on homespun Kansas arguments of the right to pursue personal happiness. To ensure that they had “their man” in the White House, the Koch family poured more than $800,000 into the election campaign chest of George W. Bush—a man who has at best a marginal education, addresses the titans of industry and mining as “my friends” and worked hard to lessen tax burdens on these friends, then bought votes in Florida, which the US Supreme Court upheld as lawful. After George W. Bush became president, the U.S. Justice Department dropped 88 of the 97 charges against Koch. Two days before the trial began on the remaining nine charges, John Ashcroft deep in debt to the Koch Brothers settled for a plea bargain. The bargain Ashcroft agreed to after “consulting” with GW Bush was written by Koch lawyers, and in the contrived bargain Koch Industries pled guilty to falsifying documents. All major charges were dropped, and Koch and Ashcroft settled the lawsuit for a fraction of that amount—which was paid without hesitation while “redundant” (or surplus) employees were discharged. To sweeten this deal Alex Beehler, who served as Bush’s director of environmental and regulatory affairs for the US Government and concurrently served at the Charles G. Koch Foundation as vice president for environmental projects, received his “just reward”. Beehler was later nominated and re-nominated by the Bush White House, to become the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Inspector General so that laws protecting the environment would be ignored and polluters let off with warnings or small fines. Those who benefited the most from Beehler’s appointment to the EPA post by George W. Bush were the Koch Brothers who found new ways to lay off workers, to ignore climate warming and environmental hazards, and to enrich their family beyond even that which was obscene for income by a single family: all at the expense of the Middle Class family and taxpayers who made less than $200,000 a year.

The Koch Brothers operate the largest outsourcing firms in the world ( The Koch Brothers cut jobs in Wisconsin to get Scott Walker elected governor ( They openly tell their employees for whom to vote (Tea Baggers; see: and, deny freedom of association ( or free speech ( and, cp., and counter every freedom written into the Constitution by having Scalia and Thomas declare that the Constitution must be interpreted using the same reasoning as when it was written over two hundred years ago. They have become like their father—and anarchist who sees no good in government and a dictator who would stifle all dissent. According to the US Supreme Court, in Cramer v. United States, treason is defined as “perversion by established authority to repress peaceful political opposition” (325 U. S. 1, 27 (1945) cf.  ThinkProgress notes:

“In May, 2010, the National Academies of Science reported to Congress that “the U.S. should act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and develop a national strategy to adapt to the inevitable impacts of climate change” because global warming is “caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for — and in many cases is already affecting — a broad range of human and natural systems.”

The treason of the Koch family is easily proven. It culminates with the Koch Brothers interference in Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and other states now controlled by the Tea Party, and with their controlling and bankrolling the Tea Party and similar groups the list of their crimes against humanity grows.  The Koch Brothers should be tried for treason, and when found guilty Charles and David Koch should be executed (cp.

Teaching Realities, a Study of English Education in Perú

Over the past fifty years of teaching I have had entire classes (at all levels) of students hate me because I would not be their friend, because I would not give them the grades they demanded.  I insisted that they earn the grades by hard work, by rational understanding, legitimate interpretation of the material, and correct translations based on the original meaning and not a current definition. I was hated because I would count down for poorly written papers sloppily organized encrusted with the barnacles of wretched word choice and layered with prostituted prose.  It has never matter to me to fail the student who would parsimoniously plagiarize publicly, haplessly and carelessly, because I have required academic excellence from all students from my days of teaching at Estherville Junior College and Mauna Olu College of Maui to University of San Diego and Eastfield College to the present day where I have that rare good fortune to be allowed to share my knowledge with the students enrolled at Universidad César Vallejo (UCV).  The words of thwarted malcontents were filled with mendaciously and chimerical audacious anger, but I understood them–not for the vicious, vulnerable words themselves, but what the words were telling me: of the pseudo-academics anger towards themselves, their lethargy in learning, their personal vacuous vanity in expecting an envisaged course with few rigorous requirements.  When it came to taking examinations, cheating was common and not even lightly disguised with students texting one another using their cellular telephones.

Not content with their pontification of perfidious anhedoniac unhappiness that they had been assigned to a professor who required them to learn more than what one book reported they plotted a malevolent aeternum servans sub pectore vulnus as a subconscious revenge against themselves. As I had in the previous, I stated that I would always forgive errors in judgment and composition and even overlook rank plagiarism when the offending would-be savant admitted the error, and after such a confession allow the student(s) to write a new essay in lieu of the plagiarized paper. I reminded each student by a confidential e-mail that each alumnus, one at a time individually, that if we do not learn from our mistakes we all are doomed to repeat them, as did governments, theologies, and businesses.  These words were not new to me, nor did I craft them, for they are attributed to George Santayana (16 December 1863 in Madrid, Spain – 26 September 1952 in Rome, Italy). 

Santayana was a philosopher, essayist poet and novelist, and a teacher who demanded attention to the philosophies as well as the methodologies that shaped the present word far into the past; to recall the contributions and learning strategies of Socrates, Spinoza, Bacon and other thinkers, noting in my own orations that if anyone was to learn and be able to apply true learning strategies to advance knowledge. Unfortunately, Santayana was rebuffed as were all others who sought truth and rejected the concept that education was of a narrow focus, for as testified by my student’s sine-serendipitous rejection of redoing any paper and continued notating only contemporary thinkers in determining didactics leading to methodologies, pedagogies, and strategies.

When I did not follow the modern credo of “me first” and “me, mine, myself” and the preemptive absurd arrogations, but returned to the foundations of learning strategies to fully explore the evolution of learning, I have been regularly vilified by entire classes—not by just one student, nor even by several who overpowered the objections of the others in the modern parody of “peer pressure”—but by an ubiquitous, united force determined to secure fraudulently the highest grade possible (in Perú a score of 20, in the USA a grade of A, and so forth) and obtain an insipidly fatuous and meretricious degree with the least thinking required.  

Nothing that I had ever experienced exceeded the bile that was heaped upon me from several of the students enrolled in that university in Lambayeque Province in Perú that I had brooked before in any other university anywhere in this world weary of wars and the denudement of its natural resources and pollution of its waters, streams, and air before the early months of 2011 in Perú. But this outrage against the justice of education is now everywhere: from Florida to Perú, Stockholm to Milan, and Beijing to Borneo.

One of the e-mails I received that was sent by a young man who turned in but a solitary and single essay, extraordinarily short and abbreviated as to content, being less than two hundred words (a composition that would not have received a passing grade in a sixth grade class in any reputable school in the First World of nations), said that regardless of what I thought was necessary to know in order to gain student interest and awareness, he preferred to be a “loved” teacher (implying that education was secondary). He noted that his goal was not disseminate education but to have the students hold him dear as a friend and companion. I did respond to his letter, noting that I  do not want to be loved as a teacher, but to be respected as some a trained professional teacher and scholar who reads, writes, thinks, and converses with others in the mutual sharing of information, ideas, programs and knowledge.  Furthermore, as I detailed in my responding e-mail, I have always resented those teachers who want to be loved by their students and will give up all principles of scholarship, accuracy in assessment of student abilities, and working towards learning that which had been closeted from the student by church or state or peers; I summarized this litany by praying for his understanding that for most of the students whom I have known and the students my colleagues have attempted to teach, have told me and my fellow-teachers about demanding the top grade without working for it. As happened recently at Central Florida University when wide-spread cheating occurred, one student in the class where 200 were warned of expulsion for having photocopied the answers to a major test, commented drily, “What’s the big deal? We all do it. It is not the degree that counts, but the job it brings and the dollars we earn.” (cf.;; and

In time those same students will forget how they obtained that top grade and lose the memory of what transpired in the classroom. I have seen and heard that excuse so many times that I can repeat it in my sleep, but for me the blackest moment in my move to Lambayeque Province was listening to the wife of a friend who bragged how she had obtained a degree in the English language at a university in Trujillo, and then boasted that she had forgotten “all of it: every word, every rule, everything” as if it was a badge of honor to have wasted four years of studying the English language in her colegio and four years at the same university.

Reflecting sorrowfully on my own past where I had the opportunity to obtain the best grade by merely fatuously fawning around the teacher—a trait in Spanish known as adulador.—as my peers did fifty years ago, I could not do the same. Today many claim that fifty years ago I was a student prodigy who had teachers who admired my intelligence and unending search for knowledge, and secretly resented me for finding books, articles, and other forms of recorded information that they had not searched for nor obviously read, and denounced me for having had the audacity to question their pontifications by citing original source material that contradicted their claims and entonements to their embarrassment. I have never respected those who deliberately falsify knowledge and reality, and because of this I have made many enemies throughout my lifetime and within my careers: from the days I studied for the doctorate at the University of Cincinnati where I found the medievalist’s source book printed by Oxford University Press as one of its tomes in a multivolume work on the History of England and exposed the professor’s plagiarisms in papers and oral presentations, to my unfortunate and typically short career as Senior Technical Writer at Sauer-Danfoss (USA; a Danish engineering firm) where I countered the extraordinary arrogance of an engineer who wanted to reverse the entire hydraulic process that would have rendered the motor on a John Deere tractor useless and who was supported by the Team Leader of the “Writing Group” who was seldom at work, frequently running personal errands, and never read a single book I wrote in three years (although he did send one to the Czech Republic for their review–it came back without a change)—for which I received not only a reprimand but an offer of a “buy out” of three months wages if I agreed never to step foot in the Ames, Iowa facility.  But before I left he had me order twelve copies of several books I had written (including Writing Plain English and Punctuation Handbook) to send to Demark and other Sauer-Danfoss international centers. Of course Sauer-Danfoss never paid me for the books, but then I was reminded that the company was paying me for the three months that I would not work on location in Ames. I agreed to this humiliation as I needed the money to make house payments, and new I could spend more time in my own businesses I ran out of a small building I purchased on Isabella Street in Radcliffe.

It has not always been the case, for there were a few more gentler moments, as when I was a student at State College Iowa.  There I had a few truly exceptional teachers: Donald Howard, head of the History Department, John L. Eiklor who would fit into any program, and Harold Bernhard head of the Department of Religion (who oversaw my first MA thesis).  Professor Eiklor was an extraordinary teacher with a wide range of knowledge, and the professor for a class on the Renaissance and Reformation.  In this class, Dr. Eikor asked each student to write a paper on a special, self-chosen topic on the Renaissance or the Reformation (Northern or Italian) and after it was finished at the end of the semester tell him what grade each student believed that he or she deserved and justify the grade to obtain it.

I wrote my paper (over 600 pages) on the influence of the secularization of the arts tinged with tautological truncations and tepid theology that were fluid from 1500 to 1585, and covered the subject matter I presented with copious documentation and examples not only in words but in pictures, diagrams and drawings and even some verses that I composed in the style of the period I was reviewing.

After my peers passed papers of five to ten pages and demanded the superior grade, the good professor pointed passionately at me and demanded to know where my paper was and what grade I believed it merited. Realizing it was my turn to tread tenderly (as if summoned by a god sitting enthrone on Mount Olympus) toward the towering figure of academic authority, I placed my buckram-bound tome on the don’s desk and asked Dr. John L. Eiklor (M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Northwestern University, in 1953 and 1963, respectively.  He was loved for his teaching ability, knowledge of subject matter and because he refused to be a friend with any student but saw all as having an equal opportunity to achieve.  Dr. Eiklor was a strict and stern teacher, but given to an occasional joke, but not once did he misuse a word, incorrectly write a sentence, or discount the importance of reading, writing, and discussing all things with everyone; he truly was l’uomo universale and had unlimited zeal and determination to build scholars: to judge the quality of the work, not its quantity. I openly reasoned out-loud that he would be a better determiner of its merits than I, since I was too close to its recent authorship (I still possess that tomes in my own library with Dr. Eiklor’s annotations and marginalia around the world and ultimately to Perú, the gold stamping of the letters beginning to chip and fade, the binding tired and the pages weathered like an old oak barn braced badly for frigid temperatures and howling winds and have placed it in this blog for reference and reflection). 

Walking away from the podium where the weary professor rested his elbows (he would later die from heart bypass surgery complications), I felt every eye upon me, and I sensed so much hatred that I wanted to sink through the floor. I had become accustomed to it, for Dr. Eiklor and Dr. Donald F. Howard ( were the only ones on the campus who would even acknowledge my existence by fraternally addressing me as “Brother Ide.” That day of being thoroughly despised at State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls was nothing like the dark day in Lambayeque Province at the university where I attempted to teach Learning Strategies to students who would not read the week’s assignment nor turn in the paper required by the syllabus, but instead sat in huddles for quick chats and smirks smacking of distain of the subject matter and flagrant and open derision of my person that was now ripe with age and too much food. The students at the national university in Lambayeque had computers and access to the worldwide web from which they copied liberally, they were not burdened like I was with having to read real books, to translate from the Latin (we studied Latin in primary school), Greek, German, French, and a myriad of medieval languages not yet modernized, nor did any of these would-be future teachers have to sit in a cubicle to poured their heart and empty their mind onto clean white paper with words filtered grammatically from mind to my fingers that flew across a old SCM Typewriter, pounding on the keys to form words (and if a mistake occurred to start with a fresh sheet as erasures were never permitted).

The lust for an unearned grade and to receive an unmerited diploma has haunted civilization from the beginning of education in time and it is not just in backward Third World nations like Perú (where I have the opportunity to teach at a truly fine university in Chiclayo: Universidad César Vallejo, where the Academic Dean Luis Amado Berrera Arrésteguí actually supports the faculty but comes down firmly against any plagiarism, and requires workshops where teachers participate as equals), but also in First World nations where I studied in the USA, UK, and elsewhere. One thing that education still requires is papers, but the papers that I received were marginal at best for that Master degree in English teaching as the average paper was only 200 words and without any significant merit, offering no new ideas or hypothecate postulations or predictions as most words were cut-and-pasted onto paper if the composition itself was not directly lifted from the internet—that being one of the primary reasons I strongly object to the internet as a tool in a university for it encourages students to cheat by making copying even easier).

The papers that were not plagiarized (usually from Wikipedia) were consistently vague, inarticulate, and filled with grammatical and spelling errors and barely merited a minor grade barely at the passing level (being an eleven on a twenty point scale).  Those plagiarized treatises, deceptively counterfeited so obviously that it took little time to research and point out where the theft was from by those who would be role models for Perú’s next generation, I failed.  Once the paper was denied any grade, and the student’s rank imitation of an original thought duly noted in my record book, the plagiarism was returned to the student with a note that the plagiarism would be forgotten and forgiven if the student wrote an original composition that had value and made a contribution to the subject matter discussed. 

As the frequency of plagiarism grew in my class, I read the laws against plagiarism as defined not only in the USA and Europe, but specifically read the laws against plagiarism in Perú. Doing this was a futile exercise, as the professor at Central Florida University discovered, as after my presentation and request for transparency in the classroom and original writing by the students seeking the Master degree, the result was always the same—“So what?” “Everyone copies!” and “other teachers do not object, they just give us good grades and we love them.”

Because I have always objected to plagiarism (and continue to do so) and cite all national and international laws against plagiarism I am considered a detriment to obtaining the worthless degree that shows only how to cheat and lie but not to know; for this reason I rejected the argument that the terrible transgression of plagiarism is universal among all students (as nothing is universal any more than any idea or subject or entity is universal—it is the same fallacy as claiming that there is but one god for all people: a grand hypocrisy and idiocy which glorifies one idea, one people, one theology at the expense of the plethora of reality) with even a “friend” in Sweden writing me that for me to write a book on English grammar is a waste of time since anyone can download numerous books on English grammar from the internet–complete with mistakes as found in the IB Programme website where it is permissible to begin a sentence with a conjunction even though the rule is that conjunctions hold together clauses.  The students who were graduate candidates and many who were already teachers in colegios (although some quite affected schools who have little knowledge of their own Spanish language have painted out the word and wrongly substituted “College” that  no reputable Spanish dictionary agrees to theword useage; cf. SM Diccionarios avanzado: English-Spanish Español-Inglés. Madrid [204], p. 816) demanded my dismissal and followed the letter of Perú law that they had someone research, by having to register three complaints and all students had to sign the document.  I had no problem leaving, as I knew that the cause was lost to teach this congregation of students learning strategies that they assumed was a form of methodology.

Licensed by the States of Iowa, California, and others, I am a professional educator who has been examined and judged qualified to be a teacher throughout the USA but also with the reputation of an abecedary and pedagogue who is unsatisfied with mediocrity, carelessness, and baseness in scope and content of students who will not read, will not write satisfactorily, will not participate in group discussions or offer personal observations, opinions, and monologues.  

When I published my blog on my excruciating experience at UNPRG (, I received an avalanche of hate mail from my students and their friends.  This was not unexpected as it has become a part of teaching everywhere, and a good teacher understands that it is a way for students to release their frustrations, so I accepted the bile bitterly belched on me through the internet and in person and continued my research confident in my abilities, as the adept advocate of learning must go on with his or her life and his or her vocation and love of learning and teaching.

I am old, I am told repeatedly, and should retire for younger teachers to enter the classroom who will award grades based not on quality of work but on attendance and rote mastery of single-text book readings. It is true that I am over sixty-five years of age, and I have lived a long, boring to most people, and an unloved life by the definition of some do since I never had a family of my own, nor ever wanted children or retainers groveling before me.  Physical death holds neither threat nor fear for me any more than the hate mail I receive for I have found sanctuary in wisdom and the respect and support of and within my university that is also in Lambayeque Province. While I have no family of my own, no relatives nor other members of an extended family, I do have a small coterie of friends and my eight dogs, but most of all this has made me realize what a good teacher and an outstanding educator must be, and to that end I detail the qualifications of the professional practioneer of pedagogy and academic learning.

What is a good teacher?  In every survey ever taken that I have ever read, in every language that I read and engage in debate with members of that linguistic group, students rank the number one quality of a good teacher is a professional who is knowledgeable  of the subject.  First and foremost the teacher must be a subject matter expert—not a facilitator. If the teacher does not know the subject that he or she is teaching, then he or she should not be teaching. Even the neophytes and novices need to know more than how to read a PowerPoint presentation to a class (yet in most schools and universities this is the rule (cp. Rachel, Samuel (1493). De jure naturae et gentium dissertationes; e.g. État de la journée: réglementation), or refer to note cards, stumbling aimlessly trying to get students to fill in information the teacher is uncertain, incapable, or unqualified of knowing.

Once the teacher knows the subject thoroughly (i.e.  รู้เรื่องอย่างละเอียด or знаејќи предмет темелно) he or she can facilitate or assist the student to find or ferret out information and not blunder or flouder without the lighted lamp of education fully burning to show the way beyond the shadows on the wall of today’s educational cave (Σωκράτης σπηλιά, Plato, Republic, Book X). 

Good teachers are not only facilitators. The lead in the journey, as facilitation (from the Latin facilis which is the third declension for “easy” and comes from facio) means to “make things easier”—not to give out information but help direct the individual’s conduct of inquiry. No teacher can make things easy for any alumnus if the educator does not know the subject matter as well as the steps towards understanding it.

A good teacher is cognizant of the subject matter and positively preachificates that all areas of learning feed into one another.  The good teacher apperceives that no subject is an orphan nor is it unique. For example, in teaching astronomy a good teacher will employ art to enliven and expand the subject by showing how the earth and the sky and the stars were pictured in each epoch, and possibly, as I wrote in my blog on Fig Leaves (, that even Michelangelo in his massive painting on the wall behind the altar of the Sistine Chapel painted the planets going around the sun as if he was taking liberties with the thesis of Copernicus—long before Galileo Galilee.  The same is true in teaching of mathematics for a good teacher will call upon the philosophers such as Pythagoras who gave us a significant understanding with a simple equation gained from determining the dimensions of a triangle (Sally, Judith D., Sally, Paul (2007). “Chapter 3: Pythagorean triples”. Roots to research: a vertical development of mathematical problems. American Mathematical Society Bookstore. p. 63; whether or not Pythagoras was the original thinker on this mathematical formula is discussed in Allman, George Johnston (1889). Greek Geometry from Thales to Euclid (Reprinted by Kessinger Publishing LLC 2005 ed.). Hodges, Figgis, & Co. p. 26.). In agricultural sciences good teachers can turn to Archimedes and his famous screw that still brings water to Egyptian fields and is used elsewhere in various capacities as it is the knowledge of integral calculus. In the physical sciences, Archimedes is responsible for mechanics and mechanical engineering (see: Ide, Arthur Frederick (2002). Hydraulics and Hydrostatics: Pumps and Motors (Dallas, Monument) and it calls for a ponderous discussion on the need for a greater understanding of the critical shortage of water, of water pollution and efforts and water purification with a comprehension of the past to plan for the present and prepare for the future when clear and fresh water actually in short time will become scarce.  Aristotle was among the first western philosophers to discuss in his book Meteorology (Latin: Meteorologica or Meteora) his theories about earth sciences that  includes early accounts of water (Metaph. 983 b21-22) and water evaporation (Thales recognized evaporation, and was familiar with traditional views, such as the nutritive capacity of mist and ancient theories about spontaneous generation, phenomena which he may have ‘observed’, just as Aristotle believed he, himself had (Hist. An. 569 b1; Gen. An. 762 a9-763 a34), and about which Diodorus Siculus (I.7.3-5; 1.10.6), Epicurus (ap. Censorinus, D.N. IV.9), Lucretius (De Rerum Natura , V.783-808) and Ovid (Met. I.416-437) wrote), weather phenomena, and earthquakes that could lead to massive damage and loss of life: “So the whirlwind originates in the failure of an incipient hurricane to escape from its cloud: it is due to the resistance which generates the eddy, and it consists in the spiral which descends to the earth and drags with it the cloud which it cannot shake off. It moves things by its wind in the direction in which it is blowing in a straight line, and whirls round by its circular motion and forcibly snatches up whatever it meets.” (371a9-15). In the area of hydrology, Aristotle wrote: “The whole of the Mediterranean does actually flow. The direction of this flow is determined by the depth of the basins and by the number of rivers. Maeotis flows into Pontus and Pontus into the Aegean. After that the flow of the remaining seas is not so easy to observe.” (354a11-14). Contrary to Ptolemy and what would become Hebrew and Christian canon that the earth was the center of the universe and flat, Aristotle wrote “The earth is surrounded by water, just as that is by the sphere of air, and that again by the sphere called that of fire.” (354b23-25)

It was Thales, the student of Aristotle, who first wrote and taught at length that the earth (the land) was not a continuous body going from one side of the planet to the other, nor referencing Aristotle “flat” (Aristotle, Cael. 297 b25-298 a8), but that the earth was a “floating vessel” (in many ancient languages it was called an “ark”) that moved on top of the waters (oceans); see: Aëtius (Aët. III. 9-10; Aëtius recorded the different opinions of the shape of the earth that were held by Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes (III.9-10; III.10; and III.10). Cicero attributed to Thales the earliest construction of a solid celestial globe (Rep. I.XIII.22.) and Plutarch (Epit. III.10).  This “floating vessel” (or ark) could distress the planet and create earthquakes that could eventually spell the doom of all mortals if mortals do not take care of Mother Gaia (the planet Earth), and the planet itself would collapse under the weight of its own denudement.  Aëtius recorded that Thales and Democritus found in water the cause of earthquakes (Aët. III.15), and Seneca attributed to Thales a theory that on the occasions when the earth is said to quake it is fluctuating because of the roughness of oceans (QNat. III.14; 6.6).

But these were just a beginning of what would become his defense of learning strategies that required an appreciation of the past and a knowledge of grammar at all levels (see Aristotle, Περὶ Ἑρμηνείας or Peri Hermeneias which in Latin is de Interpretatione. He is the father of the quantification theory and modalities. Chapter 2 defines a noun and signifies the subject by convention without reference to time; Chapter 3 details how a verb carries with it the notion of time; Chapter 4 defines a sentence as an expression whose parts have meaning; Chapter 5 details how every simple preposition contains a verb; and so forth—arguments I used in my Learning Statistics class at UNPRG and was blasted for it as being irrelevant by “teachers” who could not put together a coherent sentence in English when I argued that they would lack understanding if they did not learn the full corpus of the subject—or become subject matter experts [e.g. τὰ μετὰ τὰ φυσικά]. Cp. πάντες ἄνθρωποι τοῦ εἰδέναι ὀρέγονται φύσει. σημεῖον δ᾽ ἡ τῶν αἰσθήσεων ἀγάπησις: καὶ γὰρ χωρὶς τῆς χρείας ἀγαπῶνται δι᾽ αὑτάς, καὶ μάλιστα τῶν ἄλλων ἡ διὰ τῶν ὀμμάτων. οὐ γὰρ μόνον ἵνα πράττωμεν ἀλλὰ καὶ μηθὲν [25] μέλλοντες πράττειν τὸ ὁρᾶν αἱρούμεθα ἀντὶ πάντων ὡς εἰπεῖν τῶν ἄλλων. αἴτιον δ᾽ ὅτι μάλιστα ποιεῖ γνωρίζειν ἡμᾶς αὕτη τῶν αἰσθήσεων καὶ πολλὰς δηλοῖ διαφοράς. φύσει μὲν οὖν αἴσθησιν ἔχοντα γίγνεται τὰ ζῷα, ἐκ δὲ ταύτης τοῖς μὲν αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐγγίγνεται μνήμη, τοῖς δ᾽ ἐγγίγνεται.)  What startled me at the university in Lambayeque Province where I was teaching Learning Strategies, not a single student knew of this important work, none had read it, and all but one student found it a waste of time–yet it is this work that gives today’s grammarians substance and strength of argument, for it is on these principles that all languages in the modern world exist.  I have found that only the good and intelligent academic dean at my university (UCV) has an appreciation of this critical work (alas! I have it only in the original Greek, which few Peruvians are able to read).

The good teacher must be an expert in the teacher’s specialized field of expertise: if the teacher is professing knowledge of the English language, that teacher must be an expert in grammar, spelling, vocabulary and all subfields. At the same time that teacher must be comfortably familiar with and introduce literature, music and the arts in all of their varied and wonderful formats to assist the student who is attempting to learn English to see that English as a language is neither staid nor ossified, nor something that is for rote memorization.  This has been my Te Deum and my Geist der Zeit (which has nothing to do with a joie de vivre) but it is difficult to use in Perú except in that rare and extraordinary center of learning, the new Athens, that spreads out on the Caratera de Pimentel behind it white and blue bricks and facings over which is emblazoned the acronym UCV, as while I have taught in Perú since 2005, I have lamentably found teachers of English more interested in a paycheck than in seeing a student recome enriched with real knowledge and grow intellectually as well as academically (I suppose it is for that reason I am called on by senior personnel at Banco del Credito de Peru (BCP) in Lima, and various mining and law firms to help them improve their English and rewrite/edit their letters of application to enter serious senior universities in the USA, UK and Europe as I have taught at CALSA, TDM, Oracle, Backus, Sika, Merck, and numerous other major foreign companies both in Perú and other nations). This is even true of many “teachers” from the USA, UK, Canada and Europe who are on “holiday” in Perú and seek to earn a few Soles without any true expertise in the English language, as most come from backgrounds in biology, agriculture, military, and homemaking.  It is because of their birth status–their citizenship–in English speaking nations that satisfies the gnawing need of administrators to find “native speakers” to put into classrooms, to the disservice of the students. The majority of these “native speakers” teach street English.  They use such non-words as “wanna”, “gonna”, “gotcha”, “iza” and so forth.  One institute in Chiclayo (ICPNA) actually paid for an American to fly to the institute and teach slang, such as: “I’m pooped”, even though all dictionaries define “poop” as the excrement from a dog. 

While I was teaching at a language institute in central Chiclayo (SENATI), the coordinator brought to my aula (classroom) a young Peruvian navy SEAL who wanted to pass the FCE (First Certificate in English).  I explained to the young man that the FCE was a certificate.  He insisted that it was an advanced degree.  Many use these IB Programme tests as degrees–to earn more money and get allegedly better teaching positions, yet teach more poorly than even I could imagine.  He young man persisted, demanding that I help him to pass the FCE, while refusing to take the course–a course that only I was teaching.  When I asked why he would not study, he told me that I was too old to be interesting, and too fat to be worth watching–and he hated to read. 

I asked him why he wanted the FCE, after suggesting he learn basic English grammar first.  He responded that by having the FCE he would be paid more money and he liked drinking beer at the local discotheque. I suggested that he needed first and foremost to have a love of teaching and that love of teaching should be his calling—not a dance tune or a pretty face. He became visually distraught and stormed off with a slurry of words defaming not only me but my background in education, swearing that teachers gave grades in Perú so they would be able to keep a teaching job (not a position or profession, just a job).  

I never saw him again.  His petulance and animosity remains clear in my mind as he continues to teach at SENATI in Chiclayo. I mourn for his students.  Each time I think about him I refine my own definition of what is a good teacher, and for that reason I wrote this essay.

The good teacher is an educated intellectual who has developed his or her particular talents, possesses passion for learning, and has superior pronunciation skills, reads omniverously, writes regularly, engages in open dialogues with others on a myriad of subjects (cp. Plato, Republic, 369a-515c), and does not prostitute himself or herself for a paycheck.  Unfortunately that form of prostitution is very common in Third World nations, and seeping into Second and First World nations as the few super rich reach out to strangle the independence of the disappearing Middle Class who has given more than its share of teachers to the world.  It is those with wealth who downplay the importance of books, of mastering languages, and of creating innovative ways of doing things, teaching about soil and water conservation, protecting the ozone and becoming caretakers of the planet and not denuding it of its forests and vegetation, or stripping it of its nonrenewable resources so that a few can live well while others suffer.  In Perú I have been told by those working at Merck, as I have been told by “graduate students” in Lambayeque Province that they both learned and teach English by using the songs by the Beatles (a rock band in the UK).  While I have never cared for the Beatles, I can see using their melodies as a learning strategy, as I explained to my one-time class in February 2011.  I responsed to the common querry as to what I thought of the Beatles, and while not offering a judgment I noted that there is nothing wrong in using the melodies of the Beatles in class as a learning strategy, but true professional educators would correct the grammar and spelling of lyrics (for example: I want to hold your hand, and not continue the slang: I wanna hol your han).

Rock-and-Roll and other contemporary musical forms of expression are current with vulgar (street) English, as is the case with movies (especially read in subtitles, such as the screen for the Bollywood film “Two Idiots” that had printed in bold letter U 2 B), and I have listened to the worse pronunciation of even simple English words from alleged professors of phonics and pronunciation.  I am appalled that this exists, continues and is never challenged, but then modern media is deteriorating rapidly as the urgency for “now” becomes almost a lethal drug. 

I am truly apprehensive about the wards of today’s teachers who are carrying on their linguistic mutilations of basic words and phrases.  The majority of the teachers I have spoken with in Perú follow the pronunciation of Spanish alphabet and language for English pronunciations; to this end the student catches the “booos” not the bus, the color yellow becomes “jello”, and so forth, even though I urge them to remember that the color is a “smiling word” and the lips must be fully parted, while the gelatine is a kissing word with the lips pursed (Ide, Arthur Frederick (2010). The reason for my trepidation (its root is closest to the Hindi जल्दबाजी) is that students learn by example (repeating what they hear and watching the curvature of the mouth, the projection of the tongue, the exhalation of the air from the throat across the teeth), not by reading books without linguistic guidance or parroting parched words weaping for correct pronunciations. 

I have told phonics professors as patiently as possible, the good teacher must exude an exhilarating enthusiasm for the language and pronounce it correctly using phonics as a tool to carve carefully the tonal qualities necessary to turn plain words into symphonies–but never allow contemporary convulsions of the tongue that are fad for a moment be their slave master.  I encourage professors of phonics to pronounce each syllable of every new word that is brought to the student’s attention and knowledge with succinct satin superiority and rich resolve restoring the language to its originality, while, at the same time, being adept at handling all pedagogies and knowing the history of each word and its origin and evolution.  For example, I have noted in my conversation classes at UCV when I have taught Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol  that each word matters in this historic piece.  Ebeneezer Scrooge is visited by “merry gentlemen”, I note and ask what these men were.  The responses ranged from “happy” to “gay,” yet these visitors were not necessarily happy people (and there is no indication of their sexual preference and natural propensity) but, instead, the men were benevolent gentlemen seeking alms to help the poor: they were charity workers (this is learned from the highly likely or strongly possible root from the Old English merige meaning agreeable; there are few European correlates, with the one possible exception being the Middle Dutch mergelijc meaning “joyful”; consider Bot vchon enle we wolde were fyf, þe mo þe myryer c. 1300 CE).  From this point on, students of languages can find a new uncharted path with which to approach not only literature but languages.  This is especially true when researching and using the English idiom.  If this does not happen, the students who merely read words and not have the tools of interpretation are doomed to failure; this shipwreck of fools takes place when and  if they do not know and appreciate the history of all languages from all periods and epochs of time and in and from all places (in short, the true student of languages becomes a philologist—a title that I adopted years ago for myself), of learning language strategies, and the methodologies and pedagogies of linguistics.  Tragically, in the colegios and the universities I have visited and taught at in various locations throughout Perú, the students I who have spoken with me have declared dramatically that they are more interested in a “fast fix” allowing them to be able to recite a brief strategy than understand any reality of where the strategy started, how it developed, what keeps it valuable, and what it can do for the student of tomorrow to assist that student to be a better person, an individual who is aware of the realities of dwindling natural resources, who will argue for the basic rights both civil and human for all people, and to care about the advance of learning without worrying about the cost (Perú has finally raised its national contribution to public schools to 4% but not without a little rancor).  All they want for their students is for the students to “love” them, enjoy games and songs with them, and pass to the next cycle so that the teachers keep their jobs and get paid.

While money is essential to sustain life and to buy good books, a serious scholar who has the honor of teaching others sees more than the paycheck as the ultimate end to the academic day. A good teacher is critical in research, writing, and oral presentation not only for his or her classroom, his or her colegio or university, but also for his or her nation and for the development of all nations so that there is a better world to leave to succeeding generations. A good teacher is not, necessarily, an outstanding teacher—which is far more necessary for the world of today and market of tomorrow. While there is a great need for outstanding, exceptional, highly skilled and educated teachers, reality notes that it is best to educate those with an interest in learning so that they can motivate others, even if the candidates for degrees do not obtain the best scores or produce the best books.  It is wrong, however, to give up the struggle to fashion outstanding scholars, but this takes time and energy for not everyone will master all languages, read daily and speak forcefully on subjects that are controversial. All teachers should be encouraged to do so, but it is not always possible to get such a fervent commitment.  It can be sought after but the quest is frequently as illusive as the enemies Don Quixote pursued with his faithful companion Sancho Panza (or Zancas) who is uneducated and unable to read (Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha [originally published in two volumes: 1605 and 1615).

An outstanding teacher knows more than just the basic material (that should never be the situation nor considered good enough especially for an elementary teacher, as all education starts at the lowest level and works its way to the top. Unless the initial grades are taught soundly, those who pass into the primary and secondary levels will struggle with advanced material especially if they have not been taught how to read insightfully as well as find pleasure and fulfillment in reading and writing).  It is critical that the outstanding teacher does not read the textbook to the students as if the students were blind or had not been trained to read. The outstanding teacher does not quote from a single textbook and/or in a show of a lack of true knowledge belittles education by pompously pronouncing patently that the textbook is infallible and never to be questioned. Instead, the outstanding teacher requires the students to read more than one book for each subject, and then that outstanding educator will teach not what is found within the pages of that book selected for the students to read, unless a passage or page is truly essential and buttressed with the skill of medieval masons fashioning the towering domes of cathedrals of learning, but instead the outstanding teacher will show the weaknesses and errors of the textbook so that the students not only approaches other books and records with a critical and discerning eye, but understands that all knowledge is can never be contained nor secreted in a single volume as if that single volume were absolutely true (a βιβλία)and written by an unseen divine hand (as was the case with al-Farabi: فقد قرأ كتاب أرسطو في هذا العلم ولم يفهم منه شيئا، وأعاد قراءته أربعين مرة حتى حفظه عن ظهر قلب دون أن يفهمه. وفي يوم من الأيام ذهب إلى السوق فعرض عليه دلال كتابا صغيرا في أغراض ما بعد الطبيعة، فرده ابن سينا ردا متبرما متحججا بأنه علم لا فائدة منه. فأخبره الدلال بأن الكتاب سعره ثلاثة دنانير فقط وصاحبه في حاجة إلى ثمنه، فاشتراه منه، فإذا هو كتاب الفارابي في أغراض ما بعد الطبيعة. فأسرع ابن سينا إلى البيت وقرأه فانفتح ما استغلق عليه في الحال لأنه كان يحفظ كتاب أرسطو speaking on Aristotle’s Metaphysics). 

The outstanding teacher not only questions the single text the students buy (publishers need to reduce their prices on books so that they are more affordable and students can keep them and refer to them the rest of their lives, but the reason most books are costly is that so few are printed that the publishers must raise the prices not only to cover labor and production costs but also to make a reasonable profit on and from their investment), but offers refutations and rejections to that text and encourages the students to seek out other errors and find out what is fact. If this was not true, we would still believe the world was flat and that the earth stood still, that the sun was orbiting (or as one eleventh century monk wrote “the sun is running around this plate of God on which we live” and another defined the sun to be in a chariot pulled by horses at the will of God, as if the chariot was the transportation of the ancient god Apollo) around the planet whose ends were drop-offs where monsters lay in waiting for ships to cruise past the point of no return.

The outstanding teacher will introduce antecedents to the material that is to be covered, to present the realities that are ignored, and to flesh out that which is marginalized in text and context. For example, to teach the history of the German Third Reich without knowing about the causes and the extent of world wide economic meltdown of the late 1920s and early 1930s, the depression of the 1930s that played bitterly for the men without jobs in Berlin and throughout the Kaiserdom, few would understand why the men who lined up for food because they had no jobs supported and voted for Adolf Hitler who promised the men that if he was elected chancellor he would remove women from the workplace (jobs were given to women who agreed to work for lower pay) and return them to the home where they would become good mothers and submissive wives as his bible told him they had to serve submissively their husbands who were lords over their hearths and hearts (this continues to be the message given out today by evangelical extremists who read the bible literally without any knowledge or training in the ancient languages that formulated and formed the bible from 300 BCE to 1525 CE). It was for this reason that the Christians of Germany flocked to his banner, and rejoiced on hearing Hitler’s September 1934 speech Kinder, Küche, Kirche (children, kitchen, church; this is actual a plagiarism by Hitler from  a speech given in December 1898 by the then New York Senator Chauncey Depew to the college women’s club in New York. “When I was in Germany a few years ago its press had just come to the knowledge of our new woman. The German Emperor took up the subject and was reported to have said that the whole duty of women could be condensed into three things — “the kitchen, the children, and the church”. Hitler gave his speech to the National Socialist Women’s Organization, arguing that for the German woman her “world is her husband, her family, her children, and her home,” Doramus, Max (1990). The Complete Hitler: A Digital Desktop Reference to His Speeches & Proclamations, 1932-1945. Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, p. 532) while denouncing the Jews as destroying the Christian family, and ultimately leading to the surprising (for many) election of the Austrian Adolf Hitler to the office of German Chancellor in January 1933 ( After Hitler took office women who were out of work were no longer counted as they were expected to marry and be pregnant as often as possible so that they would merit Ehrenkreuz der deutschen Mutter; see: Angolia, John R. (1989; 2nd ed.) For Führer and Fatherland: Political & Civil Awards of the Third Reich, R. James Bender Publishing, ISBN-13: 978-0912138145, pp 67-69) and the building of concentration camps for women who continued to work (either because they were the single parent supporting their own or their extended family, or were doctors, lawyers and teachers who enjoyed their vocations and added to the luster of the German society) which was seen as degrading and tarnishing Hitler’s concept of the reality of history where women were meant to be submissive to men (all males, actually).

The first concentration camp for women workers in Nazi Germany was for over 100,000 women and they were herded like cattle and incarcerated in Ravensbrück; when the Nazis were beaten in battle in 1945, over 117,000 women workers and children were executed at Ravensbrück; see:  (Sophie Scholl, a student at the University of Munich and a member of the White Rose resistance group, was arrested and executed in February 1943 for handing out anti-Nazi leaflets. The greatest obscenity to the vilification and assassination of women came not only from Hitler and his goons, but the teacher-website for the IB Programme where the monitor of the History section told a teacher that women during the time of Hitler women were not important and not to waste time discussing the role or misuse of women when teaching the Third Reich; I recoiled at such an absurdity and wrote back a stinging rebuke and promptly from the colegio where I was teaching and enrolled at that website.  Good teachers will reject such insensitivity and male chauvinism, and I advocate that they do not associate themselves with or teach the IB Programme. Hitler’s atrocities were more than his slave labor camps, death camps, and death marches and so forth, because few teachers want to discuss eugenics and how that idea played into his ultimate work Mein Kamp (or My Struggle). Outstanding teachers will have read this book, not just reviews of it, and discuss it with their students, for students must know how far hate can spread and how a “man of faith” (as Hitler called himself; see: could commit such atrocities in the name of faith.

To be an outstanding university teacher, the individual must constantly study and reach higher levels of knowledge. Good teachers do not cave into threats from students, administrators, or local authorities, who fear what a qualified, credentialed and certified teacher teaches, and if charges are brought up against the teacher by students or parents and guardians, the teacher must be given time to clear his or her name and demonstrate the validity of what is being taught. Outstanding teachers neither run out of fear nor turn silent, worried about the next paycheck or offending a Dean, Director or even the President of a university.  Teaching is a lifetime occupation and vocation—it is not merely an amusement or something to fill time until a better job is offered. Socrates died for what he believed in, as did most the great teachers of this world who were persecuted and executed by church and state and by disgruntled students. Not to speak out against the intimidations and threats of students, parents, guardians, police, military or governments that wish to stop the free exchange of ideas and curtain knowledge is a grave crime against humanity, for if the teacher’s voice is silenced it is the same as when the Germans remained silent when the Nazi pogroms enveloped and evaporated entire families and villages in quest of racial purity and Hitler’s concept of defending his god and Jesus. Hundreds of thousands of Germans said and did nothing when the Nazis rounded up the Jews, Romas (gypsies), homosexuals, White Russians, and so forth—so when the Nazis finally came for them, there was no one to speak up for their rights (cf. Every student should read:

For example: In January 1946, Niemöller spoke of meeting a German Jew who had lost everything–parents, brothers, and sisters too. ‘I could not help myself’, said Niemöller, ‘I had to tell him, “Dear brother, fellow man, Jew, before you say anything, I say to you: I acknowledge my guilt and beg you to forgive me and my people for this sin.”‘

Pastor Martin Niemöller’s stance was heatedly and loudly unwelcomed by the 1,200 students to whom he was preaching. They shouted and jeered as he preached that Germany must accept responsibility for the five or six million murdered Jews. Students in Marburg and Göttingen similarly heckled him, even as Niemöller insisted that ‘We must openly declare that we are not innocent of the Nazi murders, of the murder of German communists, Poles, Jews, and the people in German-occupied countries.”We must openly declare that we are not innocent of the Nazi murders, of the murder of German communists, Poles, Jews, and the people in German-occupied countries. No doubt others made mistakes too, but the wave of crime started here and here it reached its highest peak. The guilt exists, there is no doubt about that — even if there were no other guilt than that of the six million clay urns containing the ashes of incinerated Jews from all over Europe. And this guilt lies heavily upon the German people and the German name, even upon Christendom. For in our world and in our name have these things been done. Plato, Republic 336c & 337a, Theaetetus 150c, Apology 23a; Xenophon, Memorabilia 4.4.9; Aristotle, Sophistical Refutations 183b7), but it is not unique, for the ancient Egyptians developed a strong pedagogy and encompassed numerous strategies for the sons of nobility and accountants that we find today even in the classrooms at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, London, and elsewhere—but these antecedents were rejected by my students at UNPRG, and I and within my academic pneuma (πνεύμα) they are the poorer for not knowing what helped develop modern pedagogy. This has spiraled for more than three-millennium with teachers of pedagogy and didactics speaking on matters that were unwanted and many refused to consider and modified and incorporated new ideas by a cornucopia of educational techniques and strategies offered by Bacon, Spinoza, Berkeley, Malthus, Jefferson, and others, for the past must be known if the present is to have vitality and there be a real future. To ignore the reality of the history of education and the history of learning strategies that is a handmaiden to philosophy in all academic situations is the gravest of all insults to the psychology of the students ( and cp. and with as strategies is a form of philosophy as seen at on the global scale briefly reviewed at which culminates in learning That the Director of the Postgraduate program in English at the university in Lambayeque would find fault with philosophy being taught with learning strategies shows not only the Director’s incompetence and ignorance of the field but his unfitness for the position and inability to manage to allow students to condemn the very subject they signed up for as it was taught in the same way learning strategies is taught at every major university throughout the nations of the First World from Canada and the USA to the UK and throughout Scandinavia and Europe. Perú’s students will be the poorer for the brevity of learning that a few pseudo-scholars demanded in their quest for a Master degree in English that none has a legitimate right or claim to possessing.

The second core quality is that good teachers and most of all outstanding educators must possess the ability to articulate their knowledge and expertise to their students in a manner that will not only communicate words but ideas and hypotheses, as well as to invite open discussions, philosophical dialogues and monologues, dissentions and arguments.  There is no absolute anywhere.  There is no man or woman who is infallible by definition or title or appointment or elevation by any group who claim superiority over others, nor has any individual the right or the commission to attempt to assume a position of a demigod or intercessor a direct line to any deity or monopoly on education and intelligence.  The good teacher and the outstanding educator know that knowledge acquisition is simple but true if learned objectively and encompasses, incorporates, and internalizes all aspects of knowledge from all fields and sciences and philosophy of knowledge—and then brands what is learned as the hallmark of the advancement of pure wisdom (καθαρή φρόνηση).  The outstanding educator urges, encourages and invites the students, one and all, to object, reject, interject, add to and subtract from what the teacher has taught—but with careful and copious citations (as nothing can be proven if it is found only in one book (or, as the ancients noted: ոչինչ չի կարող ապացուցել, որ ճշմարիտ է, եթե այն հայտնաբերվել միայն մեկ աղբյուր, կամ մեկ բանախոսի, կամ ուսուցչի կամ Աստծո կամ սուրբ գիրք), as no single book contains all the wisdom or the majesty of this evolving life and planet: немає жодної книги містить всі мудрості або велич цієї життя, що розвивається і планети), quality work defined as well written in a style that is clear, concise, concrete, complete and cogent, and (most of all) is crowned with a coronet that is emblazoned with detailed descriptions and definitions.

A good teacher and an outstanding scholar encourages by word and example all students to understand the material and reach out for more, to demand more answers from themselves and the materials that they use regardless if the source is potsherds or potshards, tablets or coins, scrolls or parchments, incunabula or texts, for knowledge is not limited by a single medium but encompasses the fullness of all forms of expressions including that which can be found in a few tracts of current date, for the serious student will seek out the ancient scrolls, the medieval marginalia and incunabula as well as all other markings be they on potsherds or cave paintings, in modern graffiti or in an idiom that is not yet current (it must be remembered that no one knew Egyptian before Napoleon’s forces discovered the Rosetta Stone;  cf.; cp. Hachette littératures), and to understand what it means both in plural and in singular format, word choice and definition.  One cannot only be a good translator, but must use and utilize that skill of translation to interpret meaning not based on modern ideology or local favor but one how the word was construed in its own day and by the people who used it: thus we can be lazy and cite ‘Adam (a Canaanite word for “mankind”) to be the name of a man: Adam, which it is not as seen in (Hebrew: אָדָם‎, Arabic: آدم‎; etymologically “Adam” is the masculine form of the noun adamah that means ground or earth and it is related to the words adom (red), admoni (ruddy) and dam (blood) so why do institutions of higher learning continue to propagate that which is false—most likely for the same reason that many of the professors, such as the one who took over my course in Learning Strategies, at UNPRG argues that learning strategies emerged (like Athena fully armed for battle sprang from the head of Zeus) spontaneously in 1980; see my book: Ide, Arthur Frederick (2011). A good teacher and excellent educator is willing to expend and expand the effort needed to find innovative, novel and creative ways to make complicated ideas understandable to their students, and to fit new ideas into the context available to the student. A good teacher can and will joyously explain complicated material in a way that students can understand and use while at the same time focusing on having each student conduct his or her own special inquiry into the subject and methodology for furthering knowledge by seeking out that which is not obvious, searching for truth as a buried treasure eager to be discovered and known by future generations.  A good teacher and solid scholar is one who not only proffers or gives information but makes certain that they student has the antecedent background to that information—not just spoon-feeds the students already know, or gives them the arguments they want to hear.  It is tragic, to say the least, that there are too many schools and universities throughout Perú, from Lima and its heavily endowed private schools, to the impoverished public schools in the provinces—like those throughout the world that employ teachers of low caliber and marginal resolve and no zest to advancing learning in the field of English language learning.

Emphasis must be on teaching: to disseminate information that will advance the conduct of inquiry and the development of a love for learning.  It comes when a teacher requires papers and conversations, symposiums and group work, but with the caveat that there must be originality and not mere copying. Citations must be given, credit accorded when material is used, and ownership of original ideas by students or the teacher recognized and heralded.  The singular great problem today, as it has been for centuries and even millennium, is that teachers are in many cases afraid of students and the barbarities that disgruntled students have shown themselves capable of exacting upon an unpopular teacher who requires more than mere memorization as if the students were all within the walls of a Madrasah (Arabic: مدرسة‎, madrasah plural is مدارس, madāris). The single most significant difference in the educational process is the attitude of teachers and students.  Whereas in the past (my past, for example, when I taught on Maui in 1968, teachers were honored, respected, and their advice sought out [I had at least two articles published each week by the local papers on academic topics as the people of Maui were eager to learn and found the expense of the paper to be worthwhile as they could read on a variety of topics, from the warrior Queen of ancient Britain who defeated Cesar of Rome, to the origins of World War I, and more] and frequently invited into private homes and public businesses.  The teachers were never well paid, but they were given a preeminent status so if a teacher was in a store to buy food, the citizens of Paia cleared the path with smiles and urged the teacher to go first, questioning only if their sons and daughters were mastering the material, arriving at the college on time and with their lessons learned and prepared to talk. That was forty-two years ago]. Today, it is not uncommon to see teachers attacked, vilified, libeled, slandered, and abused, but, fortunately, some teachers now take measures to protect themselves as cruelty to teachers is neither new nor limited to one locale and is found throughout the world. ( for UK, cp.; for USA|head and and videos at and with even third graders planning murder at and and South America, however, seems to have a disproportionate amount of attacks on teachers, especially teachers of English who are not native Spanish speakers ( and Student frequently make up libelous and slanderous stories of incompetence on the part of the teacher, defaming the reputation of the teacher (defamation is defined as communication to third parties of false statements about a person that injure the reputation of or deter others from associating with that person) and the teacher’s credibility. In First World nations a teacher has the right to defend himself or herself, and frequently takes the student(s) to court and prosecutes them to the full extent of the law—and wins ( and and and large financial settlements, and at times prison terms for the students who created the fiction. This should never have to be the case, and it will only stop when faculty members are hired for their excellence and there is a public grievance committee and students are invited to address their concerns. The primary problem is that too many faculty members have a limited education and that the degree is not accessed based on scores, but rather based on a parchment that claims the teacher merits the rank of a professor and recognition of the closeness of the ties between teacher and principal or dean. In Perú, especially with the stranglehold on education squeeze by SUTEP, job offers are based not on what the teacher knows, but who the teacher knows.  Perú, like all nations, must restore the dignity of learning, and educate the citizenry about the benefits of learning fact over fiction, reality over fantasy, or the world will continue to pollute itself, destroying it nonrenewable natural resources and inflicting pain on everyone void of human and civil rights.
