All of the world’s most nefarious and draconian dictatorship destroying human and civil rights have always been led by “men of God”: church men, pastors and “evangelicals” be they Christians, Jews, Moslems or other sects. There has never been an exception. This was the case with the alliance of two men, Pope Pius XI and Mussolini,
that influenced so greatly the social and political pattern, not only of Italy, but also of the rest of Europe in the years between the two world wars. (http://www.cephas-library.com/catholic/catholic_vatican_in_world_politics_chpt_9.html)
Later it was Pope Pius XII and Adolf Hitler who sealed the doom of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, working women, Polish independents, captured soviet soldiers, and more. After Hitler came Ronald Reagan who embraced (and accepted money from) the Christian Coalition (and Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson; see John Patrick Diggins, “How Ronald Reagan Reinvented Religion, at http://www.hnn.us/articles/38958.html [History News Network]),
the Bushes and the Southern Baptist Convention (See: Marv Knox, “At Southern Baptist Convention, Bush Blesses Baptists,” at http://www.baptiststandard.com/2002/6_17/print/bush.html), and now modern fascism preached by “pastor” Mike Huckabee and those who ape him like Iowa’s Bob Vander Plaats who ran for the GOP nomination (and lost) to be governor of Iowa in 2010 (he had run for the same office unsuccessfully in the past). Vander Plaats’ platform was to deny basic human rights to Iowans while destroying the civil liberties and human rights of those who disagree with him or with Huckabee, and do not live the lifestyle that both man preach is demanded by a god so hate-filled that only certain people merit salvation if they are totally subservient to his pastors. This enthronement of theological conservatism brought additional revenue to both Vander Plaats and Huckabee. (See: http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1110/Huckabee_to_talk_politics_in_Iowa.html?showall).
Vander Plaats and Huckabee are two theocrats who proclaim that the “Iowa Family Policy Center” is “all about family rights” (see: http://www.ifpc.org/). Their interpretation of what constitutes a family reflects the ideology and public pronouncements identical to that of Mussolini, Hitler, and the current despots in Uganda and Nigeria, denying those who would be a family.
Vander Plaats and Huckabee bullhorn hatred and spew lies unabashed. They deny women the right to determine the destiny of their bodies. They reject the right of all children to have a sound and balanced education based on facts that is scientifically provable. They disparage the right of people to make commitments to each other. This theological twosome reject all forms of gambling on the unproven claim that gambling weakens the family, and draconically denounce taxes as being the scourge of the family, claiming that taxes “enslave” the heads of the family who must work longer hours, with a special rant on income taxes as being the poison put out by Democrats. Their rant shows a total lack of knowledge of USA history, for the first income tax was introduced by Abraham Lincoln to pay for the American Civil War on January 3, 1862 (http://www.loc.gov/rr/business/hottopic/irs_history.html cp. http://www.ifpc.org/issues). Unsurprisingly, Vander Plaats platform and goals are identical to the issues that elected Adolf Hitler as German Chancellor in 1939:
The view that women should remain at home was reinforced when a third of male workers lost their jobs and became unemployed during the depression in the 1930s. Nazis argued that men were being replaced by female workers who, on average, only received 66% of men’s wages.
During the election campaign in 1932, Adolf Hitler promised that if he gained power he would take 800,000 women out of employment within four years. In August 1933 a law was passed that enabled married couple to obtain loans to set up homes and start families. To pay for this single men and childless couples were taxed more heavily.
(See: http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/GERwomen.htm) Like the token females in today’s GOP (as defined by Vander Plaats as “God’s Own Party”), the few women Hitler brought into his government, such as Gertrud Scholtz-Klink, their job was to get women to return to the home, give birth to more “Aryan” babies, and support
enthusiastically the extension of “living space” for the “superior race” of “God-fearing Christians.”
Vander Plaats received much of his financial support from NOM (National Organization for Marriage) of Princeton, NJ–but who has interfered with every state in the Union when candidates did not reflect its values, such as “Your Average Marriage is Good For Your Kids” (the web writer’s grammar, obviously is as weak as their arguments; see: http://www.nationformarriage.org/site/c.omL2KeN0LzH/b.3836955/k.BEC6/Home.htm)
